Performing and visual arts have a long history at UIndy. Vocal ensembles were popular among students in the early days, and an impressive faculty concert series has continued to grow since its launch in 1958. The Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center (1994), however, put the University’s arts programming on the map, and its Ruth Lilly Performance Hall’s boasts acoustics are as fine as those in any such hall in the Midwest. An outdoor sculpture walk makes the entire campus an art gallery.Maestro Raymond Leppard is shown walking on stage from the right. Pack the Saddle
What first became known as the “Conner Prairie Concept” because it was so new, later developed into the groundbreaking “Opening Doors” approach to guest interaction. This title means that interpreters take the lead in opening doors to the past for their guests. Staff adapted to how different guests learn and what their interests are. It has created a new model for living history interpretation making Conner Prairie the new leader in “living history."Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
