    Practice of handicraft and experimental classes for schoolchildren

    publisherTsuyama National College of Technology has continued every effort to increase the number of applicants for admission. Despite holding the open campus event and the extension lectures, we have still struggled to find out the effective way to achieve this objective. We participated in the JFE festival as a publicity activity in the southern area of Okayama prefecture on November 3, 2006. We conducted three handicraft classes and one experimental class, aiming at schoolchildren to have interest in science and technologies. In this report, we described how to conduct and carry out them. With the results of this event, we conclude that the classes successfully gave many schoolchildren fun of technologies and provoked them to learn science.departmental bulletin pape

    A study on performance improvement of Active Net model

    publisherWe have studied about the structure and the performance about Active Net model. Active Net is a two dimensional network model which is a expanded version of the snakes model. In Active Net, when the extraction target object and the other small region, is called noise in this paper, exist in an input image, there is a problem such as a target can't be captured or iterative operation's not ending because the energy of Active Net isn't minimized right. We propose the method, the lattice points of the net model are moved by compulsorily changing energy of the net model at random. As a result, reducing the influence of the noise becomes possible.     Influence of repetition of high-temperature treatment of H(2)O(2)-treated graphite on adsorption of Ar

    publisherA natural–graphite powder previously oxidized in H2O2 aq.soln. was heated under flow of 1 atm Ar at 1000℃ repeatedly, and measured volumetrically for its adsorption–desorption isotherms of Ar at –196℃ after each heat treatment. It was found that the more often the graphite was heated, the less the amount of Ar adsorbed became. Every sample gave the adsorption isotherm with a remarkable step over the relative pressures from 0.3 to 0.4. And besides, the hysteresis between the adsorption branch and the desorption one did not change in shape through repetition of the heat treatment at 1000℃. These facts are briefly discussed in terms of porosity for the graphite samples.departmental bulletin pape

    TNCT independently blocking of spam e-mail and its effects

    publisherE-mail has become a necessary means of communication for various businesses and daily lives. In recent years, spam e-mail has increased as e-mail has become more popular, and now, the spam is an object of public concern. Like a letter or a card, an e-mail should not be censored and restricted. Without blocking the spam, however, unmanageable spam or computer virus attached the spam may damage computers and their networks. In our college, blocking of the spam has been implemented on our mail servers since 2004. We adopted not content-based but IP-based filtering to respect the privacy of users. The blocking only needs functions of Postfix mail server program without optional software and/or hardware. And it can be configured, maintained, and monitored by our own hands.     Study of Amorphous Carbon Nitride Films Aiming at White Light\nEmitting Devices

    publisherThe possibility for white light emitting devices using carbon nitride (CNx) thin films has been studied. Microwave ECR-plasma CVD and RF-sputtering apparatuses have been used for the formation of CNx thin films. In both cases, CH4 was used as the source or sub-source of carbon in order to investigate the effect of hydrogenated carbon nitride for luminescence. The cathodeluminescence (CL) measurement of the film grown by ECR-plasma CVD method showed three peaks of R/G/B. The photoluminescence (PL) measurement of the film grown by RF-sputtering also showed the red peak, which could not be observed in the film without hydrogen. Together with the X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) analysis data, we concluded that the red peak originates from C-H bonds and blue peak from C-N bonds.departmental bulletin pape

    Simulation as for Position of Electrode spot of Fluorescent Lamp for High Frequency Operation

    publisherIt is very useful for thinking the lamp life to grasp the spot position of the electrode filament of the fluorescent lamp. In this research, the spot position on the electrode of the fluorescent lamp was grasped by regarding the electrode as the electric circuit, which consisted of the resistance and inductance. The calculated result showed the following two things. Firstly, the spot position at cathode cycle moves as the lighting time increases. Secondly the spot position at the anode cycle does not move as much as at the cathode cycle.departmental bulletin pape
