To this end, a survey was carried out of the audit reports of 100 companies listed on the Madrid Stock Exchange during the period from 2019 to 2021, analysing the average number and which matters are disclosed in these reports, and how the characteristics of the auditor and the audited company influence the number of key audit matters disclosed. The data collected from the audit reports contained in the companies' annual reports and accounts was processed using SPSS software and the results can be consulted in chapter four of this paper. This study concludes that revenue recognition, recovery of deferred tax assets, provisions and contingencies, measurement and impairment of property, plant and equipment, and impairment of goodwill are the most frequently communicated matters in Spanish audit reports, with an average of 2.36 matters disclosed per report. It was also found that there is a negative association between the number of matters and the company's profitability, as well as the fact that the company is audited by a BIG 4, while there is a positive association in relation to the level of debt and the size of the audited company. The relevance of this study consists in the communication of empirical evidence on the determining factors in the disclosure of key audit matters in Spain. Keywords: Relevant audit matters, Company characteristics, Audit report, Listed companies in Spain
Modelling physiological sensor noise to movement-based virtual reality activities
Proceedings of the 17th International Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (BIOSTEC 2024)This position paper proposes the hypothesis that physiological noise artefacts can be classified based on the type of movements performed by participants in Virtual Reality contexts. To assess this hypothesis, a detailed research plan is proposed to study the influence of movement on the quality of the captured physiological signals. This paper argues that the proposed plan can produce a valid model for classifying noisy physiological signal features, providing insights into the influence of movement on artefacts, while contributing to the development of movement-based filters and the implementation of best practices for using various associated technologies
Democratic management as an education curriculum
This paper aims to shed light on the debate about a possible democracy not just as an instrument and method for managing education and schools, to which it has been linked in studies and research in the area, but as a process, a principle and a curriculum, thus constituting the relationships that are established in educational processes. To this end, the paper is structured based on Norbert Bobbio’s theoretical approach, which explores the concept of democracy as a principle, or education of and for democracy, and continues with brief analyses of theoretical references that deal with the idea of democratizing pedagogy, practices and curricula. In order to recognize democracy as an educational objective, the study was also based on a bibliographical survey in the CAPES Periodicals Portal, among works in Portuguese, in order to see how the literature has dealt with the subject. The study concludes by pointing out the need to build democratic processes that have their foundations in education and school administration, which become the principle of relationships and practices that are established in institutions and, especially, lead to democratic education

Neste contexto, “[the] advent of plastic revolutionized every aspect of human existence; plastics can be found (…) on the international space station, in medical equipment, in educational materials and in arguably every job and livelihood on the planet” 1 (United Nations, 2018). Over the last few decades, an increasing number of scientists have been warning that the way humanity has been dealing with the environment is leading us to cause the planet sixth mass extinction. Humanity is going through a phase of exponential growth. One of its consequences is the absence of negativity, which leads human beings to have more contact with paper and less contact with the world. In this direction, individuals have become exploiters of themselves, creating a situation of extreme productivity. At the same time, globalisation has created a context in which the destruction of boundaries has left the world without surroundings, bringing the problem ever closer and increasing environmental awareness of all. In this context, "[the] advent of plastic has revolutionized every aspect of human existence, [and can be found] in (...) every job and livelihood on the planet” (United Nations, 2018). Its fantastic potential has led to an uncontrolled proliferation of its use, in particular through the brutal increase in the use of single-use plastics and of single-use, short-lived plastics, with consequences for the ecosystem that are now becoming clear (United Nations, 2018). Over the last few decades, an increasing number of scientists have been warning that the way humanity has been dealing with the environment is leading us to cause the sixth mass extinction on our planet. Humanity has been going through a phase of exponential growth, one of the consequences of which is the absence of negativity, which leads human beings to have more contact with paper and less contact with the world, following this direction the individual has become the exploiter of himself, having said this we find ourselves in a situation of extreme productivity, where globalisation ends up blurring the boundaries leaving the world without surroundings, making the problem get closer and closer, also increasing environmental awareness in the crowd The aim of this dissertation is to shed light on the causes and consequences of humanity's attitudes towards the planet, and to demonstrate ways in which possible solutions can contribute to positive changes in the traditions of crowds. The main solution chosen is education by example in the creation of design products through the recycling of plastics, where a return to experience with reality can alter perceptions and promote a genuine evolution in traditions, associated with a direct return to learning in the context of solving everyday problems, leading to habits and behaviours that move towards mutualism in humanity's relationship with the planet
Magazines currently : a matter of virtualisation
Magazines are increasingly online and virtual and produce less material due to the different ongoing trends within the Portuguese magazine industry. Combining contributions from Organisational Communication Studies and the concept of virtual organisations with Magazine Studies, it is possible to inquire: how does the virtualisation of media organisations interfere with magazine production, circulation, and diffusion? The answer primarily refers to an increase of magazine virtualisation. Then, it points to a diversity of magazine trends: availability of press in digital editions, emergence of digital-native magazines, intensification of transmedia dynamics along with the development of digital technologies, or availability of websites of press-editions-based publications. Taking from international contexts and specificities of the national one, magazines, their virtualisation, and more wide-ranging magazine phenomena are under discussion in this essay, as well as challenges referring to current and future times
Climate change and its extreme impacts make it evident that urgent action is needed to mitigate damage to the planet. In this context, the carbon market emerges as an important tool for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promoting more sustainable practices. This study aimed to evaluate how the carbon market can function as an effective instrument for both environmental governance and economic policy. To achieve this, qualitative and quantitative data were analysed, including international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, as well as case studies like that of Banco Itaú, to understand the relationship between corporate sustainability and climate action. it The results show that the carbon market goes beyond merely reducing emissions, fosters technological innovation, generates jobs, and strengthens corporate competitiveness. However, some obstacles still need to be overcome, such as the lack of clear regulatory standards and greater transparency. Despite these limitations, the carbon market stands out as a strategic component for building a low-carbon economy, provided it is accompanied by well-defined rules and more transparent practices
