    No full text
Baig, Jameel Ahmed/0000-0002-4338-9103Improper dye disposal pollutes the environment and endangers living species, underlining the need for more effective pollution detection systems. Therefore, the current study is focused on developing reliable methods for monitoring and controlling dye release in water using lead ferrite nanoparticles (PbFe12O19-NPs) as the most efficient iron-based material. In the current study, PbFe12O19-NPs were synthesized by a sol-gel method and characterized by advanced analytical techniques. The obtained finding revealed that the PbFe12O19-NPs possess a hexagonal structure with a negative surface charged smooth surface. They have an average particle size of 13.8 nm. The photocatalytic activity of PbFe12O19-NPs for the degradation of rhodamine 6G (RG) dye was evaluated under optimized conditions using UV-visible spectroscopy. The PbFe12O19-NPs-based developed method showed a degradation efficiency greater than 95% with LOD and LOQ of 0.0043 and 0.014 mg L-1, respectively. Moreover, the PbFe12O19-NPs as nano-catalysts showed active reusability and ease of separability due to their magnetic nature. The PbFe12O19-NP-based developed method was applied to real water samples and the RG degradation was found to be greater than 90% with an RSD of less than 3.0%.HEC Islamabad [14503]; Turkiye Burslarimath; Research Fellowship Program by the Prime Ministry of Turkey Presidency 2023; National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, JamshoroThe University of Sindh, Jamshoro's National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (NCEAC) has been recognized for providing well-equipped laboratory facilities for research projects. Giriş: Hodgkin lenfoma (HL), malign Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (HRS) hücreleri ile karakterize bir B hücreli lenfomadır. Etkin tedavi ile %80-90 oranında kür sağlanmaktadır. Malnutrisyon malignitelerde sık rastlanan bir durumdur hasta prognozunu etkileyebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada yeni tanı HL hastalarında prognostik nutrisyonel indeksin (PNI) genel ve progresyonsuz sağkalım üzerine etkisi değerlendirilmiştir. Yöntem: Bu çalışma, 2013 yılından itibaren Pamukkale Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Hematoloji Polikliniği’nde Hogdkin Lenfoma tanısı ile takip edilen 214 hasta ile yapılmıştır. Hastaların yaş, cinsiyet,ek hastalık varlığı, evre, Hodgkin lenfoma alt tipi, kemik iliği tutulumu, ekstranodal tutulum varlığı, B semptomu, 3 ten fazla lenf nodu tutulumu, verilen 1.sıra tedaviler, tanı tarihi, nüks varlığı-tarihi, ara değerlendirme PETBT ve tedavi sonu PET-BT yanıtları, tanı anındaki laboratuar değerleri (hemoglobin, lökosit, lenfosit, eozinofil, bazofil, nötrofil, trombosit, CRP, ESR, varsa B2mikroglobulin, LDH, albümin, fibrinojen ve d-dimer düzeyleri), son vizit tarihi, ölüm tarihi verileri değerlendirilmiştir. Biyokimyasal parametrelerle literatüre uygun olarak hesaplanan PNI veri olarak kullanılmıştır. PNI için [(Albümin g/L) + (0.005 x LYM 10*3 /uL)] formülü kullanılmıştır. Primer sonlanım noktaları olarak genel sağkalım süresi (OS) ve progresyonsuz sağkalım süresi (PFS) kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmada değerlendirilen 214 HL tanılı hastanın %66,8’i (n=143) erkek, %33,2’si kadındı. HL hastalarında daha fazla benzer çalılşma ile daha doğru sonuç sağlanabilirIntroduction: Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a B-cell lymphoma characterized by malignant Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells. With effective treatment, 80-90% cure rate is achieved. Malnutrition is a common condition in malignancies and may affect patient prognosis. In this study, we evaluated the effect of prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on overall and progression-free survival in newly diagnosed HL patients. Methods: This study was conducted with 214 patients who were followed up with the diagnosis of Hogdkin’s Lymphoma in the Hematology Outpatient Clinic of Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine Hospital since 2013. Age, gender, presence of comorbidities, stage, Hodgkin’s lymphoma subtype, bone marrow involvement, presence of extranodal involvement, B symptom, involvement of more than 3 lymph nodes, 1st line treatments given, date of diagnosis, recurrence.line treatments, date of diagnosis, presence-date of relapse, interim evaluation PET-CT and end-of- treatment PET-CT responses, laboratory values at the time of diagnosis (hemoglobin, leukocyte, lymphocyte, eosinophil, basophil, neutrophil, platelet, CRP, ESR, B2- microglobulin, LDH, albumin, fibrinogen and d-dimer levels, if available), date of last visit, date of death data were evaluated. PNI calculated in accordance with the literature with biochemical parameters was used as data. The formula [(Albumin g/L) + (0.005 x LYM 10*3 /uL)] was used for PNI. Overall survival time (OS) and progression-free survival time (PFS) were accepted as primary endpoints. Results: Of the 214 patients with HL evaluated in the study, 66.8% (n=143) were male and 33.2% were female. Low PNI values increase the risk of mortality and progression in patients. In the 5- and 10-year overall survival ROC analysis, the cut- off values for PNI were 46.4 and 48.15. Below these cut-off values, the mortality risk is 5.628 and 5.761 higher (p0.001). In the 5 and 10-year progression-free survival ROC analysis, the cut-off value for PNI was 48.35. The risk of progression was 2.481 and 2.462 times higher in patients with PNI values below 48.35 (p0.001). Conclusion: Malnutrition is a factor affecting prognosis in HL patients. PNI may be considered as an effective nutritional parameter on overall survival and progression- free survival in HL patients. More similar studies in HL patients provide more accurate results

Simsek, Alper/0000-0002-0513-4505PurposeUreteroscopy is one of the main diagnostic and treatment approaches for the upper urinary system luminal pathologies today. In recent years complication rates have decreased significantly. Standardizing ureteral damage after ureteroscopic interventions is of great importance for the management of complications. This study aimed to prospectively evaluate ureteral damage and factors affecting it in patients who underwent retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) with ureteral access sheath (UAS), RIRS without UAS, and stone treatment with semi-rigid ureteroscope.MethodsIn this study, we included patients who underwent endoscopic surgery for ureter or kidney stones in our clinic. The ureteral pathologies of 202 patients who underwent RIRS with UAS, RIRS without the use of UAS, and semi-rigid ureteroscopy were prospectively evaluated using the Post-Ureteroscopic Lesion Scale (PULS).Results75.7% of the lesions were PULS grade 1, 15.3% were grade 2. Lesions were most commonly located in the lower ureter during semi-rigid ureteroscopy, in the middle ureter during RIRS without a sheath, and in the upper ureter during RIRS with a sheath (p = 0.003). PULS 1 lesions (55.6%) were more commonly observed in the lower ureter, and PULS 2 lesions (41.9%) were also predominantly located in the lower ureter compared to other parts of the ureter.ConclusionIt should be kept in mind that ureteral damage may occur after the ureteroscopy procedure. The degree and localization of the ureteral lesion may vary depending on the procedure to be chosen. Evaluating ureteral damage using the PULS scoring system is important for patient management

Bayram, Yuksel/0000-0001-7507-0220During saffron production, parts of the flower that make up are released as by-products, including the petals and anthers. The aim of this study is to investigate the production of pekmez from these by-products and the nutritional value of this pekmez. The highest content of total phenolics of pekmez in different solvents was found to be 5.03 mg GAE/g. Analysis with Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) revealed high levels of the minerals potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium. The highest amount of vitamins B2 was found, followed by B7, B12, and B9. The ascorbic acid was found to be 256 mg/kg. As a result, pekmez from saffron byproducts, which was evaluated as a new product in this first study, proved to be a good source of natural antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Hence, it can be inferred that utilizing these by-products as raw materials in pekmez production could potentially enhance the sustainability of the agri-food system

    No full text
Background The 'Children's Assessment of Participation with Hands (CAP-H)' scale is a parent report questionnaire that can be used to measure participation in life situations that require hand use for children with disabilities. The aim of this study was to examine the reliability of a Turkish version of the CAP-H scale in order to evaluate the hand participation of children with physical disabilities and compare them with typically developing children. Methods Evaluation was made of a total of 182 physically disabled children (8.53 +/- 3.94 years) and 90 typically developing children (9.40 +/- 3.04 years). The CAP-H scale was used to evaluate children's hand participation, compare with typically developing children and to examine the reliability of the Turkish version. Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) were evaluated for internal consistency and test-retest reliability, respectively. Results Cronbach's alpha value used for all subscores was found to be excellent in all domains for internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha: 0.84-1). According to the test-retest reliability, it was found to be perfectly reliable in all domains (ICC: 0.81-1). There was a significant difference in all items of CAP-H (p=0.00) except for participation in self-care, frequency of recreational activities and frequency of educational domain in favour of typically developing children. Conclusions The results of this study demonstrated that the Turkish translation of CAP-H is a reliable evaluation for children's participation in life requiring hand use. In addition, hand participation of children with physical disabilities is lower compared with typically developing children

    No full text
Loneliness is a common public health problem that can influence individuals' depression outcomes. The incidence of loneliness among emerging adults is high. From this perspective, this study would serve two primary aims in Turkish emerging adults. The first was to examine the moderating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship between loneliness and depression. The second was to test whether gender moderated this moderating effect. The study sample consisted of 456 (213 females and 243 males) university-attending emerging adults, 18-25 years old. Firstly, the findings demonstrated that loneliness was positively associated with depression. Secondly, the results showed that emotional intelligence moderated the relationship between loneliness and depression, indicating that high emotional intelligence functioned as a buffer for the contribution of loneliness to depression. In contrast, higher levels of loneliness were significantly associated with a greater risk of depression among emerging adults with low or moderate emotional intelligence. Lastly, gender did not moderate the moderating effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship between loneliness and depression. This study concluded with limitations, recommendations for future research, and practical and theoretical implications for practitioners

Ccpe: a Tool To Quickly Extract, Format, and Present the Outputs From Gaussian and Veda Computational Chemistry Programs

    No full text
The analysis and interpretation of theoretical results remain significant challenges for researchers in computational chemistry, particularly when working with molecules containing a large number of atoms. The manual selection, organization, and interpretation of desired parameters from output files generated by computational tools can be error-prone, tedious, and time-intensive, often taking days to complete. This study introduces the Computational Chemistry Parameter (CCPE), providing extraction, formatting, and presentation of the computational data obtained from Gaussian and VEDA programs. By integrating outputs from the widely used GAUSSIAN and VEDA programs, CCPE provides an efficient, user-friendly solution for extracting and organizing key data such as vibrational modes, frequency assignments, optimization parameters, and molecular orbital data. This tool significantly reduces the time required for these tasks from several days to a matter of minutes, while minimizing the likelihood of errors. The CCPE software, developed using the C# programming language, emphasizes reliability and adaptability, offering researchers a practical means of handling complex computational data. Through its ability to generate publication-ready outputs in widely accepted formats, CCPE aims to enhance productivity and data accuracy, presenting a transformative step in the field of computational chemistry

    No full text
Sen, Alaattin/0000-0002-8444-376XThis study was conducted to investigate the mechanism of the potential and anti-inflammatory properties of nitrogen-substituted oleanolic acid derivatives that can be used to treat neuroinflammatory diseases. Nitrogen-containing oleanolic acid derivatives have been evaluated for their anti-neuroinflammatory effects in vitro in neuronal and monocytic cell lines at nontoxic doses, and the production of cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-6 and IL-17), the inflammatory enzyme induced nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and NF-kappa B signalling under LPS-stimulated conditions, and the expression of genes associated with Alzheimer's disease have been assessed. In addition, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation assessments are conducted in silico. Key protein markers of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease and neuroinflammation, TAU protein levels, and microglial activation, as well as ionised calcium-binding adaptor protein-1 (IBA1) levels, were significantly reduced with the addition of oleanolic acid derivatives. LPS-induced NF-kappa B luciferase reporter activity and iNOS activity were significantly inhibited, approaching the levels in uninduced controls. The mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines critical for neuroinflammation, such as TNF-alpha, NF-kappa B, IL-6 and IL-17, was reduced twofold to sevenfold. Furthermore, the molecular docking and MD simulation analyses revealed potential interactions with the TNF-alpha and NF-kappa B proteins. These findings underscore the potential of oleanolic acid derivatives, particularly compound 16, as candidates for further development as therapeutic agents for neurodegenerative diseases associated with chronic inflammation. This work was supported by Pamukkale University Scientific Research Projects Coordination [2023 ; Idot;AP002] and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Tuerkiye [119Z389].Pamukkale University Scientific Research Projects Coordination [2023Idot;AP002]; Scientific and Technological Research Council of Trkiye [119Z389
