    Authigenic beryllium concentrations and ratios (10Be/9Be) of sediment core PS75/054-1

    Core PS75/054-1 (subantarctic Pacific) was taken via piston corer during RV Polarstern cruise ANT-XXVI/4. We obtained high resolution records of authigenic 10Be/9Be ratios in order to study the different impacts on 10Be deposition in marine sediments compared to ice cores. As changes in the atmospheric production of cosmogenic 10Be leave a global fingerprint in 10Be deposition fluxes this represents a powerful tool for the synchronization of climate archives. During the Laschamps geomagnetic field low (~ 41 ka BP) the global production rate of 10Be is expected to double. We therefore chose the depth interval covering this period (1.80 m – 8.30 m). For Be measurements 0.5 – 1.0 g of freeze dried samples of the core were leached (Gutjahr et al., 2007), purified (Loftfield et al., 2024), and measured via ICP-OES (9Be) and AMS (10Be; Lachner et al., 2023 and Rugel et al., 2016)

    Underway temperature and salinity data was collected along the cruise track with two autonomous measurement systems, called self-cleaning monitoring boxes (SMBs). Usually, the SMBs are changed after a predefined period, ~12 hours on this cruise. While temperature is taken at the water inlet in about 4 m depth, salinity is estimated within the SMB from conductivity and interior temperature. No temperature and salinity validation was performed. For details to all processing steps see Data Processing Report

    Underway temperature and salinity data was collected along the cruise track with two autonomous measurement systems. Usually, the systems are changed after 6 hours. While temperature is taken at the water inlet in about 6.5 m depth, salinity is estimated within the interior measurement container from conductivity and interior temperature. No temperature validation was performed. Salinity was validated with discrete water samples taken close to the seawater inlet. For details to all processing steps see Data Processing Report

    Raw data acquired by position sensors on board RV Elisabeth Mann Borgese during expedition EMB335 were processed to receive a validated master track which can be used as reference of further expedition data. During EMB335 data from the motion reference unit exail Phins Gen.3, the Trimble SPS356 GPS receiver, the Furuno GP-170 and the Furuno GP-150 GPS receiver were used to calculate the mastertrack. Data were downloaded from DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.bsh.de) with a resolution of 1 sec. Processing and evaluation of the data is outlined in the data processing report. Processed data are provided as a master track with 1 sec resolution derived from the position sensors' data selected by priority and a generalized track with a reduced set of the most significant positions of the master track

    Dissolved neodymium concentrations and isotopic composition from the full water column in the South Pacific Ocean during SONNE cruise SO289 (GEOTRACES section GP21)

    This dataset contains dissolved neodymium (Nd) concentrations and radiogenic Nd isotope compositions from full water-column seawater profiles collected in the South Pacific Ocean during the GEOTRACES section GP21 (Chile to New Caledonia) aboard R/V SONNE (cruise SO289) between 23 February and 4 April 2022. Between 10 and 40 L of seawater were collected using 10 L Niskin bottles mounted on a stainless-steel CTD rosette. Beginning at Station 18, an additional 40 L of surface seawater was collected using a trace-metal-clean tow-fish to enable Nd isotope measurements at expected low concentrations. Samples for Nd isotope analysis were pre-concentrated onboard by coprecipitation with Fe hydroxide and later purified in the home laboratory before analysis by MC-ICP-MS (Thermo Neptune Plus). Nd concentrations were determined from 1 L acidified seawater aliquots spiked with a ¹⁵⁰Nd spike, processed via Fe-hydroxide coprecipitation and AG 50W-X8 cation exchange purification, and measured by isotope-dilution MC-ICP-MS with external reproducibility better than 0.2%
