Hibrit enerji santralleri için fizibilite çalışması: Karacaören-2 barajı ve hidroelektrik santrali
Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, enerji kaynakları açısından dışa bağımlılığı yüksek olan
Türkiye’nin yenilenebilir enerji potansiyelini değerlendirmek ve enerji arz
güvenliğini artıracak sürdürülebilir çözümler sunmaktır. Bu kapsamda su ve rüzgâr
enerjisinin birlikte kullanıldığı hibrit bir enerji sistemi tasarlanmıştır.
Çalışma alanı olarak, Akdeniz Bölgesi'nde Aksu Çayı üzerinde bulunan
Karacaören-2 Barajı ve Hidroelektrik Santrali seçilmiştir. Mevcut baraja yakın
bölgede bir Pompaj Biriktirmeli Hidroelektrik Santral (PHES) kurulumu
planlanmıştır. Ayrıca bölgenin sahip olduğu yüksek rüzgâr enerjisi potansiyeli,
Rüzgâr-PHES şeklinde bir hibrit enerji santrali tasarımına olanak sağlamaktadır.
Yapılan çalışmada PHES ile rüzgar enerjisinin birbirini tamamlayıcı özellikleri
dikkate alınarak teknik, ekonomik ve çevresel analizler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hibrit
sistem, PHES tesisinin enerji depolama sürecinde gerekli olan enerjiyi, rüzgâr
türbinlerinden sağlanan yenilenebilir enerji ile karşılamayı hedeflemektedir.
Türkiye elektrik sistemindeki arz-talep dengesizliklerinin giderilmesi için PHES
sistemlerinin yaygınlaşması önemlidir. Bu sistemlerin etkinliğini artırmak amacıyla
hibrit enerji kaynakları kullanımı teşvik edilmektedir. Yapılan ekonomik analizler,
önerilen hibrit sistemin ekonomik olarak avantajlı olduğunu ve enerji arz güvenliğine
önemli katkılar sağlayacağını göstermiştir. Ayrıca bu çalışma, Türkiye'de hibrit
enerji çözümlerinin yaygınlaştırılması için önemli bir referans niteliğindedir.
Sonuç olarak, su ve rüzgâr enerjisinin bir arada kullanıldığı bu yenilikçi hibrit enerji
modeli, Türkiye’nin yenilenebilir enerji hedeflerine ulaşmasına katkıda bulunacak ve
enerji sistemindeki dengesizlikleri giderecek sürdürülebilir bir çözüm sunacaktır.The central objective of this thesis is to evaluate the potential for Turkey to generate
renewable energy, a nation that is heavily reliant on imported energy resources.
The thesis further aims to propose sustainable solutions that will enhance energy
supply security. In this regard, a hybrid energy system that integrates hydropower
and wind power has been conceptualised.
The selected study area is the Karacaoren-2 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant,
located on the Aksu River in the Mediterranean Region. A Pumped Hydro Energy
Storage (PSH) system is planned near the existing dam. The area's substantial wind
energy potential facilitates the development of a hybrid wind-PHES energy plant.
The study incorporates technical, economic, and environmental analyses, with a
focus on the complementary nature of PHES and wind energy systems. The
proposed hybrid system aims to supply the necessary energy for PHES storage
processes using renewable energy generated by wind turbines.
The promotion of PHES systems is imperative for addressing Turkey's electricity
supply-demand imbalances. The utilisation of hybrid energy sources is advocated
in order to enhance the efficiency of these systems. The economic analyses indicate
that the proposed hybrid system is economically viable and contributes significantly
to energy supply security. This study is also significant as a reference point for the
promotion of hybrid energy solutions in Turkey
Effect of Different Remineralization Agents on the Optical Properties of Bleached Enamel
Background The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different remineralization agents applied immediately after bleaching on the colour stability, whiteness index and whiteness index difference of enamel. Methods One hundred enamel samples from bovine incisors were divided into two groups for at-home and in-office bleaching. The samples were further divided into five subgroups: (1) Acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF), (2) Casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate fluoride (CPP-ACPF), (3) Calcium glycerophosphate, fluoride (CaGP, F), (4) Hydroxyapatite, fluoride (HAp, F), and (5) control. After treatment, all samples were stained with red wine. Color measurements were taken at baseline, after bleaching, after remineralization, and after staining using a dental spectrophotometer. Optical parameters included L*, a*, b*, CIEDE2000 color difference (Delta E00), whiteness index for dentistry (WID), and whiteness index difference (Delta WID). Statistical analyses were performed with Kruskal Wallis, Friedman, and Dunn tests. Results Color and whiteness differences after bleaching were statistically similar between in-office and at-home bleaching (p > 0.05). Remineralization protocols had no significant effect on enamel color or whiteness across all groups (p > 0.05), but significant differences were found between the CPP-ACPF, CaGP, F, HAp, F, and control groups (p 0.05). Conclusion Application of remineralization agents after bleaching was found to be ineffective on color and whiteness change of bleached enamel. Remineralization agents containing HAp, CPP-ACP and CaGP, respectively, were found to be more successful in terms of color stability

Computed Microtomographic Imaging of Revascularization During Healing of Achilles Tendon Injury
Ocak, Mert/0000-0001-6832-6208; Cam, Sefa Burak/0000-0002-9146-4024Angiogenesis in injured tendons may contribute to regeneration, but quantifying it post-injury has been mostly limited to 2D semi-quantitative histology. This study aimed to develop micro-CT as a 3D tool to quantitatively assess tendon blood vessels in an experimental animal model. Adult male Wistar rats (N = 36) had injuries induced in their Achilles tendons by needle insertion. The study included three post-injury groups: 12 hours post-injury (12H), 3 weeks post-injury (3W), and 8 weeks post-injury (8W). The uninjured left Achilles tendon served as the control for each group. Intravital cardiac perfusion with barium sulfate enhanced contrast between tendon and vasculature. Micro-CT imaging was performed on dissected tendons in proximal, middle, and distal regions to assess total volume, object count, and structural thickness from 3D reconstructions. Control tendons showed region-specific and age-related vascular changes, with a significant portion of blood supply originating from the muscle-tendon junction. Injury-induced vascular changes were detected by 3D micro-CT analysis. The 12H, 3W, and 8W groups exhibited increased total volume, structural thickness, and object volume in all tendon regions compared to controls (p 0.05). Structure separation was also higher in the middle and distal regions of these groups (p 0.05). Micro-CT combined with intravital contrast perfusion allows for 3D quantification of Achilles tendon angiogenesis, revealing a significant and sustained increase in vascularity post-injury, making it a valuable tool for studying vascularization during tendon injury and repair.The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey [1059B191800374]; Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)M. An Innovative Performance Evaluation Approach for Textile Businesses
This study presents an innovative performance management system for a semiintegrated textile enterprise focused on towel and bathrobe production. The critical processes identified include weaving, dyeing, garment production, procurement, and marketing. Performance dimensions and indicators were determined through literature reviews and focus group meetings. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to calculate the relative weights of these processes and performance indicators. The proposed system enables a structured evaluation of firm performance, offering numerical visibility and a clear pathway for achieving strategic objectives. By providing a hierarchical roadmap, the system facilitates improved decisionmaking and long-term success. It acts as a decision support tool for executives and managers, aligning operational performance with strategic goals and offering data-driven insights for enhancing overall company performance. Energy-efficient hierarchical cluster-based routing strategies for Internet of Nano-Things: Algorithms design and experimental evaluations
Nanodevices (NDs), which are only a few nanometers (nm) in size, need to communicate with each other to perform complex operations. In nanonetworks, this communication typically involves multiple hops, requiring efficient routing protocols. Existing protocols are not well suited for nanonetworks due to their high resource consumption and setup overhead. In this paper, we propose three novel routing protocols for nanodevices. Non-Back Flooding Routing (NBFR) and Layer-Based Flooding Routing (LBFR) aim to reduce unnecessary packet transmission by utilizing distance and layer information based on received signal power. On the other hand, Tree-Based Forwarding Routing (TBFR) is a unicast-based approach that aims to transmit the packet to the destination using the shortest and most reliable path possible through a tree structure. The performance of these proposed methods is compared to well-known methods in terms of packet transmission, energy consumption, end-to-end delay, and setup overhead. TBFR achieved a packet transmission success of 92.95% in topology with the highest density of nanorouters (NRs), while it reached up to 99.57% for fewer nanorouters. Moreover, its end-to-end delay values are much lower than those of multi-path routing protocols. It also consumed one-fifth of the energy compared to its most challenging multi-path competitor, NBFR, regarding packet transmission success. However, for dense nanosensor (NS) topologies, NBFR and LBFR achieved higher packet transmission rates of 87.04% and 86.66%, respectively. Furthermore, in addition to achieving low end-to-end delays, the energy consumption of NBFR is very close to that of TBFR. In summary, the tests show that TBFR is more suitable for communication among nanorouters due to the requirement of building the tree structure, which results in a slightly higher setup overhead. In contrast, NBFR and LBFR are more suitable for communication between nanosensors because of their simplicity and low setup overhead. But, it should be noted that NBFR requires a larger header than the other alternatives. © 202
Antifungal Prophylaxis and Treatment of Breakthrough Invasive Fungal Diseases in High-Risk Hematology Patients: a Prospective Observational Multicenter Study
We aimed to investigate the approaches for antifungal prophylaxis (AFP) and antifungal treatment in breakthrough invasive fungal diseases (IFDs) under AFP in high-risk hematology patients. Patients ≥ 18-years who received chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or a conditioning regimen for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) with a duration of neutropenia ( 500 cells/mm3) ≥ 10 days were included in a prospective multicenter observational study. Patients were followed until one week after recovery from neutropenia, discharge from the hospital, or death, which comes first to define the success of AFP. A total of 230 patients were recruited from 18 centers in seven months. Posaconazole prophylaxis was used in 134 (44 of whom failed) and 96 patients received fluconazole (28 of whom failed). The survival rate at 12 weeks after the initiation of AFP was higher in patients with successful prophylaxis (96.2% vs 56.9%, p 0.001). IFDs were diagnosed in 27 patients. Duration of neutropenia was the only risk factor (OR: 1.03; 95% CI: 1.004–1.053) for development of IFDs. The types of breakthrough IFDs were; possible IFD in 15 patients, probable invasive aspergillosis (IA) in 9 patients, proven IA in 2 patients; and proven mucormycosis in 1 patient. Voriconazole was the drug of choice in 16 patients (5 of whom failed). Liposomal amphotericin B was used in the treatment of 8 patients (4 of whom failed). Posaconazole was the most frequently prescribed AFP in AML patients with high compliance to international guidelines. Pollen Morphology of Gentiana L. (Gentianaceae) in Türkiye
This study investigates the pollen morphology of 13 taxa of Turkish Gentiana using a statistical approach, contributing to their taxonomy. The aim is to elucidate the palynological characteristics of the taxa and to reveal their contributions to the systematic understanding of the genus Gentiana. The pollen grains are monad, radially symmetrical, isopolar, and tricolporate. The shapes of pollen grains are mostly oblate-spheroidal, occasionally subprolate, and rarely spheroidal. The polar axis ranges from 27.92 to 35.80 μm, the equatorial axis 25.33 to 35.42 μm. The ornamentation type is mostly observed as striate-perforate; however, striate-reticulate, striate, rugulate, reticulate, and rugulate-perforate types have also been observed. The result of numerical analyzes showed that Turkish Gentiana were divided into three groups. The results of PCA analysis, correlated with 84.2% ratio, showed that pollen characters grouped into three principal component. According to PCA analysis, the pollen characters to be used for cluster analysis were determined. Equatorial axis, Clt, Plg, pore diameter, mesocolpium, and apocolpium of the measured pollens are in the first principal component (explains 53.4%). Polar axis, Clg, p/e of the pollen characters are in the second principal component (explains 20.4%). Exine, intine, and Clg/Clt are in the third principal component (explains 10.4%). In conclusion, ornamentation type, polar axis, Clg, Clt, pore diameter, intine, exine, and mesocolpium have been identified as significant and distinguishing characters in taxonomy. Our results support the close relationship among some taxa (i.e., G. gelida and G. boissieri, G. verna subspecies, G. pyrenaica, and G. aquatica). © 2025 The Author(s). A Fluorometric Method for Diclofenac Determination in Liquid Formulations: Experimental and Computational Assessments
Diclofenac (DCF) is an important non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug frequently used to relieve rheumatic pain and acute injuries. Therefore, determination of DCF in real-life samples using an efficient and cost-effective indirect method is vital in pharmaceutical science. The proposed novel method is based on the formation of a solid Zn-BMHM complex (chemosensor BMHM; (E)-1-((((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)methyl)imino)methyl)-5-methylphenol) via the displacement of zinc ions from the Zn-DCF complex in an ethanol medium. The method consists of rapid precipitation steps that prevent interference effects and a turn-on fluorescence effect by using a chemosensor. The increase in fluorescence intensity was linearly correlated with the concentration of Zn-DCF solution over the range of 5.0-50.0 mu M (R2: 0.999) with a LOD value of 1.64 mu M. The method was applied to liquid pharmaceutical formulations and obtained excellent recovery values (99.09%-103.9%). Geometry optimization, molecular orbitals, and NBO population analyses were performed using density functional theory to display the exchange reaction's characteristics between ligand DCF and chemosensor BMHM. Global reactivity parameters and local interaction sites on the DCF and BMHM were examined in detail in view of the analyzed reaction. Effect of the Strategy Game Mangala on Cognitive Function, Anxiety, Depression, and Fine Motor Skills in Individuals With Alzheimer's Disease: a Randomized Controlled Trial
Cognitive impairment, changes in mood, and decrease in fine motor skills are some of the most common symptoms experienced by individuals with Alzheimer's Disease (AD). This study aimed to investigate the effects of the Turkish intelligence and strategy game Mangala on cognitive functions, anxiety, depression, and fine motor skills in individuals with AD. In this randomized controlled study, 37 participants were divided into Mangala Group (MG) and Control Group (CG). Both the MG (n = 18) and the CG (n = 19) attended daily physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions. Additionally, the MG played Mangala 2 sessions/week for six weeks. The mood state was evaluated using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD), cognitive functions were examined using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA), and fine motor skills were measured using the Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT). There was no significant difference between the groups pretreatment in terms of MoCA, depression and NHPT values (p > .05), except anxiety levels (p= .009) The MG showed significant improvement post-treatment in terms of MoCA and HAD anxiety (p =.0001 and p =.0008), HAD depression and fine motor skills (p =.043 and p =.0001). There were significant improvements in favor of MG in MoCA (p =.014) and NHPT (p =.004), but not in HAD anxiety (p =.782) and depression (p =.514) scores in terms of delta (difference between pre and post treatment) values.
