    No full text
This protocol documents the rationale and methodology for a scoping review that is being created to review the literature into peer run centres and crisis cafes

Does trauma-focused therapy change memory accuracy? - The selective effects of EMDR, IR and IE on involuntary and voluntary memories of an aversive experimentally induced event

    No full text
Research on the so-called misinformation effect has caused an ongoing controversy about the possible detrimental effects of imagination-based psychotherapeutic techniques on the validity of voluntary memory reports (Engelhard, McNally, & van Schie, 2019; Loftus, 2005). This has led to incomplete and incoherent narratives of traumatic events that have been addressed in psychotherapy to be inadmissible in court (Volbert, Steller, & Galow, 2010). In clinical practice, this proposition regularly confronts patients and practitioners with the dilemma: pre-trial-therapy or criminal justice (Bublitz, 2020)? Yet, up to date, systematic research into the differential effects of trauma-focused psychotherapies on memory accuracy (i.e., the degree to which a memory is correctly recalled) is scarce. We therefore want to systematically examine the effects of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR), Imagery Rescripting (IR) and Imaginal Exposure (IE) on the accuracy of experimentally induced, personally relevant aversive memories

The Efficacy Of Dental Imaging In Crack Teeth Diagnosis, A Systematic Review

    No full text
This systematic review aims to consolidate the existing evidence using a hierarchical model to analyse the demonstrated levels of diagnostic efficacy of dental imaging in a cracked tooth

Enablers of Family Recovery: A Scoping Review of National and International Literature

Motivation for a Non-Linear Diffusion Model for Conflict Tasks

    No full text
The purpose of this paper is to present a case for creating a Non-Linear Diffusion Model of Conflict Tasks. The paper aims to find a systematic difference between the mean difference in reaction time between incongruent and neutral trials versus congruent and neutral trials. The experiment we are running is a base Flanker Task with a letter block and arrow block to check for possible asymmetry in reaction time differences between conditions

Co-production and Mental Health Service Provision: A Scoping Review Protocol

    No full text
Introduction: In recent years, the mental health services have undergone much structural and organizational change. The battle between evidence-based practice and human-rights based approaches continues to rage onwards despite the growing evidence suggesting that both ideologies can be met through the adoption of a recovery-orientated service. There is much evidence available to suggest what such a service would look like if this became a reality. In Irish mental health services, ‘A National Framework for Recovery in Mental Health’ is the leading document supporting mental health services in their journey towards recovery orientation. Within the document, co-production is listed as a core recovery principle that underpins the organizational change necessary for recovery to become a reality. However, little empirical evidence is available to support its use within a mental health context. Therefore, this proposed scoping review aims to explore the concept of co-production within a mental health context in an effort to support a larger project into its implementation within such services. Method & Analysis: This proposed scoping review aims to investigate the concept of co-production within a mental health context. A PRISMA compliant scoping review is proposed, based on Arkzey and O’Malley’s framework. This framework documents a five staged approach to conducting scoping reviews. Search terms will be stated, and a variety of databases and repositories will be examined for relevant papers based on a stated inclusion/exclusion criteria. Discussion: The proposed scoping review will identify the various definitions of co-production whilst also identifying the potential effects co-production may have on mental health service provision. It will present gaps in the current literature which can be addressed by the larger project. Several limitations are also noted, including the inability to assess study quality and the amalgamation of two separate but interrelated research questions into one proposed scoping review

How do deliberative mini-publics shape perceived legitimacy of climate policies? A survey experiment

    No full text
A growing body of empirical research shows that deliberative mini-publics can increase legitimacy beliefs and civic skills among the citizenry. Depending on their function in democratic decision-making, mini-publics can be used to facilitate considered opinion-formation among the public at large, or they can be coupled with representative decision-making. When particularly targeted to lay citizens, mini-publics may have major impacts on knowledge and perspective-taking among voters (Knobloch et al., 2019; Suiter et al., 2020; Setälä et al. 2020). However, there are relatively few studies on the potential maxi-public impacts of advisory mini-publics coupled with representative decision-making. In this experiment, we study whether mini-publics giving policy recommendations for governmental decision-making affect perceptions of legitimacy and procedural fairness among the wider public. We study these effects with a population-based factorial survey experiment. In particular, we are interested in how communication about different aspects of mini-publics affects perceived legitimacy. In our experimental treatments, we manipulate the organizer, inclusion of different viewpoints, quality of information and outcome of deliberation. Unlike in many vignette experiments, our manipulation is not artificial. It is based on a description of an actual mini-public, organized in Spring 2021, where randomly selected Finnish citizens deliberated on climate policy. Commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment, this mini-public is expected to influence the preparation of national Medium-Term Climate Change Policy Plan

The Evidence-Base for Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP): A Protocol for a Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis.

    No full text
Introduction: Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) is a structured recovery education programme used internationally for anyone who wishes to create a positive change in their life. It was developed by Mary Ellen Copeland and Jane Winterling in the late 90s, resulting from a search of programmes or initiatives that could support their wellness. Since then, many studies have been conducted into the efficacy of the programme for those with a mental health/addiction challenge. However, to date there has been little to no synthesis of the evidence base for WRAP outside of the Copeland Center’s internal reviews. Methods & Analysis: The proposed systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate the evidence base for Wellness Recovery Action Planning within a mental health context. To do this, a PRISMA 2020 compliant review is proposed using the PRISMA-P statement as a guide to demonstrate the methodology to be undertaken. It outlines the inclusion/exclusion criteria, search terms and databases whilst informing the readership of timescales to complete such actions. Finally, this protocol also addresses issue of bias and quality within included studies. Discussion: This proposed literature review and meta-analysis will synthesise and examine the evidence base for WRAP using a systematic review methodology. It is hoped that this proposed review will identify gaps in the current literature regarding the programme and provide recommendations that will support the reviewers in their further studies, whilst also strengthening the argument for a whole system evaluation of WRAP within an Irish context
