Background: TikTok is one of the most widely used social media platforms among young adults, especially university students. At the same time, previous research shows that mental health issues are increasing in this group. Social media can influence mental well-being in both positive and negative ways, depending on how and why it is used. Research specifically focusing on TikTok’s impact is still limited, making it important to examine how this platform relates to students’ mental health. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how TikTok is used by university students, how their mental health is experienced, and whether there is a connection between TikTok use and psychological well-being. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using a survey answered by 155 students at Mälardalen University. The questionnaire included ten items covering TikTok usage, mental health, and perceived connections between the two. Collected data was analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation. Results: The findings showed that most students use TikTok several hours a week. Some reported that the app affects their mood negatively, while others experienced a positive effect. Nearly half of the participants reported symptoms such as low mood and reduced interest in everyday activities. The analysis revealed statistically significant correlations between perceived negative effects of TikTok and symptoms of mental health issues. However, no strong link was found between the number of hours spent on the app and mental well-being. Conclusion: The study shows that TikTok is a common part of students’ daily lives and that some perceive a link between its use and their mental health. The results suggest that it is not only how much the app is used that matters, but also how it is experienced. To better understand this relationship, the concept of Sense of Coherence (SOC) may serve as a useful perspective
Developing Innovation Platforms for Regenerative Agriculture Through Innovation Teams
This study examines the development of an innovation platform for regenerative agriculture (RA) through a case study. The platform aims to transform the food system towards regenerative agriculture by promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange among various stakeholders. The research questions focus on how such a platform can be structured and what challenges and success factors arise during its development. The results indicate that a multifunctional core team, collaboration platforms, preferred partners, communication platforms, and university collaborations are central components. The study identified stakeholders and proposed a food system map for RA showing how the stakeholders are related to each other. Further, focus areas when stimulating the transition towards RA: knowledge, processes, support, digitalization and capital and risk, and activities supporting that were identified, as well as challenges and success factors. The conclusions contribute to the literature on innovation platforms and insights for practitioners. Limitations and further research are discussed.Regenerator-Innovationsplattfor
Fysioterapeuten saknar kunskap kring truppgymnastikens krav, kommunikationen brister och truppgymnaster behöver mer stöd kring biopsykosociala faktorer kring rehabiliteringen än som erbjudsBackground: Teamgym is the biggest discipline within Swedish gymnastics and the first official European championship was held in 2010 which shows how young the sport still is. Teamgym gymnasts suffer from sport injuries to a great extent and are then in need of a physiotherapist to help them rehabilitate and return to sport. Alliance between an elite athlete and physiotherapist is essential for the athlete’s rehabilitation. Previous research has shown multiple factors that are crucial for the alliance between an athlete and physiotherapist, for instance trust, communication and social support. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how elite teamgym gymnasts experience the alliance with their physical therapist during rehabilitation of a sports injury. Methods: Eight teamgym gymnasts, competing at elite level, from the same club in Sweden were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. Results: During the analysis three main categories emerged; the physiotherapists knowledge about teamgym, support during rehabilitation and the meeting with the physiotherapist. All of the main categories also had subcategories. Conclusion: Teamgym gymnasts are generally satisfied with the cooperation with their physiotherapist but can narrate several occasions when the physiotherapist is not enough to rehabilitate an elite teamgym gymnast. The physiotherapist lacks knowledge about teamgym, deficiencies in communication and teamgym gymnasts need more support around biopsychosocial factors about teamgym than is offered
The impact of cultural differences on consumers' perceptions of CSR : A study on how values shape interpretations of corporate social responsibility
Research question: How are consumers' purchasing decisions affected by different cultural perceptions of CSR? Purpose: The study aims to investigate how cultural differences affect consumers' perceptions of CSR and how these differences affect purchasing decisions Method: The study was conducted using a qualitative method and an abductive research approach. A questionnaire was used as a pilot study where 21 responses were collected for the design of semi-structured interviews where 6 participants were interviewed. Conclusion: The results show that despite varying cultural backgrounds among the respondents, there are similar perceptions of CSR, which indicates that the original cultural values have been integrated with the Swedish context in which the individuals find themselves. Transparency, ethical responsibility and skepticism towards CSR were central themes identified in the empirical material, the results showed that factors such as quality and economy were decisive factors in purchasing decisions, despite the demonstration of a desired ethical consumption behavior. Furthermore, the results indicate that CSR has the greatest impact on consumers when it is perceived as concrete, genuine and in line with the consumer's values
Are you in control of your choices or do you let the fear of missing out control you?
The study's results establish that, the commitment and consistency principle, the sympathy principle, the authority principle, and the scarcity principle according to Cialdini (2005) have a direct effect on consumers' purchase intention. The study's results suggest that when these principles include elements that trigger FOMO, they can influence consumers' purchase intention
EVALUATING THE FMI AND SSP STANDARDS FOR AEROSPACE CO-SIMULATION
The research demonstrates that simulation components can be successfully converted to FMI-compliant FMUs through a two-layer wrapper architecture, though with important technical considerations. Key findings include: (1) FMI 2.0's limited support for complex data structures necessitates flattening of Ada records, introducing processing overhead; (2) type system incompatibilities require workaround solutions; and (3) execution frequency coordination was handled internally within the components due to configuration complexity in the simulation engine. Despite these challenges, workshops with Saab engineers indicate that FMI and SSP could satisfy a large extent of their simulation needs, particularly for non-real-time applications with moderate complexity. The standards' primary value lies in facilitating passing of models between departments, potentially reducing integration time with automated processes. Testing with the open-source OMSimulator revealed additional limitations, including difficulties with algebraic loops and sequential execution patterns, suggesting that tool maturity remains a consideration. The findings suggest that while FMI 2.0 and SSP offer valuable standardisation benefits for aerospace simulations, their adoption requires careful consideration of performance trade-offs and implementation complexity. Future developments in FMI 3.0, particularly improved support for complex data structures and execution coordination, may address many current limitations. This research provides practical insights for aerospace organisations considering the transition from proprietary to standardised simulation interfaces, highlighting both opportunities and challenges in adopting industry standards for critical applications
Fairness in management : A vignette study on how presentation of information affects employees' perceptions of fairness
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to examine how employees perceive fairness in organizational distribution decisions characterized by uncertainty, varying return potentials, and differing allocation principles. The thesis also aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how such perceptions may relate to motivational processes, trust in management, and perceived organizational legitimacy. Method: Quantitative vignette-study Conclusion: The study shows that perceptions of fairness are shaped by both the distribution of outcomes and how information is presented. Even equal initial conditions can be perceived as unfair if the results are highly unequal. The findings highlight the importance of clear communication and an understanding of how individuals interpret economic systems within organizational contexts
