Influence of silane coating and graphene oxide integration on the magnetothermal behaviors of la1-xsrxmno3 nanoparticles

    No full text
In this study, La1-xSrxMnO3 (x = 0.27, 0.3, 0.33) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized and then these nanoparticles synthesized in the core-shell structure were coated with silane for potential magnetic hyperthermia applications. In order to provide support material for the coated magnetic nanoparticles, silane-coated hybrid magnetic nanoparticles were obtained by producing graphene oxide (GO) nanoflakes. The structural and magnetic properties and magnetothermal properties of these structures were investigated. It was observed that the structure of the silane-coated magnetic nanoparticles remained intact and did not show any degradation compared to the uncoated materials. In addition, the highest saturation magnetization (MS) value was observed in the sample doped with x = 0.30. This value indicated that the heating power would be higher than the other doped samples in the specific absorption ratio (SAR) measurements. In this context, the heating amount in the silane-coated samples showed a slight decrease compared to the uncoated samples. Despite the decrease in the SAR values of the integrated samples by incorporating GO into the coated MNPs, it is anticipated that effective results will be obtained for practical applications with the advantage of increasing the thermal conductivity of GO.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [221S429]; TUBITAKThis study was supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under the Grant Number 221S429. This study analyzes the transformation of work life by focusing on the experiences of individuals with remote working experience, examining the historical development, current status, and potential future impacts of remote work models. The gradual replacement of traditional working methods with more flexible and digital-based work models has generated various effects on individuals, organizations, and society. Particularly in recent years, technological advancements and global crises (e.g., the COVID-19 pandemic) have made remote work an inevitable practice. Within this context, the study examines the advantages and disadvantages of remote work in detail and offers recommendations for the sustainability of this working model. The study employs the snowball sampling technique, one of the purposive sampling methods used in qualitative research. The critical incident technique is utilized to deeply explore participants' experiences related to the subject and to introduce innovative insights through this approach. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 30 participants in Denizli province, and a total of 26 codes were created from the data obtained through these interviews. Based on the identified codes, categories and themes were developed, and the findings were explained in accordance with the adopted methodology. The results of the study reveal that the sustainable implementation of remote work depends on the development of structural arrangements and solutions that enable individuals and organizations to adapt to this transformation. Among the most significant advantages of remote work are time and spatial flexibility, increased employee productivity, the achievement of work-life balance, and cost savings for organizations. However, key challenges identified within the remote work model include communication gaps, social isolation, inadequacies in technological infrastructure, and the blurring of boundaries between work and private life

    No full text
In this research, the synthesis and characterization of activated carbon from Posidonia oceanica seagrass have been carried out through physical activation (AC-PO) as a biosorbent for Cd2+ ions in solution. The physical activation process was carried out at a temperature of 600 degrees C and physical activation was carried out using the water-steam activator. The objective of the AC-PO biosorption test on Cd2+ ions is to ascertain the optimal contact time, the impact of temperature, the influence of concentration, the ideal dose, and pH, in addition to the kinetic model and biosorption isotherm pattern. The biosorption kinetics data of Cd2+ ions on AC-PO tend to follow a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The biosorption isotherms of Cd2+ ions on AC-PO tend to follow the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and D-R isotherm models with a correlation coefficient (R-2) of >0.9910. The thermodynamic parameters such as Delta G(o), Delta H-o, and Delta S-o were calculated for the Cd2+ ion, and it was determined that the biosorption was spontaneous and endothermic

    No full text
Purpose: We examined the relationship between albumin and C reactive protein (CRP)-related inflammation markers such as Controlling nutritional status (Conut) score, lymphocyte-albumin factor (LA), albumin-bilirubin score (ALBI), highly sensitive modified Glasgow prognostic score (Hs-mGPS), Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and locoregional treatment response in HCC. Materials and methods: One hundred and eighty HCC patients and 63 patients who underwent locoregional therapy were included in this study. Routine laboratory tests between the fourth and eighth week after treatment were recorded and albumin and CRP-related immuno-nutrition scores were calculated. Cut-off values from the literature were used. The predictive and prognostic value of these markers for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) after treatment were analyzed. Results: The mean age was 63 years (min-max:26-87) and 59 (93.7%) of the patients were male. The mean follow-up period was 25 months and 53 patients were deceased (84.1%). Median overall survival (mOS):18.56 months (min-max:13.13-23.99); median disease-free survival (mDFS):7 months (min-max:3.63-10.37) after locoregional treatment. Age (p=0.019), Conut (p=0.001), GPS (p=0.028), Hs-mGPS (p=0.012), LA (p=0.017) and ALBI (p=0.002) were significantly correlated with mOS. Conut (p=0.002), GPS (p0.001), Hs-mGPS (p=0.002), LA (p=0.002) and ALBI (p=0.001) were significantly correlated with mDFS. Multivariate analysis revealed that those aged ≥65 years (HR:2.10; 95% CI:1.02-4.30; p=0.042) and those who received no systemic therapy (HR:4.11; 95% CI:1.35-12.56; p=0.013) had an increased risk of death (p0.001). Another significant result was that a GPS of '2' (HR:6.62; 95% CI:1.13-38.62; p=0.036) predicted a higher risk of progression (p0.001). Conclusion: In this study, we found that age, Conut score, GPS, HsmGPS, LA and ALBI score significantly predicted mOS and mDFS in locoregionally treated HCC patients. All these results suggest that our prognostic modelling may be useful in clinical practice. © 2025, Pamukkale University. All rights reserved

Existing literature offers limited insights into the impacts of ACT-based PPIs, particularly concerning young people. The study explores the potential of this intervention to enhance positive psychological outcomes such as subjective well-being, self-compassion, and optimism, while reducing negative psychological outcomes like pessimism, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and somatic symptoms, and improving resilience. Conducted at a state university, the study involved 42 participants between the ages of 19 and 23 who were assigned to experimental (n = 20) and control (n = 22) group. The experimental group participated in an 8-week ACT-based PPI program. Employing a longitudinal experimental design, the study included a pre-test, post-test, and a follow-up test approximately two years later. Results indicated that the experimental group experienced significant improvements in positive psychological outcomes and reductions in negative outcomes, with the effects sustained during the follow-up period. Notably, long-term enhancements in resilience and self-compassion were observed. Overall, this study provides important evidence of the effectiveness of ACT-based PPI in promoting young people's long-term outcomes, with implications for developing intervention programs to support their mental health and well-being.We thank the participants of this study and those who developed the measures used.Mehmet Akif Ersoy Universit

A Complex Clinical Situation in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Hair-An Syndrome ' Report

    No full text
Hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, and acanthosis nigricans (HAIR-AN) syndrome is a distinct and uncommon form of polycystic ovarian syndrome. It manifests through hyperandrogenism (HA), insulin resistance (IR), and acanthosis nigricans (AN), along with symptoms like acne, hirsutism, irregular menstruation, and other androgen-related issues. A 17-year-old female with a history of childhood obesity and irregular menstrual cycles presented with weight gain and amenorrhea. Previously assessed for hirsutism with a Ferriman-Gallwey score of 14, she was found to have hepatic steatosis, ovarian cysts, and IR. She was advised to lose weight and prescribed metformin but did not adhere to the treatment. Four years later, she returned with further weight gain and hirsutism and was diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. The presence of AN, HA, and severe IR led to a diagnosis of HAIR-AN syndrome, and she was placed under observation. We used next-generation sequencing (NGS) to screen 70 genes for mutation and identify relevant genetic variations. The investigation targeted all exons and exon-intron junctions in genes, including ACOX1, GM2A, ACSF3, and others. Bioinformatics tools and in silico algorithms were used to assess the impact of the variants. No significant mutations associated with the patient's symptoms were identified. HAIR-AN syndrome can present in various forms and should be considered in cases of unexplained AN and menstrual irregularities. Early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of HAIR-AN syndrome can alleviate symptoms and improve patients' quality of life. This case presentation aims to evaluate the findings of a HAIR-AN syndrome that became very severe due to treatment noncompliance

Cankaya, Ozge/0000-0002-2116-8924; Yuksel, Selcuk/0000-0001-9415-1640The research aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Turkish Pain Catastrophizing Scale-Child (PCS-CTr) in children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). The study included 125 children (75 with JIA and 50 without JIA). PCS-CTr has been adapted following international translation steps. PCS-CTr was administered twice to 31 children with JIA at 7-14-day intervals. Validity was tested by confirmatory factor analysis and gold standard measures with the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory and the Visual Analogue Scale. Cronbach's alpha (alpha) for internal consistency and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) for test-retest reliability were used. Also, the PCS-CTr scores were compared to each group. Construct (RMSEA = 0.069, CFI = 0.962, TLI = 0.943, X2/df = 1.352) and concurrent validity (r=-0.533) were found good. The final model fits three factors with 13 items. Cronbach's alpha (0.706-0.912) and ICC values (0.649-0.900) were moderate to high. The psychometric quality of the PCS-CTr is good. A reliable and valid assessment tool could be used for children with JIA to assess pain catastrophizing. We recommend the PCS-CTr as a tool for assessing JIA children's pain catastrophizing
