Beneath The Surface : Objects as a reflection on the wordless

    No full text
In this essay Beneath The Surface, I explored the themes of loss, memory, and personal identity, with a focus on the emotional impact of grief and the transformation of emotions through artistic expression. Thinking metaphorically, inspired by philosophers such as Foucault, Scruton, and Bachelard, I have examined the relationship between objects, memory, and meaning. It discusses how found objects, like spoons collected at flea markets, hold personal and historical value. These objects are deconstructed and deformed using goldsmithing techniques, symbolizing the fragmentation and reconstruction of identity.I investigated the medium of photography, using the digitalisation process as a material reflection to speculate and wonder what exists. In doing so, I compared this medium to the casting process to mirror a complete image of physical existence. This exploration of materiality creates a tension between presence and absence which is the core aspect to this research. While this essay addresses the role of rituals, such as family dinners and votive offerings, it also explores the intimate relationship between objects and individuals. The process of material transformation, referred to as material trauma, were every manipulation of the material, such as hammering or folding, leaves a trace of tension and release. These physical actions contribute to the formation of jewellery that carries not only its own history but also reflects upon the dialogue between the maker and their surroundings. Through these techniques, fragmented pieces are reintegrated into our social structure, with the aim of enhancing their wearability and thus restoring a sense of belonging. With this project focuses on the performative act and interaction between human and object and their environment

Centering in pottery turning : a phenomenographic study of informants' perceptions of tacit knowledge

    No full text

When All Things Come Together And Decompose. : --- Body without a Body

    No full text
Going back to my childhood memories of keeping silkworms. The physical existence of human beings was erased, and only my consciousness as an experiencer existed in my childhood bedroom. My existence in the past decomposed in the Animism Garden of my childhood. My physical body felt tired in human society, and my cyber body/consciousness returned to the "classroom", where the children worship silkworms and rejoice in their transformation - they are divine beings rather than any other manmade shapes. In the secret rituals, words from anthropocentric ideology are invading. Nevertheless, all the matter will be decomposed, as planetary changes, because in the end, the cosmos has it all... * -- An animism garden, without urbanization, politicization, or commodification– where nature reclaims itself, alongside the concept of "Extinction of mankind, everything comes alive.” MANIFESTO It seems to me that the choice of the topic for my degree project comes from my deepest desires. I asked myself over and over again "If you only had one chance, what would you do?" I am living in a human society. I saw a lot of terrible news on the internet every day. I feel angry, I feel desperate, and then soon I feel tired. I wish I could fix this problem because it creates some collective trauma, and the desire to "fix it" creates disaster again. In this project, I used to try to explain and justify my way of existence and "solve the problem". And I realized that I don’t have to. The "man-made society" gives meanings and binary to everything against every living being’s way of existence, for me, it is "man-made trouble", not nature. When I threw away all the labels, meanings, and binaries that were created by humanity, I was soon backed to the vast cosmos. There are NO BOUNDARIES between every living being. We are just lucky enough to exist, and everything we have will eventually return to the universe. Therefore I don’t need to explain my existence, like everything doesn’t need to. I am meant to be, I am a free being in the universe, and my body carries it, not the “political body” that others defined. I have the freedom to leave humanity behind and free from the body, existing as wind, a tree, a stone, and everything as “non-human” came alive. They were talking to me: "If the sun was going to explode tomorrow, what would you do?" When I started this project, the answer was not sure. This process is a journey to find my answers. I will take you to experience the not-so-beautiful landscape along the way

This essay presents a reflective exploration of existential themes, such as anxiety, bodily experiences, health and society. It is written in an experimental stream-of-consciousness shaped narrative, woven together with one of the author’s own poems ”something is stuck” (from 2024). Mixing up a discussion about the limitations and possibilities of language with a story about a personal encountering with the healthcare system (regarding a stressed bladder), and the complex concepts of fear and faith, it invites readers to ponder the mysteries of existence and an elusive pursuit of meaning. The text is crammed with symbolism and curious double meanings; the urine flows, in and out, the gold that glitters and the sun is shining, sinking and rising, surrounded by a multitude of incomprehensible points, or is it the eyes? Constantly looking, judging and longing, as it delves into the intricate tangles of uncertainty and the struggle to find… a starting point or perhaps a center point, or just any point at all amidst the chaos of life. The text explores a world where the rationalized order and efficient systems seems to be threatening the obscure and abstract, but where creativity and the power of reflection still processes an ever growing attraction, fighting for space to breathe.

Zombie textil : Att väva med levande dött material

    No full text
The increasing ecological impact of textiles and textile overproduction creates both local and global environmental concerns. Through the theoretical framework of speculative realism and the concept of alienation this paper investigates how textile art can be used to discuss the dark emotions connected to climate change. The project uses a method of material exploration to find new life to waste material from textile industry in Sweden. Through the zombie metaphor the life and death of waste is discussed. The paper finds that by giving material new life, creating zombie weaves; the darkness within the topic can be reached. The tactile qualities of the work bridges to counteract the alienation created from the lack of insight and understanding of material values. The project finds that embracing the darkness and getting to know the monster can make room for new solutions to the ecological crisis

    Sadness and Repetition

    No full text
This paper presents my Masters project Sadness and Repetition. The project is centered around artistic expression and repetitive processes serving a journal-keeping. This process is inspired partly by ancient traditions of prayer beads and partly by modern cultural practices of documenting everyday life through diaries. Drawing from previous work on other people’s feelings of sorrow, this project focuses on my own personal experience of everyday sadness. The journal-keeping consists of handmade steel links, connected into chains, on the one hand, and the deconstruction of a rag rug on the other. The work is framed in a wider context of personal trauma, societal mental health issues as well as female perspective

Waterworks - Akustisk vattenfiltrering för hemmet.

    No full text
Waterworks typically refer to a system or facility for supplying, storing, and treating water. It encompasses the infrastructure and machinery used to collect, purify, and \u2028distribute water to homes, businesses, and other users. The term can also mean starting to cry, especially to gain sympathy or attention. Additionally, it can refer to the organs of the body through which urine is passed. The climate crisis presents significant challenges to water filtration. Extreme weather events can contaminate sources. Harmful algal blooms, saltwater intrusion and toxins further complicate filtration. We might have to rethink how we take clean tap water for granted. This home water filtration unit that via acoustics filters the water, reimagines our relationship to drinking water and the habits around it, and the new behaviors and rituals that would emerge from this new normal.
