The Index Effect in the Nordic Markets: Examining Returns and Volatility during Index Inclusions
This thesis examines the index effect in the Nordic markets, a phenomenon where stocks added (removed) to an index tend to experience positive (negative) abnormal returns. The study follows an event study methodology, and the results show that Nordic stocks exhibit only a temporary index effect in abnormal returns before the announcement date and during the effective date, with no significant permanent impact on price and volatility. The Price Pressure Hypothesis supports the findings and some evidence that speculation is driving the abnormal returns before the announcement date is provided. These findings imply that the index effect in Nordic markets exists but is rather short-lived and largely driven by temporary demand-supply imbalances. This contributes to the understanding of market efficiency in smaller markets and highlights a potential price anomaly that investors can exploit.

Can the U.S Trade Policy - Index Predict Excess Stock Returns? : A Study on the Swedish Stock Market During U.S Election Periods
Uncertainty, especially surrounding U.S. presidential elections, has been known to affect global financial markets. One key driver of this uncertainty is trade policy uncertainty, which has seen increased volatility in recent years due to political agendas such as the “America First” policy. Due to the U.S being an important trading partner to Sweden, it is interesting to investigate if there's a spillover effect on the Swedish market from American policies. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether the U.S. Trade Policy Uncertainty (TPU) Index can predict excess stock returns in the Swedish market, with a focus on election periods. Using a time series study and ordinary least squares (OLS) regressions, we analyze monthly data from 2005 to 2025 across the OMXS-30 index and seven major Swedish sectors. To evaluate forecasting power, we compare model performance against a historical average benchmark using root mean squared error (RMSE) in out-of-sample periods. The results show that the TPU-Index does not consistently predict excess returns. However, during certain election periods, particularly when global shocks are absent, the TPU model outperforms the benchmark in several sectors. Notably, all sectors demonstrate improved forecast accuracy relative to the benchmark in the 2020 election cycle despite all industries failing to show significance individually due to the Lagrange multiplier test. Our findings shows that, during stable market conditions, the TPU-Index can be used to forecast Swedish stock excess returns, with lower RMSE than the benchmark, indicating that the TPU-Index contains information not captured by traditional benchmarks and is therefore contradicting the semi-strong form of the EMH. While not statistically significant at all times, it still offers great practical value for investors and policy makers that want an alternative tool to predict future excess returns relative to the classical average benchmark
Seeing opportunities instead of obstacles : A qualitative study on how teachers successfully use fieldwork in their geography teaching
Research shows that teachers avoid fieldstudies in the geography teaching due to multiple difficulties associated with this teaching method, such as lack of teacher competence and the amount of time it requires. Since fieldstudies are a mandatory part of the syllabus in Geography in year 4-6 the teachers must find solutions to circumvent the existing obstacles. The purpose of the study is therefore to contribute with knowledge regarding how teachers say they use fieldstudies, as well as how they believe it should be used, in order to teach Geography successfully. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with five teachers in year 4-6 who incorporate fieldstudies into their geography teaching where they describe how they approach it, and how teachers should approach it, to manage or avoid common challenges. Furthermore, the study highlights and discusses the ideas of the pragmatism regarding education should focus on empirical methods, allowing students to base their learning on concrete experiences. The result shows that there are multiple things teachers can do to ease the difficulties and therefore being able to implement fieldstudies, for example working across subjects, to further educate themselves and to keep it simple. In conclusion, it is established that there are factors that can hinder or limit fieldstudies, but there is always something to investigate and it is worth the effort. It is all about seeing opportunities instead of obstacles.

Exploring Coopetition Relationships Among Asian Immigrant Entrepreneurs in Jönköping
Purpose: This research explores the dynamics of coopetition among Asian immigrant entrepreneurs in Jönköping, focusing on their relationship strategies. It aims to understand how these entrepreneurs compete and cooperate to achieve business success, and how trust, commitment, and co-ethnic social networks affect these relationships. The research aims to fill the gap in understanding coopetition in small cities like Jönköping. Methodology: In order to ensure a thorough grasp of the relational dynamics and patterns of 12 South Asian immigrant entrepreneurs in Jönköping, this study employs a multi-method qualitative approach that includes participant observation, digital ethnography, and semi-structured interviews. Theoretical Framework: Grounded in CTT and SNT, this study examines how trust, commitment, and co-ethnic social networks operate in a south Asian entrepreneurial context to sustain coopetitive relationships. Key Findings: Reveal that coopetition among Asian immigrant entrepreneurs in Jönköping is driven by a dynamic interplay of trust, long-term commitment and co-ethnic social networks. Coopetition among participants was driven by relational interdependence, where informal governance mechanisms (e.g., kinship-based trust) and selective resource sharing enabled mutual gains without eroding competitiveness. Cultural solidarity and transnational ties facilitated collaboration, while institutional exclusion from mainstream networks intensified reliance on intra-community partnerships. Theoretical Contributions: This research extends CTT and SNT by applying them to informal, culturally embedded entrepreneurial contexts, offering a nuanced understanding of coopetition as a socially embedded and culturally negotiated process. Furthermore, the study proposes a hybrid coopetition framework that integrates emotional, social, and economic factors, providing a richer explanation of how coopetition among immigrant entrepreneurs is developed and sustained in multicultural settings. Practical Implications: The study offers practical insights for policymakers, entrepreneurial support organizations, and immigrant entrepreneurs. It advocates for culturally sensitive support systems that leverage trust-based, community-centered approaches to foster collaboration and sustainable business growth. Future Research Directions: This research recommend future research on diverse demographics, institutional perspectives, cross-ethnic comparisons longitudinal studies, employing large-scale surveys for quantitative validation and evolution of digital platforms influence on coopetition behaviors among IEs. Future research should extend the suggested hybrid framework to test how trust and commitment interact in broader context of immigrant entrepreneurship networks
”I think it´s magical when you experience a moment of insight together” : A qualitative interview study on how teachers in grades 4-6 work with shared reading and adapt their teaching
This study addresses teaching through shared reading in the Swedish subject in middle school. In today’s schools, there are indications that reading-promoting activities decrease in higher grades, despite the fact PISA and PIRLS results indicate a decline in students’ reading comprehension. The purpose of the study is therefore to investigate how teachers in grades 4-6 work with shared reading and adapt their teaching based on students´ different reading abilities. A sociocultural perspective was used as the theoretical framework for the study. Data was collected using semi-structured qualitative interviews with five teachers in grades 4-6. The results show that teachers use activities such as paired reading, read-alouds and book discussions which promote students’ reading comprehension and interests in reading. The results also show that teachers adapt their teaching by using level-based texts and questions as well as different group configurations. Despite the challenges described with shared reading in the study, all teachers believe that it enables students to help one another and develop common understandings.
From Physical Presence to Digital Interaction : A Quality Improvement Project to Reduce Missed Appointments at a Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic and a Qualitative Study on Healthcare Staff’s Experiences of Digital Consultations
Samtidigt krävs systematik, organisatoriskt stöd och förankring i personalens erfarenheter för att skapa hållbara förbättringar i det kliniska vardagsarbetetMissed appointments remain a recurring issue in healthcare, with negative consequences for patient safety, work environment, and resource utilization. In rehabilitation services, the impact can be particularly significant, as continuity and adherence are central factors for treatment outcomes. However, digitalization has created new opportunities to reach patients through alternative means. The aim of this improvement initiative was to reduce the rate of missed appointments at a rehabilitation clinic by offering patients the possibility to convert physical appointments into digital ones, and to explore staff experiences of digital healthcare meetings. The work combined an improvement initiative based on the PDSA model with a qualitative study, in which focus group interviews were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. The improvement initiative did not result in a marked overall reduction in missed appointments, but a turning point was observed, with a slight decrease following implementation. Simultaneously, the proportion of digital meetings increased, and patients expressed appreciation for the improved accessibility and flexibility. The study showed that staff perceived digital healthcare meetings as a way to increase access to care, especially for patients facing practical barriers such as work, pain, or long travel distances. At the same time, several challenges were reported, such as technical issues, variations in patients' digital competence, and difficulties in interpreting body language and non-verbal communication. This created a need for linguistic clarity, technical support, and adapted working methods. The study highlighted that successful digitalization requires active leadership, stable infrastructure, and a culture of continuous learning. In summary, the work demonstrates that digital healthcare meetings can contribute to more accessible, individualized, and efficient care. At the same time, systematic approaches, organizational support, and grounding in staff experiences are necessary to achieve sustainable improvements in everyday clinical practice
