Al-13.6Cu-6Si alaşımının elektriksel ve ısıl özelliklerinin incelenmesi
Doğrusal olarak katılaştırılan Al-13.6Cu-6Si alaşımının elektriksel özelliklerinin hem katılaştırma hızına hem de sıcaklığa bağlı olarak nasıl değişim gösterdiği ve buna ek olarak yine aynı alaşımın termal özelliklerinin sıcaklığa göre nasıl bir davranış sergilediği araştırılmıştır. Bu çalışma kapsamında öncelikle alaşımın elektriksel özdirenç (?) ölçümleri dört nokta prob yöntemi ile yapılmış ve özdirencin sıcaklık katsayısı (?) hesaplanmıştır. Wiedemann?Franz ve Smith-Palmer denklemleri kullanılarak elde edilen deneysel bulgularla ısıl iletkenlik (K)-sıcaklık (T) arasındaki ilişki belirlenmiştir. 320–953 K sıcaklık aralığında DSC analizi yapılarak çizilen ısı akışı-sıcaklık eğrisinden entalpi (?H) ve özısı (cp) değerlerine ek olarak alaşımın erime sıcaklığı da (TE) belirlenmiştir
TELEREHABILITATION FOR ADOLESCENTS WITH IDIOPATHIC SCOLIOSIS: PAIN, QUALITY OF LIFE, AND DISABILITY DURING COVID-19
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of 3D scoliosis exercise training delivered via telerehabilitation on pain, function, and disability in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis during the COVID-19 lockdown. Method: This study was conducted between April 2020 and October 2020 during the pandemic period. The effects of face-to-face exercises before the pandemic and continued exercises via telerehabilitation during the pandemic on overall health, mental well-being, pain, and physical condition were evaluated. Forty-four participants with scoliosis (27 females, 17 males) participated in a 12-week 3D scoliosis exercise program led by an experienced physiotherapist. Assessments were conducted online using SRS-22, SF-36, and ODI scales before and after social isolation. Results: The mean age of the sample was determined to be 14.77±2.38 years. The mean SRS-22 Pain scores before and after the lockdown were 22.11±2.45 and 22.18±2.54, respectively. However, no significant differences were found between the two assessments in terms of SRS-22, SF-36, and ODI scores. Conclusion: Telerehabilitation-based 3D scoliosis exercises may help maintain pain, function, and disability levels in adolescents with scoliosis during lockdowns. Regular home exercise programs are recommended when face-to-face therapy is unavailable. Future research should explore simulation-based training to enhance effectiveness
Chronotype is associated with Mediterranean dietary adherence and environmental footprints
This cross-sectional study was carried out to determine the relationship between nutrition according to chronotype and the Mediterranean diet and environmental footprints. Morningness Eveningness Questionnaire was used to determine the chronotype classification, and Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener was used to evaluate adherence to the Mediterranean diet. In addition, the food consumption record of the participants was taken and the carbon and water footprints were calculated. A total of 472 adults with a mean age of 22.7 +/- 5.0 years participated in the study. Accordingly, 61.0% of the participants were morning type, 15.7% were intermediate type, and 23.3% were evening type. Individuals with higher chronotype values (morning) tended to be more adherent to the Mediterranean diet and had lower environmental (carbon and water) footprints (p < 0.05). The results of this study; showed that diet according to chronotype affects adherence to the Mediterranean diet and environmental footprints
Risk of Postpartum Sexual Dysfunction: A Link to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms and Depression Symptoms
The aim of this study is to determine the association of the risk of postpartum sexual dysfunction (SD) with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression symptoms. This cross-sectional study was conducted by collecting data from eight different family health centers (n = 147). Data were collected with 'Descriptive Information Form', 'City Birth Trauma Scale (CityBiTS)', 'Edinburg Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS)' and 'Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI)'. Data were evaluated with Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, Student's t-test, Spearman's correlation and logistic regression analysis. The risk of SD in women between 6 and 12 months postpartum was 53.1%, and the risk of depression was 19%. Based on self-report data, 16.3% of women met all Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) criteria for PTSD in relation to birth-specific events. There was a negative correlation between the FSFI and the CityBiTS (r=-0.208) and EPDS total scores (r=-0.335). It was found that CityBiTS scores were not a significant factor affecting the risk of SD (p > 0.05), but an increase in EDPS scores increased the likelihood of SD (OR:1.22, p < 0.05). Half of the women are at risk of SD in the first postpartum year. As postpartum depression and PTSD symptoms increase, sexual function decreases.We would like to thank all women for participating in conducting this study
Investigation of TLR2 (-196 to -174del) and TLR9 (T-1486C) Gene Polymorphisms Association with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Background: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn’s disease (CD), and ulcerative colitis (UC) are diseases that result from the combined effects of a predisposing genetic background and several environmental factors, including smoking. Some genes can influence these diseases through genetic inheritance, and their regulation is explained by gene polymorphism. However, Toll-like receptor (TLR) genes have been identified as susceptibility genes for CD and UC. Methods: A case-control study was performed on a Turkish population composed of 105 healthy controls and 79 CD, 77 UC patients genotyped by Allele-specific PCR and PCR–RFLP for TLR9 (T-1486C) and TLR 2 (-196 to -174del) gene. Genotype and allele frequencies of TLR9 (T-1486C) and TLR 2 (-196 to -174del) gene polymorphisms compared to allele frequencies in CD and UC patients. Results: No statistically significant findings were found between the CD, UC patients, and the control group in terms of both genotype distributions and allele frequencies for TLR 9 (T-1486C; rs187084) and TLR 2 (-196 to -174del; rs111200466) gene polymorphisms in a Turkish population (P?> 0.05). Determining the impact of pre-pressing pretreatments applied to sugarcane on the aroma compounds and quality characteristics of sugarcane juice
The study examined the effects of three pretreatments, blanching (5, 10, and 30 min), ultrasound (15, 20, and 30 min), and steam blanching (10, 20, and 30 min) on sugarcane, assessing their impact on sugarcane juice quality parameters and aroma compounds. The control had the highest soluble solid content, while the ultrasound-15 min (US-15 min)-treated sample had the lowest, affecting pH, total acidity, and color values significantly. Color analysis showed lower L* values and less greenish tones in treated samples. The implemented pretreatments effectively reduce the browning index, with the US-20 min treatment showing the most significant reduction compared to the control sample. All pretreatments deactivated polyphenol oxidase. Carbon isotope analysis yielded significant results. Principal component analysis and hierarchical clustering linked 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) with 2,2 '-azino-bis 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF) with total phenolic content. The study also highlights significant variations in aroma compound profiles among pretreated sugarcane juice samples, with blanching for 10 min showing notable increases in specific compounds like 2-heptanone and nonanol. Hierarchical clustering showed similarities between blanching-30 min and US-30 min, contrasting with the control. Blanching-10 min had a positive impact on sugarcane juice quality. Impedance characterization of hydrothermally synthesized nickel zinc ferrite nanoparticles for electronic application
This study comprehensively investigates the structural, morphological, dielectric, and conductivity properties of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticles synthesized through a hydrothermal method, focusing on their suitability for technological applications. The nanoparticles exhibited a cubic structure with an average grain size of approximately 19 nm. The dielectric properties were analyzed with respect to frequency and temperature, showcasing behaviors consistent with Maxwell-Wagner and Koop's theories. The dielectric plane plots, corresponding to the impedance circuit in the Smith Chart, were found to align with the Davidson-Cole relaxation model. Moreover, the conductivity properties adhered to the Jonscher Power law, resembling conductive properties akin to semiconductors in accordance with the band theory. Notably, the s parameter, indicative of the DC conduction mechanism, displayed temperature-dependent variations, suggesting compatibility with the small polar and correlated hopping barrier conduction models. The thermal activation energies of the Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticles at 102, 103, 104, 105, and 106 rad/s frequencies have been recorded at 0.115, 0.141, 0.157, 0.133 and 0.121 eV, respectively. Can immature granulocytes and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio be biomarkers to evaluate diabetic nephropathy?: A cross-sectional study
Aims: We aimed to examine the role of circulating immature granulocytes (IGs) in assessing Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) mainly and also associations of other leukocyte parameters with DN. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, a total of 164 Diabetes Mellitus patients were grouped as normoalbuminuric and microalbuminuric according to urinary albumin excretion in the course of admission. Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), IG count (IG#) and IG percentage (IG%) levels were compared between the groups. The value of IG# and IG% levels in detecting microalbuminuria was analyzed with the Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: NLR was remarkably higher in the microalbuminuric group (p = 0.036). Correlation results in the microalbuminuric group were as follows: A feeble positive correlation between neutrophil count (NEU#) and serum creatinine and albumin-to- creatinine ratio (ACR) (p = 0.036, r = 0.261; p = 0.005, r = 0.347, respectively), a feeble positive correlation between lymphocyte count (LYM#) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (p = 0.021, r = 0.285). Correlation results in the normooalbuminuric group were as follows: A feeble positive correlation between NEU# and ACR (p = 0.043, r = 0.204), a feeble negative correlation between LYM# and serum creatinine (p = 0.042, r = -0.205), a poor positive correlation between IG# and ACR and HBA1C% (p = 0.048, r = 0.199; p = 0.004, r = 0.290, respectively), a positive poor correlation between IG% and HBA1C% (p = 0.019, r = 0.235). Area under the ROC curve values for IG# and IG% were not statistically noteworthy in detecting microalbuminuria (p = 0.430; p = 0.510, respectively). Conclusions: IG# and IG% values are insufficient to predict immediate microalbuminuria, but could be considered a weak biomarker for renal damage in normoalbuminuric (<30 mg/g) diabetic patients. Using GIS-supported MCDA method for appropriate site selection of parking lots: The case study of the city of Tetovo, North Macedonia
The provision of adequate parking spaces for vehicles has emerged as a prominent and challenging issue confronted by towns, cities, and municipal authorities in recent years. Addressing this problem necessitates a thorough examination of the prevailing physical conditions in existing parking areas, while simultaneously undertaking analyses to identify suitable locations for new parking areas or parking lots. This study focuses on the city of Tetovo, North Macedonia, investigating and assessing the available parking areas while analyzing potential sites in accordance with the city's needs and requirements. To facilitate decision-making, a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) approach is employed to address the parking site selection analysis problem. The weightage of criteria utilized in the analysis is estimated, and potential parking solutions or site selections for new parking areas are identified through the combined application of Geographical Information System (GIS) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) techniques, identifying primary and sub-criteria, with a focus on Land Use and Transportation as the main criteria for selecting parking lots. The integration of GIS and AHP offers an effective and optimal methodology for site selection and identifying suitable parking locations. AHP method, applied to criteria, determined relative weights through expert opinions, while GIS facilitated spatial analysis for identifying suitable parking locations. The study identifies accessibility to main roads as the criterion carrying the greatest weight (0.517), while accessibility to cultural facilities holds the lowest weight (0.117). The study serves as a pivotal resource for sustainable urban management and decision-making, providing insights into future urban planning and the identification of suitable parking lot sites to foster sustainable development within the city
