Hur påverkar bonuserbjudanden och FOMO spelbeteenden? : En kvalitativ analys av konsumentbeteenden inom spelbranschen.
This study examines how bonus offers and FOMO ( Fear Of Missing Out) influence individual gambling behavior on online- based gaming platforms such as online casinos and betting sites. The aim is to understand how psychological and cognitive factors are exploited through marketing strategies to reinforce gambling activities. The theoretical foundation is based on four central theories: Social Comparison Theory, Dual Process Theory, Operant Conditioning and Prospect Theory. Data collection is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with players who have previous experience using digital gambling platforms. The result shows that bonus offers are often perceived as attractive yet manipulative. Many respondents reported that such offers caused them to gamble more than planned and that they felt influenced by the sense of “ getting something extra.” FOMO emerged as a strong driver, not only in relation to bonuses but also in the fear of being excluded from the community or missing out on potential winnings others might experience. The study also highlights the ethical dimensions of marketing within the gambling industry, where vulnerable groups risk developing gambling addiction due to aggressive or psychological designed promotional strategies. The conclusions indicate that bonus offers and FOMO are two of the most powerful tools in gambling companies strategies to retain and intensify player behavior. The study concludes with suggestions for future research and discusses the need for regulatory measures and consumer protection
From Shameful and Monstrous Portrayal to Empowerment : A Feminist Disability Study on How Lauren's Hyperempathy and Juliette´s Deadly Touch Give a Nuanced Perspective on Gender-Based Opression in Parable of the Sower and Shatter Me
This essay explores the intersection of disability and gender in Octavia E. Butler’s novel Parable of the Sower and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, with a focus on the female protagonists Lauren and Juliette. The essay examines how dystopian societies marginalize disabled women and how these women reclaim their autonomy through writing. This study argues that Lauren’s hyperempathy and Juliette’s deadly touch expose patriarchal and ableist systems’ oppression on the female body and the disabled body, ultimately revealing how they resist and reclaim their autonomy through writing. To analyze this, the essay uses feminist disability theory to explain how disability and gender intersect and contribute to the oppression Lauren and Juliette face. Hélène Cixous’ concept on écriture feminine is also used in the analysis to show how their writing becomes a tool of resistance and identity reclamation. Additionally, the essay uses Paulo Freire’s theory of critical literacy to argue that Parable of the Sower and Shatter Me hold significant pedagogical value, offering opportunities to foster students’ critical thinking and awareness of social injustices. By combining these theoretical frameworks, the findings show that Lauren and Juliette are rejected by society, not only because of their disabilities but also their gender. Their narratives show power dynamics where the men in their lives impose guilt and shame on them. The findings also highlight that writing is crucial for both female protagonists’ self-development, showing how they reclaim their voices, resist oppression and turn their disabilities into strengths through their personal writings.
The study shows that artificial intelligence (AI) in small and medium-sized enterprises is portrayed as both a resource and a risk for employees: the technology can increase productivity, job quality, and motivation, but may also generate stress, loss of control, and distrust. For AI to be perceived as beneficial, organizational support in the form of transparency, skills development, and social dialogue is required. The findings further demonstrate that the consequences of AI are not technologically predetermined, but are shaped through the interaction between technology, leadership, and the work environment
Remixing nationalism : Gender and sexuality in Russian popular music and its reception on TikTok and Instagram
The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022 has exacerbated Russian nationalism, as reflected inpopular music and its reception on digital media. This article explores the role of gender and sexuality in formulating and negotiating ideas about the Russian nation since the start of the full-scale invasion, focusing on the circulation and reception of the songs and music videos by theRussian singers Shaman and Tatiana Kurtukova. Both performers occupy a significant place within a broader landscape of Russian popular music and are popular onsocial media platforms, where users generate content that features their songs. The analysis focuses on the ways (dis)identifications with Russianness in and through popular music are performed and highlights popular music’s symbolic capacity to naturalize normative ideas about gender and sexuality as well as the war in Ukraine
The purpose of this study is to highlight how the balance between risky play and child safety in preschool takes shape in preschool teachers' professional experiences. The study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with six certified preschool teachers. The collected interview material was compiled and analyzed from a phenomenological perspective based on the concepts of phenomenon, lifeworld, intentionality, reflective awareness, and the lived body. The results show that risky play is not considered a problem to be avoided, but rather a necessary part of children's holistic development. How risky play is accepted and handled varies depending on the educator's competence and personal experiences. Thus, safety and freedom do not appear as two opposing poles that the educator must choose between, but as aspects that coexist in a dynamic relationship. The preschool teacher's lived experience, collegial conversations, and professional sensitivity are crucial to maintaining this balance. Based on the results of the study, we believe that further research should deepen the understanding of children's risky play from several perspectives. Future research could thus investigate how children themselves perceive and experience the phenomenon of risky play, as well as how they experience educators' presence, support, and boundary setting. We therefore see a need to allow children's own voices and experiences to emerge more clearly.
Lived religion beyond creed : Modern dance as a secular bodily practice
This essay analyses modern dance exercised by elderly participants that partake in the project Age on Stage. By looking at modern dance as a secular practice, exploring the experience of the self and existential meaning making it comparable to religious practice in Sweden. Drawing on theories of lived religion, embodied practice and religious reflexivity, the study explores the elderly participants experience and interpret dance as emotions, embodied experience and community. The empirical material is collected from qualitative interviews with six participants in the ages 65+. Following a qualitative content analysis examine how the participants described their experiences of modern dance practice and how their interpretation is perceived through a predominantly secular framework. The analysis shows that, although the participants identify as either non-religious or post-religious, their description of dance is expressed as meaningful, emotionally transformative, socially and culturally grounding. By exploring experiences as flow, joy and cross-boarded experiences that exceeds beyond the individual self and are often framed extraordinary. Not in a supernatural sense, but a fundamentally qualitative different experience from everyday state of being, that the participants assert special meaning to. External factors such as leadership, spatial context, and group dynamics play a significant role in shaping these experiences. When all factors of the dance practice go in a symbiotic state, then the experiences can temporarily transcend everyday life and contribute to a deeper personal meaning and purpose. Throughout the essay it argues that modern dance and (the arts) can be understood as a secular practice with religiously comparable functions. By offering insight into how embodied physical practice may operate as a form of lived religion in secular Sweden
