    Mechanical response of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite parts joined with varying bonding techniques for aerospace applications

    As a result of the widespread use of composite materials in primary structures of aerospace platforms, composite joining became more crucial. This study addresses the effect of joining methods on the strength of composite joints experimentally, numerically and analytically. Single lap joint shear strengths of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite parts joined by mechanical fastening with a pop and solid rivet, secondary bonding with a paste adhesive, co-curing and co-bonding techniques were compared. In addition, the effect of adhesive thicknesses (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.76 mm) on the single lap shear strength was investigated. Carbon fiber reinforced composite (CFRP) samples were produced according to the ASTM 5868 standard. After the production of samples with varying joining methods, single lap shear tests were implemented. Moreover, the interface damage in the composites was examined by use of a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for the purpose of studying the damage mechanism. Fracture mechanisms corresponding with bonding methods were also assessed by examining the fracture surface of the composite samples. Furthermore, results were analyzed by Hypermesh, ABAQUS and ESAComp. For instance, the co-bonded sample with an adhesive film exhibits an experimental shear strength of 24.03 MPa which deviates only 3 % from the numerical expectation.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey [20AG020]; The 2209-A programs; [20AG001]Authors thank N.     The concept of bibliometric analysis, in addition to seeing the developments in any scientific field over a certain period of time, also provides information about where the scientific field in question will evolve in the future by offering a different perspective to understand the evolution of the field related to the concept. Bibliometric analysis method, which is used as an element or content in socio-economic fields such as communication, public relations, advertising, marketing, health, business, economy, finance and banking, technology, education, politics, etc., is the subject of many academic researches and numerous studies in the literature. The concept of bibliometric analysis is intricate and complex, and performing a bibliometric analysis of bibliometric analysis research will be able to provide a panoramic perspective to researchers and organizations in different disciplines. The research aims to evaluate the status of the concept of bibliometric analysis in the international literature within the framework of descriptive analysis with the document review method. For this purpose, after searching the Web of Science database and the necessary limitation procedures, a total of 18.432 published scientific studies published between 1980 and 2023 that include the concept of bibliometric analysis in all research, titles or keywords or have bibliometric analysis content were accessed. A total of 18.432 scientific studies accessed constitute the sample of the study. A total of 18.432 scientific studies with bibliometric analysis content were analyzed with the VOS viewer program to determine the scientific categories and interest orientation in which the interest in bibliometric analysis is concentrated, and the prominent country, organization, author and keyword concept units were reached with the publication-citation mapping technique. As a result of the research, besides the fact that the studies on bibliometric analysis are generally co-authored and that there is a high level of collaborative index in the fields of study, no common concept association related to bibliometric analysis or any common word concept or keyword association related to the expression bibliometric analysis was found

    Yaratıcı Drama Eğitim Programının Çocukların Sosyal Davranış ve Sosyal Problem Çözme Becerilerine Etkisi

    Bu çalışmada, Yaratıcı Drama Eğitim Programı’nın (YDEP) çocukların sosyal davranış ve kişilerarası sorun çözme becerilerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Mevcut çalışma ön test-son test ve kontrol gruplu deneysel desende gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada deney grubunda 20, kontrol grubunda 20 olmak üzere toplam 40 çocuk yer almıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında; Anaokulu ve Ana SınıfıDavranış Ölçeği (PKBS_2) ve Wally Sosyal Problem Çözme Testi (WSPÇ) kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın veri analizinde; Mann WhitneyU Testi, Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi, Spearman KorelasyonAnalizi kullanılmış, eta kare (?2) değeri hesaplanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, YDEP’ in uygulandığı çocukların sosyal beceri ve sosyal sorun çözme becerileri toplam puan artışında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde etki olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırmanın sonuçlarından hareketle bazı öneriler geliştirilmiştir

    Protective properties of spectacle lenses used as ultraviolet blockers

    In this study, we evaluated the UV transmittance of spectacle lenses in the Turkish market, which are reported to have UV blocking properties, and tested their suitability. Samples were obtained from patients who were admitted to the ophthalmology outpatient clinic of our hospital for refractive error and who wore glasses as UV block. No limitation was made regarding the spectacle size and duration of spectacle wear. Measurements were tested by the principal investigator using an ultraviolet detector. The right and left lens were measured separately. All measurements were performed at room temperature (22-25°C) in a humidity regulated (20-40%) room without direct light. UV protection level was measured for 120 spectacles used for refractive errors. Only 28 (23.3%) of 120 glasses had protection level up to 400 nm UV. Twenty-four (20%) of the glasses had a protection level of 0 even though they were labeled as having UV blocking properties. It is clear that strict regulations need to be implemented to improve the protection levels of glasses

    Effect of foliar applications of seaweed extract at different growth stages on tuber yield and mineral content of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

    Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Bitkisel Üretim ve Teknolojileri Ana Bilim DalıÇalışmamızda, farklı dönemlerde ve farklı dozlarda deniz yosunu özütü uygulamasının (DYÖ) patateste bitki gelişimi ile yumru verimi ve yumru mineral madde içeriği üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Tez konusu ile ilgili tarla çalışmaları 2021 yılında Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi, Ayhan Şahenk Tarım Bilimleri ve Teknoloji Fakültesi Araştırma ve Uygulama arazisinde yürütülmüştür. Denemede, uygulama dönemleri (yaprak gelişim dönemi, yumru oluşum başlangıcı, yumru büyütme dönemi) ana parsellere ve deniz yosunu dozu uygulamaları (DYÖ0: 0 g/da, DYÖ300: 300 g/da, DYÖ600: 600 g/da, DYÖ900: 900 g/da) alt parsellere gelecek şekilde bölünmüş parseller deneme desenine göre üç tekrarlamalı olarak kurulup, yürütülmüştür. Çalışma sonucunda olgunlaşma süresi, klorofil içeriği, bitki boyu, toplam yumru verimi, yumru özgül ağırlığı, kuru madde oranı, cips kalitesi üzerine deniz yosunu uygulamalarının etkisi istatistiki açıdan önemli bulunmuştur. Deniz yosunu dozunun artışına bağlı olarak yumru verimi de artmış ve en yüksek yumru verimi 5282.2 kg/da ile 600 g/da uygulamasından elde edilmiştir. Çalışmamızda uygulama dozlarının artışına paralel olarak Mg ve S içeriğinde artış olurken; deniz yosunu dozu arttıkça Ca, Zn, Fe, B, Cu ve Mn içeriklerinde azalma gerçekleşmiştir.In our study, it was aimed to determine the effects of seaweed extract application in different periods and at different doses on plant growth, tuber yield and tuber mineral content in the Agria potato variety in the Niğde region, where potato cultivation is intensive. Field studies related to the thesis topic were carried out in 2021 in the Research and Application field of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Ayhan Şahenk Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. In the experiment, the Agria potato variety selected as material and seaweed extract (SWE), which is the main subject of the study, were used. In the experiment, application periods (leaf development period, tuber formation beginning, tuber growth period) were applied to the main plots and seaweed dose applications (SWE0: 0 g/da, SWE300: 300 g/da, SWE600: 600 g/da, SWE900: 900 g/da) were applied in the sub-plots and carried out in three replications according to the experimental design. As a result of the study, effects of seaweed applications were found to be statistically significant on maturation time, chlorophyll content, plant height, total tuber yield, tuber specific gravity, dry matter ratio, french fries ratio, and chips quality value. In our study, tuber yield increased depending on the increase in seaweed doses and the highest tuber yield was obtained from 5282.2 kg/da and 600 g/da seaweed extract application. Mg and S content of tuber increased depending on the increased seaweed doses, but Ca, Zn, Fe, B, Cu and Mn content decreased

    How to improve academic achievement of students? The influence of academic emphasis on academic achievement with the mediating roles of school belonging, student engagement, and academic resilience

    The purpose of this research was to examine the influence of academic emphasis on academic achievement, with the mediating roles of school belonging, student engagement, and academic resilience. The research adopted a cross-sectional model, with a sample of 452 participants selected through a two-stage stratified sampling procedure from public primary, middle, and high schools, including students (n = 400) and school principals (n = 52). The research adopted Academic Emphasis Scale, School Belonging Scale, Student Engagement Scale, and Academic Resilience Scale as data collection tools. Also, for determining academic achievement, students' grade point average scores in reading, mathematics, and science were used. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothetical model created based on the research variables, by using Mplus 8.3. The results of the research indicated that there were positive associations between variables. The research also showed that the measurement model provided a good fit to the data, with displaying statistically significant paths. The research suggested that academic emphasis has a positive influence on academic achievement, with school belonging, student engagement, and academic resilience playing mediating roles. School academic emphasis, school belonging, student engagement, and academic resilience together play an important role in improving students' academic achievement. School academic emphasis emerged as a significant contributor of students' academic achievement. School belonging, student engagement, and academic resilience acted as mediating variables in the interplay between academic emphasis and academic achievement

    Encapsulation of SE-P47 phage specific to Salmonella Enteritidis and evaluation of its stability

    This study was conducted to encapsulate the bacteriophage SE-P47 target to Salmonella Enteritidis by extrusion method and to examine its stability. Screening and optimization of effective factors in the encapsulation process were performed using fractional factorial design and face-centered central composite design, respectively. The optimum Na-alginate concentration and the ratio of coating material to phage for the encapsulation of SE-P47 phage were 1.5% (v/v) and 2:1, respectively. At the optimum encapsulation point, the highest encapsulation efficiency (98.52%), smallest capsule size (1.28 mm), and highest phage titer were achieved. When exposed to heat treatment at 80 degrees C for 30 min, pH 2 and simulated gastric fluid (pH 2.0) for 120 min, the encapsulated phage maintained almost its stability, but the free (non-encapsulated) phage almost lost its activity. Phage release from beads in simulated intestinal fluid reached 100% in 4 h. In addition, free and encapsulated phage completely maintained their activity for 12 months at 4 and 25 degrees C. The Salmonella phage encapsulated in this study exhibits high stability in harsh conditions. Thus, this encapsulated phage has the potential to be used as a biocontrol agent or therapeutic purposes in the food chain.NIGDE OMER HALISDEMIR UNIVERSITYNo Statement Availabl
