    Hydrographic, biogeochemical, and dissolved organic matter (DOM) molecular data were collected during the R/V SONNE expedition SO305/2 (16 July - 6 August 2024) along a transect from 5° N to 20° S in the Indian Ocean. Continuous surface measurements and CTD profiles provided calibrated temperature, salinity, and oxygen data across major water masses from the surface to deep layers. A total of 176 filtered seawater samples from surface transects and vertical profiles were analysed for inorganic nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate) using continuous flow analysis, and for dissolved organic carbon (DOC), total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) via high-temperature catalytic oxidation and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON). Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and dissolved black carbon (DBC) were determined using solid-phase extraction and used as proxies for thermogenic organic matter. Ultrahigh-resolution molecular characterization of solid-phase extracted DOM was conducted using FT-ICR-MS (7 T, negative ESI), with molecular indices (e.g., AIMOD, IDEG, ITERR, IBIO and IPHOTO) calculated to assess compositional and source variability. The combined dataset provides a comprehensive view of hydrographic structure, nutrient dynamics, and the composition and dynamics of DOM pool and thermogenic DOM across contrasting Indian Ocean water masses

    Spectral solar cloud top radiance measured by airborne spectral imaging (AISA Eagle) during the COMPEX-EC campaign in April 2025

    This dataset provides hyper-spectral fields of visible and near-infrared cloud top radiance observed by the AISA Eagle instrument, which was deployed aboard the Polar 5 research aircraft. The measurements were conducted during the COMPEX-EC (Clouds over Complex Environments—EarthCARE) field study in April 2025. The COMPEX-EC campaign focused on observing Cold Air Outbreaks (CAOs) and associated cloud structures over open ocean north of the Norwegian coast. The AISA Eagle uses a single-line push broom sensor comprising 1024 across-track pixels. It captures measurements across 504 channels spanning wavelengths from 400 nm to 993 nm. The instrument features a 36.3° field of view (FOV) and achieves a high spatial resolution, typically below 1 meter for targets positioned 1 kilometer away. This comprehensive dataset allows for detailed small-scale analysis of cloud structures and properties during Arctic CAOs

    We collected snow surface data on 2024-04-19 at the Sierra Nevada (Spain) ski area focusing on a groomed ski slope and an adjacent, natural (ungroomed) area. We used a 60-cm long snow roughness board and an iPad with the 3-D Scanner app to create two and three dimensional representations of the surface, respectively. The resolution of the snow roughness board and iPad scanning are about 0.2 mm and 1.5 cm. The roughness board is orange with a black edge. At each location, the snow roughness board were inserted into the snow so that the interface of the snow surface was highlighted by the orange of the roughness board. This interface was photographed and the raw snow roughness board are those images. The iPad scanning covered a 2-m wide swath over a 15-meter length. The data are in ASCII format as relative location (X,Y,Z) and colour (R,G,B)

    Raw data of physical oceanography during RV HEINCKE cruise HE669

    Raw physical oceanography data was acquired by a ship-based Seabird SBE911plus CTD-Rosette system onboard RV HEINCKE. The CTD was equipped with duplicate sensors for temperature (SBE3plus) and conductivity (SBE4) as well as one sensor for oxygen (SBE43). Additional sensors such as a WET Labs C-Star transmissometer, a WET Labs ECO-AFL fluorometer (FLRTD) and an altimeter (Teledyne Benthos PSA-916) were mounted to the CTD. The data was recorded using pre-cruise calibration coefficients. No correction, post-cruise calibration or quality control was applied. Processed profile data are available via the link below
