    Homalothecium philippeanum (Spruce) Schimp. (Bryophyta) Ekstresinin Asetilkolinesteraz Enzim Aktivitesine Etkisi

    Amaç: Alzheimer hastalığı yaklaşık 50 milyon insanı etkileyen ve en sık görülen nörolojik bozukluktur. Kolinerjik hipoteze göre sinir iletiminden sorumlu asetilkolin konsantrasyonunun azalması hastalıkla ilişkilendirilmektedir. Asetilkolini metabolize eden asetilkolinesteraz enziminin inhibisyonunun hastalık seyrinde düzelmeye yol açtığı bilinmektedir. Bu nedenle bu çalışma, ilk kez karakterizasyonunu yapılan kara yosunu türü Homalothecium philippeanum (Spruce) Schimp. ekstresinin asetilkolinesteraz enzim inhibisyon etkisini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem: Homalothecium philippeanum (Spruce) Schimp. ekstresi süperkritik akışkan (CO2) ekstraksiyon yöntemiyle 180 bar basınç, 50 °C sıcaklıkta ve kosolvent olarak %5 (v/v) etanol kullanılarak Superex F-500 (Türkiye) cihazında elde edilmiş olup GK/KS analizi Schimadzu GCMS-QP 2020 sisteminde wax kolon kullanılarak yapılmıştır (RESTEK Rtx-Wax kolon, 30m x 0,25mm x 0,25 ?m film kalınlığı). Ekstrenin düşük, orta ve yüksek dozlarının asetilkolinesteraz enzim inhibisyon etkisini belirlemek için Ellman ve ark. (1961) tarafından oluşturulan spektrofotometrik yöntem küçük modifikasyonlarla değiştirilerek uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Homalothecium philippeanum (Spruce) Schimp. ekstraktının düşük düzeyde anti-Alzheimer aktivite gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Elde edilen veriler ışığında Homalothecium philippeanum (Spruce) Schimp.’in düşük düzeyde anti-Alzheimer etki gösterdiği saptanmış olup söz konusu etkinin tam olarak anlaşılması ve ticari ürün haline dönüştürülebilmesi için daha ileri araştırmalarla etken madde tespiti ve izolasyonunun yapılması gerekmektedir

    Novel Tb3+-Doped LaAl2 B4 O10 phosphors: Structural analysis, luminescent properties, and energy transfer mechanism

    This study explores the structural and luminescent properties of terbium (Tb3+)-doped lanthanum aluminium borate (LaAl2B4O,0, abbreviated as LAB) phosphors, a novel host lattice for Tb3+ doping. LAB:Tb3+ phosphors, with varying dopant concentrations, were synthesized using a microwave-assisted combustion synthesis approach and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Rietveld refinement, and photoluminescence spectroscopy at both room and low temperatures. The structural analysis confirmed the hexagonal crystal structure of LAB and revealed successful incorporation of Tb3+ ions without altering the fundamental lattice. Luminescence studies demonstrated that the LAB:Tb3+ phosphors show strong green emission primarily attributed to the 5D4 -> 7F5 transition of Tb3+. The optimal doping concentration was determined to be 5 wt% Tb3+, which provided maximum luminescence efficiency. This concentration also allowed for a critical study of energy transfer mechanisms within the phosphor, revealing dipole-dipole interactions with a critical distance of 9.80 & Aring; between Tb3+ ions. Additionally, the CIE chromaticity coordinates of LAB:0.05 Tb3+ were precisely determined to be (0.289, 0.4460), indicating the potential for high-quality green emission suitable for solid-state lighting and display technologies.     Entamoeba histolytica in Different Water Sources of Niğde Province of Turkey

    Purpose This study was carried out to determine the presence of Entamoeba histolytica in water sources of Ni & gbreve;de province in Turkey, between June and November 2021. Methods A total of 90 water samples were taken from 15 different water sources (drinking water, well water, spring water, wastewater and dam water) every month and the presence of E. histolytica antigens in the samples was examined by ELISA. Results The positivity for E. histolytica was determined in 7 (7.7%) of 90 samples. While no antigens were found in any of the samples in June and September, E. histolytica was positive for three samples (20%) in July, one sample (6.6%) in August and October and two samples in November (13.3%). One of 24 dam samples (4.1%), 1 of 12 wastewater samples (8.3%), 1 of 12 well samples (8.3%), and 4 of 24 fountain samples (16.6%) that examined by ELISA were found positive. On the other hand, none of the examined 18 spring samples were positive. In addition, 4 (8.8%) of 45 samples that examined in summer and 3 (6.6%) of 45 samples that examined in autumn were detected positive by using ELISA. Entamoeba histolytica positivity in samples was statistically insignificant in terms of months, water resources and seasons (P > 0.05).     Effect of expanded natural graphite addition and copper coating on reaction kinetics and hydrogen storage characteristics of metal hydride reactors

    Experimental and numerical studies are carried out to determine the effects of copper coating and/or ENG (expanded natural graphite) addition on the hydrogen storage performance of ground LaNi5. The amounts of copper coating and/or ENG addition are also investigated. The results reveal that the thermal conductivity of ground LaNi5 can be improved by up to similar to 6 and similar to 12 times with copper coating and ENG addition, respectively. This results in enhanced hydrogen absorption kinetics thereby significantly reduced hydrogen charging times, compared to those determined for LaNi5 without any addition. On the other hand, the amount of hydrogen stored shows a decreasing trend with increasing copper coating and ENG addition since the weight of storage material loaded to the reactor is kept the same. Nevertheless, the optimum copper and ENG contents are determined regarding the amount of stored hydrogen and the corresponding charging time. Similar H/M values are obtained with the optimized powders with additives compared to that of ground LaNi5. Madenin; devlet için önemi, işletme usulleri, idaresi, üretilen cevher çeşitleri ile yıllara göre üretim miktarları, nakil işleri, yine aynı sancak altında bulunan Bulgar Dağı Madeni ve çevre sancaklarda bulunan diğer irili ufaklı madenlerle ilişkisi ve madende çalışan işçiler gibi konular ele alınmıştır. Bereketli Madeni'nin yanı sıra gerek kıyaslama yapılması ve gerekse çeşitli vesilelere ilişki içerisinde olunan başta Bulgar Dağı Madeni olmak üzere Bozkır ve Akdağ madenleri, Bor Baruthânesi ile İstanbul Baruthânesi Ocaklığı ve Bereketli Madeni'ne bağlanan Bulgar Dağı, Yahyalı, Kozanoğlu Dağı, Post ve Gülek Boğazı madenleri hakkında gerektikçe bilgiler verilmiştir. Issues of the mine such as its importance for the state, operating procedures, management, types of ore produced and production amounts by year, transportation works, its relationship with the Bulgarian Mountain Mine located under the same flag and other large and small mines in the surrounding sanjaks, and the workers working in the mine were discussed. In addition to the Bereketli Mine, the Bozkır and Akdağ mines, especially the Bulgar Mountain Mine, with which we are in contact both for comparison and on various occasions, the Bor Gunpowder Factory and the Istanbul Gunpowder Pit, and necessary information about the Bulgar Mountain, Yahyalı, Kozanoğlu Mountain, Post and Gülek Strait, which are connected to the Bereketli Mine has been provided. Mines used in every aspect of life were very important, especially for the Imperial Mint. The ores produced, especially lead, were extremely important for the war industry, and significant amounts of ores were transferred to relevant institutions from time to time. Document review and literature scanning methods especially archival materials were used in the study, which was prepared by making use of research on the subject. The data obtained were reflected in the study in accordance with scientific methods. Bereketli Mine, which has not been studied sufficiently despite being frequently mentioned in research on Ottoman mining, has been discussed in the light of primary sources and examined scientifically.     Comparison of the earthquake awareness and metaphors of middle school students who lived the disaster of the century with students who did not experience this disaster

    Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Türkçe ve Sosyal Bilimler Ana Bilim Dalı, Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi Bilim DalıBu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin deprem farkındalıklarının ve metaforlarının asrın felaketini yaşamış olma değişkenine göre farklılığını belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2023 – 2024 Eğitim Öğretim yılının Güz yarıyılında Gaziantep ve Ankara İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü'ne bağlı toplam 6 devlet okulunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma yöntemi nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeline uygun olup, bu yöntem nitel verilerle de desteklenmiştir. Bununla ilgili olarak Kıvrak (2019) tarafından geliştirilen deprem farkındalığı ölçeği ile eksik bırakılmış metafor formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nicel verileri SPSS 21 istatistik paket programı ile analiz edilirken, nitel veriler ise içerik analizi yöntemi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın deprem farkındalığı ölçeğinden elde edilen veriler sonucunda örneklem grubunun genel olarak deprem farkındalıkları ile deprem öncesi, deprem anı ve deprem sonrası boyutlarında deprem yaşanmışlığı değişkeni açısından anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Buna karşın deprem hakkında boyutunda depremi yaşamayan öğrencilerin lehine bir farklılık söz konusudur. Metafor formundan elde edilen verilerin sonucunda ise örneklem grubunun deprem algısının en yaygın olarak canlıların ölümü üzerine yapılandırıldığı ve depremi yaşayan öğrencilerin depremin fiziksel etkisi ile ilgili metafor yapılarının depremi yaşamayanlardan daha güçlü olduğu görülmektedir. Araştırma sonucunda deprem yaşanmışlığı fark etmeksizin bütün öğrencilerin deprem farkındalığının artırılması ve öğrencilerin deprem yaşanmışlığı ile ilgili travmalarının giderilmesi için desteklenmesi yönünde öneriler sunulmuştur.The aim of this study is to determine the differences in earthquake awareness and metaphors of middle school students based on the variable of having experienced the disaster of the century. The research was conducted in the Fall semester of the 2023–2024 academic year in a total of six public schools affiliated with the Gaziantep and Ankara Provincial Directorates of National Education. The research method is a quantitative research method aligned with the survey model, and it is also supported by qualitative data. For this purpose, the earthquake awareness scale developed by Kıvrak (2019) and the incomplete metaphor form were used. The quantitative data of the study were analyzed using the SPSS 21 statistical package program, while the qualitative data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The results obtained from the earthquake awareness scale indicated no significant difference in the earthquake awareness and the pre-earthquake, during-earthquake, and post-earthquake dimensions based on the variable of having experienced an earthquake. However, in the dimension of knowledge about earthquakes, there is a significant difference in favor of students who have not experienced an earthquake. The results from the metaphor form showed that the earthquake perception of the sample group was most commonly structured around the death of living beings, and that the metaphorical constructs related to the physical effects of the earthquake were stronger among students who had experienced an earthquake compared to those who had not. As a result of the study, recommendations were made to increase earthquake awareness among all students, regardless of their earthquake experience, and to support students in overcoming traumas related to their earthquake experiences

    Determination of Resistance Levels of National Potato Cultivars and Clones Against Golden Cyst Nematode Pathotype Ro2/3 via Phenotypic and DNA Marker-Assisted Characterization

    Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of our important agricultural products, which is the main food source for people in T & uuml;rkiye, as well as all over the world. There are many diseases and pests that reduce productivity in potato plant production. Potato cyst nematodes (Tylenchida: Heteroderidae) are pests that are on the quarantine list of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization and cause serious yield losses. Since they are soil-borne pathogens and there is no effective chemical control, the most successful control method is to use resistant cultivars. The aim of the study was to determine the resistance levels of local and national potato cultivars and clones developed by the Nigde Potato Research Institute against the Globodera rostochiensis Ro2/3 pathotype using molecular marker analysis and biotesting methods. The biotest study was carried out by inoculating 7500 eggs and larvae of the Globedera rostochiensis pathotype Ro2/3 into pots. In the molecular marker analysis, resistance was investigated with TG689, 57R, Gro1-4 markers. While all cultivars and clones except Bettina were grouped as sensitive in the biotesting study, the H1 resistance gene was detected in Onaran, & Uuml;nlenen, Leventbey, Muratbey, Nahita, Agria, Madeleine, Desiree and Bettina cultivars by molecular marker analysis. H1 and Gro1-4 resistance genes were detected in the PAE 13-08-07, PAE 13-08-08 and PAE 13-08-14 clones used in the experiment. The results showed that clones developed by the Potato Research Institute exhibited highly resistant marker alleles for the Ro2/3 pathotype of G. rostochiensis.     Innovative approach of biodegradable mulches in sustainable agriculture for crop production and environmental conservation

However, a number of obstacles, including concerns about performance and cost, have inhibited their implementation. In this study, we set out to determine the impact of biodegradable film mulches on plant production, crop yield, sustainability, nutrient supply, environment, cost-effectiveness, pros and cons with innovative approach. The material and method used in this study include the application of a literature review on biodegradable mulch (BDM) film. According to our findings, the biodegradable film mulch greatly outperformed the plastic mulch in terms of soil health, water use, nutrient availability, and microbial activity. These results imply that biodegradable film mulch has the potential to decrease plastic waste in agriculture while increasing soil health and crop output. In conclusion, using biodegradable film mulch with using innovative approach in agriculture might be an effective means to alleviate the environmental problems brought on by conventional plastic mulches. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences

    Effectiveness of a home exercise program when added to a conventional physiotherapy program in patients with temporomandibular disorders: A comparative study

    Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a home exercise program on pain and quality of life (QoL) in TMD. Methods: Twenty patients were included in the study. The Group A received both a home exercise program and a physiotherapy program, while only a physiotherapy program was given to the Group B. Pain was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and QoL using the Short-Form 36 (SF-36). Results: Pain decreased in both groups (p < 0.05). Among the SF-36 domains, bodily pain, vitality and social functioning scores improved in the Group A, while only the bodily pain parameter improved in the Group B (p < 0.05). On between-group comparison, the positive effect on pain and quality of life was greater in the Group A (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The addition of a home exercise program to the conventional physiotherapy program provided greater improvement in pain and QoL in patients with TMD

Tanımlayıcı istatistik sonuçlarına göre araştırma kapsamında en çok izlenilir olduğu 2022 yılı verilerine göre tespit edilen hiçbir kanal "Bilgilendirici, Eğitici-Öğretici, Renkli-Canlı ve Ailecek İzlenir" özelliğinde algılanmamaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında ki kanallardan 1'i "Gerçek Gündemi Yansıtan, Şeffaf, Tarafsız, Programları Kaliteli, Kendi Kültürünü Yansıtan", 2 kanal "Eğlenceli ve Güvenilir" 4 kanal da "Modern" özelliğinde algılanmaktadır. TV kanallarının aralarında ki rekabette bu karşılaştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, izleyici pazarını göz önünde bulundurmaları ve marka konumlandırmalarını bu özelliklere göre geliştirmeleri önerilmektedir. .This study aims to analyze the brand positions of the most-watched television channels as of 2022, which hold a significant place in the media platform, by comparing perception maps based on how they are perceived in terms of specific characteristics. According to the descriptive statistical results, none of the channels identified as the most-watched in 2022 were perceived as "Informative, Educational-Instructive, Colorful-Lively, and Family-Friendly." Among the channels included in the study, one channel is perceived as "Reflecting Real Agenda, Transparent, Unbiased, High-Quality Programs, Reflecting Its Own Culture," two channels as "Entertaining and Reliable," and four channels as "Modern." The comparison of brand positioning of these channels in relation to these characteristics was determined on a four-segment structure on a spatial map obtained from the analyses based on perception maps in dual dimensions as "Informative and Educational-Instructive," "Colorful-Lively and Transparent," "Unbiased and High-Quality Programs," "Reflecting Its Own Culture and Modern," "Reflecting Real Agenda and Family-Friendly," and "Entertaining and Reliable." In the competition among TV channels, it is recommended that they consider the viewer market based on the results obtained from this comparison and develop their brand positions according to these characteristics
