Two sides of a coin. SAS V.S SAS Pilot Group
The study aims to analyze how two actors, SAS and SAS Pilot Group, communicated during the pilot strike in 2022 through press releases published on their respective websites. The study analyzes how the actors used crisis communication attempting to build legitimacy in an internal conflict. The study is based on a qualitative content analysis of 10 press releases - five from SAS and five from the SAS Pilot Group. As theoretical starting points, legitimacy theories are used to analyze how the actors try to create cognitive, moral and pragmatic legitimacy. The results of the study show that both SAS and SPG strategically use legitimacy to gather support from their respective interest groups. Both parties use moral legitimacy and aim to highlight the wrongdoings of the other party. SAS also uses pragmatic legitimacy by offering solutions that are practical and rational. Instead, the SPG presents itself as a defender of justice and labor law by using moral legitimacy
The time after a crisis : A qualitative interview study on municipal communicators' interpretations of the end of the crisis, their use of response strategies, and their perceptions of citizens' views after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Community participation among people living with dementia : A scoping review
Introduction: People living with dementia often experience challenges in maintaining community participation, which is closely linked to their wellbeing and quality of life. There is increasing interest in creating dementia-friendly and inclusive environments; however, there remains limited understanding of their community participation. Aim: The aim of this review was to explore and describe current research and knowledge on the community participation from the perspective of people living with dementia. Method: Inspired by Årskey and O’Malley, a scoping review was used to search for literature in four scientific databases, in addition to Google Scholar and manual searches of reference lists. Data were analysed using descriptive qualitative content analysis. Results: The literature resulted in 519 hits and 11 articles were included. Three overarching categories were identified: characteristics of community participation, facilitators for community participation, and barriers for community participation. Conclusions: Community participation plays a significant role in maintaining identity, purpose, and wellbeing for people living with dementia. Significance: Occupational therapists and other professionals can support inclusion by addressing barriers, as well as advocating and promoting dementia-friendly and inclusive environments. Future research should explore ways to encourage and promote meaningful participation across different stages of dementia
Regulatory Policies and Corporate Sustainability in Nigerian SMEs: Exploring the Roles of Dynamic Capability and Institutional Theory in Shaping SMEs Sustainable Practices
Background: Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a critical role in Nigeria’s economy but face numerous challenges in implementing sustainable practices due to regulatory instability and limited capacity. Regulatory policies however shape SME behaviors through coercive, normative and mimetic pressures, yet they often impose high compliance burdens without adequate institutional support. Purpose: This study investigates how regulatory policies influence the adoption of corporate sustainability within the Nigerian small business environment, with a specific focus on the role of institutional and dynamic capabilities theories in navigating SMEs’ responses to regulatory pressures. Method: Using a qualitative, exploratory design, the study draws on 20 semi-structured interviews with SME owners, managers and regulatory officers across Nigeria. Thematic analysis was employed to interpret participants’ experiences in navigating environmental, social and economic sustainability dimensions. Conclusion: Findings reveal that while regulatory policies exert significant pressure on SMEs, their sustainability adoption is mediated by firm size, internal capabilities and institutional gaps. Many SMEs remain reactive, focusing on compliance rather than proactive sustainability. Strengthening institutional frameworks and supporting SMEs' dynamic capabilities is essential for advancing sustainable development in Nigeria’s emerging economy
ENHANCING GREEN TRANSITION STRATEGIES: THE ROLE OF PERFORMANCE INDICATORS IN SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING
Lighting design in learning environments adapted for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Lighting affects human health, well-being, and cognitive ability, particularly among individuals with neuropsychiatric conditions such as ADHD. Previous research indicates that people with ADHD are often light sensitive and negatively impacted by intense light and flicker. Despite this, clear guidelines for designing learning environments to meet their needs are lacking. The aim of this study was to examine how lighting influences individuals with ADHD, how it can be used to create inclusive learning environments and how such spaces are perceived by users. The study was conducted as a design based thesis project, combining a qualitative literature review and an experiment in a controlled classroom setting. A lighting design with three zones; Active, Focus, and Calm was developed based on previous research and tested by twelve participants. Half of them were diagnosed with ADHD. Participants assessed the lighting zones using a questionnaire containing both quantitative and qualitative questions. Results show that individuals with ADHD are more likely to perceive classroom lighting as overly bright and distracting. The Calm Zone with warm color temperature and low light intensity was the most preferred by both participants with and without ADHD. All participants appreciated the ability to choose between different lighting environments, suggesting that zoning is an effective strategy to meet individual needs. The analysis confirms that flexible and adapted lighting design enhances comfort, concentration and inclusivity in learning environments. Moreover, lighting optimized for individuals with ADHD does not affect those without the condition negatively, it benefits all users. The study concludes that lighting design should be considered as a key factor in creating inclusive learning environments. It recommends that lighting designers, architects, schools and researchers implement and further develop guidelines for ADHD adapted lighting. Future research should focus on the long-term effects of lighting environments that follow circadian rhythm, include additional design elements and expand participant diversity with different neuropsychiatric conditions
A study about how you can improve the fitting room experience through good lighting
Lighting in fitting rooms can be a decisive factor for customer satisfaction. It happens that a person when stepping in to a fitting room do not recognize themselves and feel uncomfortable due to the lighting. This may be because of the lighting highlights parts of the body one would rather not emphasize, or because shadows distort reality. Studies have shown that a combination of light from the front and from above results in the most effective lighting principle. This is further supported by a three-dimensional tool called modeling, which also emphasizes the combination of diffuse and directional light as a solution that makes an object appear natural. The aim of this study is to investigate which cylindrical and horizontal illuminance levels, and color temperature fitting room visitors prefer and whether individual lighting control can enhance the fitting room experience. The study is conducted in using experiments to examine cause-and-effect relationships with measurements (objective insights) and oral questionaries (subjective insights) used as data collection techniques for quantitative data. Parts of the experiment investigate how naturally people perceive themselves and their clothing in a lighting environment based on industry standards and recommendations, compared to a self-selected lighting setting. Raw data is analyzed using t-tests, descriptive statistics, correlation analyses and group comparisons to identify patterns and relationships. The results of the experiment show that people prefer their own lighting settings over standards and recommendations. There is no clear correlation between groups and preferences. The results show a wide variation, and after analysis it can be concluded that people’s preferences regarding cylindrical and horizontal illuminance levels and color temperature are highly individual. The study results in a conclusion that reinforces human individualism and emphasizes the importance of good fitting room lighting and its impact on the fitting room experience and purchase intention. The report concludes with suggestions for future research that could answer the ‘why’ question to gain deeper understanding of the subject
Differentiated Instruction for second language learners with varying language proficiency levels : An interview study on how teachers use differentiation strategies to address linguistically diverse student groups
Exploring client-centered practice in occupational therapy- A Greek phenomenographic study
Introduction: Client-centered practice (CCP) plays a central role in occupational therapy. Despite its strong presence in international literature, little is known about how Greek occupational therapists perceive and use it. Aim: The aim of the study is to explore and describe the conceptions of Greek occupational therapists about CCP in various clinical settings. Method: A phenomenographic approach was used. Nine occupational therapists participated, and the data collected through semi-structured interviews. The data analyzed according to seven steps of phenomenographic analysis. Results: Six categories emerged about how the CCP is understood, and seven different categories were created about conceptions regarding the computability of Greek culture and clinical context. Conclusions: Greek occupational therapists conceive the CCP with various ways, from superficial to more complex. Regarding the compatibility, systemic and cultural barriers hinder its application. Significance: This study highlights the need for discussion about the universal application of CCP
