Citizen War Journalism on TikTok : A reception study about young adults’ trust in war content on the example of alternative reporting on the Israel-Gaza conflict
The social media platform TikTok is becoming an increasingly emerging space akin to a search engine, where news and information are shared and discovered, particularly amongst young adults. Whilst the majority of scholarly research on media trust in TikTok has concentrated on practices by professional journalists and news organizations, the entities represent only a fraction of the diverse actors, contributing to the platform's news-sharing media landscape. Notably, citizen journalists play a pivotal role in generating and disseminating war-related content on TikTok. TikTok personae have the ability to build strong relationships with followers. Such relationships, which carry great audience loyalty potential, are investigated through parasocial interaction in combination with the uses and gratifications theory. This study is a reception study of a young audience based primarily in Austria and Sweden which aims to investigate media trust in war-related content amongst ordinary individuals. Through focused interviews with 18 to 28-year-old TikTok users, reactions to viral videos will be assessed in order to establish trust factors and gain insights into their user behavior and news consumption habits on the app. Findings indicate that the TikTok algorithm influences young adults and they approach citizen- generated news content cautiously due to potential viral motives amongst creators, particularly when addressing sensitive topics such as the Israel-Gaza crisis. However, they recognize the value of opinionated content as a tool for young people to build an opinion on political topics. Keywords: Citizen Journalism, TikTok, War, Social Media Trust, Israel-Gaza Crisis, Para Social Interaction, Uses and Gratification
This essay examines the dance pedagogical method Dance a Book together with a group of children aged four to five in preschool. The purpose is to investigate and make visible children's expressions when dance and words meet, based on children's agency in rhizome-based learning. Methodologically, this study is based on a/r/tography, which is a practical and aesthetically based research method where the researcher, through the body and own participation, can stay close to what has been investigated. Sequential analysis was used as the analysis method, which meant that analysis took place in the moment when the researcher gave instructions to the children to lead the work forward. Other documentation was logbook notes. The research results are analyzed with inspiration from some concepts in Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari's philosophy of immanence. Child agency was also a concept that was consistently present in the studies. The results showed, when the children have opportunities to be creative in the dance pedagogical method Dance a Book, the children express themselves with variety both verbally and physically. Through improvisation and own creativity, not only children's development in dance was made visible, but also children's acquisition of the language and understanding of the book. The creative moment also led to joyful learning. Furthermore, this essay contributes additional knowledge to the field for showing a changed way of thinking, based on the philosophy of immanence that can create new ways of doing and learning in dance practice.
Do More Females In Power Generate Economic Growth? : Panel data analysis of female parliamentary representation and economic growth in the West, Russia and Central Asia
The purpose of this paper was to analyze the effect of representation of women in parliamentsand economic growth in three different regions. The regions which were analyzed wereEurope, Latin America, Russia and Central Asia. Based on previous research’s results, thequestion whether women in parliamentary settings affect economic growth and wealth wasexamined. A regression model adapted to panel data analysis was used on data obtained fromreliable sources like the World Bank and the UN. The variables used in the regression modelwere real GDP per capita, real GDP per capita growth, share of females in parliamentarypositions, trade, investment and Women, Business and the Law index (WBL). Justification ofthe variables are based in previous research which alludes to theoretical economicalframeworks. This study contributes to the institutional variable of the WBL indicator. Due tothe scale of the study, the results have varied across different regions, but the overall relationbetween women in power and economic growth was deemed positive. Explicit normsregarding accessibility to economical, political and judicial institutions have a greater impacton real GDP per capita than female parliamentary representation
The purpose of this study is to analyze potential capital structure changes in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic among Swedish publicly traded companies on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, OMXS, within Large Cap. The sample consists of companies across all sectors within Large Cap, excluding the finance sector. Focusing on the relationship between the dependent and independent variables before and during the period of the pandemic, 2015–2022. The dependent variables consist of total-, short- term-, and long- term debt as a proportion to the total assets. These dependent variables constitute as a Proxy for capital structure. The independent variables include size, profitability and growth. To accomplish this, the theoretical framework for this essay is based on Modigliani and Miller proposition 1 & 2, The Pecking Order Theory, The Trade Off Theory along with previous empirical studies. The analyzes contains of a descriptive analysis of all variables, a correlation analysis of the independent variables, and lastly several multivariate regressions analyses between all variables. In order to make it possible to acquire the most valid and reliable conclusions, the study will be based on a quantitative method, applying a deductive approach. The results found the most statistically significant relationships between all debt ratios and company size. The conclusion stated that the capital structure of OMXS companies, within Large Cap, had changed during the pandemic compared to before. In summary the results contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between all analyzed variables based on a historical background. Hence Swedish companies within these sectors can gain a better understanding of their capital structure for future financial crises.
The impact of inflation reports on the Stockholm Stock Exchange : An Event Study investigating the effects on OMXSPI
Background: Previous research has shown significant correlations between inflation and the stock market; however, there was a lack of such studies examining the Swedish market. This study aimed to investigate how unexpected inflation reported affected the Swedish stock market in the short term, focusing on OMXSPI. By applying the Efficient Market Hypothesis, the market’s response to inflation news from Statistics Sweden (SCB) were analyzed. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether inflations reports impacted the pricing of the Stockholm Stock Exchange, and whether OMXSPI followed the semi-strong form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. Methodology: A quantitative event study has been conducted. The investigation considered expected inflation minus the actual prevailing inflation to determine inflation shocks. The potential impact of these shocks has then been analyzed through the event study. The study has utilized a deductive research approach. Theory: The study was based on the Efficient Market Hypothesis but also the opposing theory of Behavioral Finance, supplemented by previous research in the field. Conclusions: The study found no significant relationship between inflation reports and pricing on the Stockholm Stock Exchange index. The analysis of the results suggested that the Swedish stock market either followed the weak form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis or that there was an investor overconfidence in the market, which reduced the value of new information in form of unexpected inflation
The aim of this study was to investigate young men's experiences of being stopped by the Stockholm police in two marginalized areas in Stockholm. The study had a special focus on the experience of ethnicized location profiling, which became relevant in connection with the new law on inspection zones. To achieve the study's goals, a qualitative research method was used as the empirical evidence was based on six interviews with men who gave an account of their experiences and perspectives of marginalized communities. The empirical work has been analyzed using stigma theory, territorial stigma and labeling theory. The results showed that the men had gone through similar experiences during their conversations with the police, where the police's frequent interest was based on the men's ethnicity, appearance and area of residence. The men highlighted that this had an impact on the police's treatment, as the men felt that the police saw them as criminals and treated them differently from ethnic Swedes. Based on the men's previous experiences, they assumed that the inspection zones would worsen the image of marginalized communities and affect the living situation of the individuals of the community. Where there was a risk that the zones contribute to the stopping of innocents and that ethnic and geographic profiling increases

Treading the Ground Sensibly : Reflections on deep memory and embodied artistic research in the Mãe Preta art project
The chapter explores deep memory and embodied artistic research methods elaborated in our collaborative artistic research project, Mãe Preta ("Black Mother") that investigates the visual and social history of Black motherhood in Brazil, from times of slavery to the present. Using visual archives and participatory and embodied artistic methods, the project is contextualized in historical and political realities regarding the architectonic and visual legacy of slavery in Brazil, in a time of burgeoning Afro-feminist social mobilizations in the 21st century. The essay details our methodological approach, emphasizing ethical considerations such as building trust with cultural institutions and local communities, considering the role of a deep memory of the slave past as ways of critically addressing visual archives through installation, performance, and visual narratives. We highlight challenges such as securing funding from cultural institutions and navigating political agendas as well as issues of care in dealing with traumatic histories in contested terrains. Overall, the essay problematizes deep memory and embodied artistic research in landscapes of historical trauma in a way that is ethical and socially engaged. The authors hold the copyright to all the images, and we give permission for publishing them on Diva. </p
