Are starters accumulating significantly higher load than non-starters? Load, Wellness, and Training/Match Ratios Quantification of a European Professional Soccer Team
The study aimed to (i) compare accumulated load and wellness between starters and non-starters of a European professional soccer team; (ii) analyse the relationships between wellness and load measures, and; (iii) compare training/match ratio (TMr) of external and internal load between starters and non-starters. Ten players were considered starters, while seven were classified as non-starters over a 16-week period in which six training sessions and match day (MD) were considered in each weekly micro-cycle. The following measures were used: wellness (fatigue, quality of sleep, muscle soreness, stress, and mood); load (rated of perceived exertion (RPE), session-RPE (s-RPE), high-speed running (HSR), sprinting, accelerations (ACC) and decelerations (DEC)). Accumulated wellness/load were calculated by summing all training and match sessions, while TMr was calculated by dividing the accumulated load by match data for all load measures. The main results showed that non-starters presented higher significant values for fatigue (p < 0.019; g = 0.24) and lower significant values for duration (p < 0.006; ES = 1.81) and s-RPE (p < 0.001; ES = 2.69) when compared to starters. Moreover, positive and very large correlations were found between quality of sleep and RPE, stress and deceleration, mood and deceleration (all, p < 0.05). Finally, non-starters presented higher values in all TMr than starters, namely, RPE (p = 0.001; g = 1.96), s-RPE (p = 0.002; g = 1.77), HSR (p = 0.001; g = 2.02), sprinting (p = 0.002; g = 4.23), accelerations (p = 0.001; g = 2.72), decelerations (p < 0.001; g = 3.44), and duration (p = 0.003; g = 2.27). In conclusion, this study showed that non-starters produced higher TMr in all examined variables despite the lower match and training durations when compared with starters, suggesting that physical load was adjusted appropriately. Additionally, RPE and a higher number of decelerations may contribute to decreased wellness, namely, quality of sleep, stress and mood for non-starters
Fertility Preservation :A Big Dilemma For Patients With Breast Cancer
Introduction : Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women. Cytotoxic chemotherapy or drugs exert a negative effect on fertility potential. Techniques,such as ovarian suppression, oocyte and embryo freezing, InVitro Maturation, and ovarian tissue freezing, are necessary to preserve fertility.
Methods: To conduct this study, a query was conducted on Persian and English sources databases as Scoupus, Google Scholar, Pub Med, and Science Direct during the last 24 years using the following keywords: breast cancer, infertility, fertility preservation, oocyte freezing, and embryo freezing.
Results: Based on the result15% to 25% of patients are young premenopausal women. Chemotherapy or radiation therapy can lead to infertility or early menopause. As suggested by evidence, the success rate of embryo freezing is much higher than oocyte freezing and In Vitro Maturation. Among the fertility preservation methods, ovarian tissue freezing and 3D bioprinting are in the laboratory research stage and have received much attention. Correct counseling and providing accurate information to patients and their timely referral have have a marked impact on improving their mental and physical condition and treating their underlying disease.
Conclusion: As evidence by the result of this study, early diagnosis of breast cancer and timely referral to a fertility specialist enable , breast cancer patients to maintain their fertility and experience their biological child after aggressive cancer treatments
Equipping Stroke Nurses to Take on Extended Roles Within Acute Stroke Care Through an Advanced Practice Fellowship: An Evaluation Study
Background
Stroke nurses are adopting extended roles to improve patient care due to limited numbers of vascular neurologists, however, little is known of this experience. We evaluated the impact of an internationally implemented fellowship education program to equip experienced stroke nurses, nationally and internationally, to undertake extended acute stroke roles.
Methods
We conducted semi-structured interviews with the following groups of individuals associated with the NET SMART Advanced Practice fellowship program: 1) Stroke nurse program
graduates; 2) currently enrolled stroke nurse fellows; 3) local physician mentors; 4) service managers of program graduates. Interviews took place between February-August 2018 and were analysed using the Theoretical Domains Framework.
Results
Interviews were held with stroke nurses (n=11), mentors (n=4) and a service manager (n=1). Four themes were identified: 1) ‘The learning journey’- describing motivations for
undertaking the training and course content; 2) ‘Organizational and professional change’- experiencing professional resistance to the new role, or lack of a suitable role to move into after program completion; 3) ‘What hindered the learning journey?’- small hospitals with low patient volume makes completion challenging; 4) ‘What helped the learning journey?’- a supportive team facilitated completion.
Conclusion
We found overwhelming skill development and professional growth by nurses, and this was echoed by mentors and managers. However, despite expanding their stroke-specific
knowledge and skills, non-U.S.A. nurses faced systemic challenges in implementing their skills including lack of acceptance of extended nurse roles from wider professions
Match running performance is influenced by possession and team formation in an English Premier League team
The aim of this study was to examine the possession (very low, low, high, and very high), team formation (3-5-2 and 4-3-3) and position (centre-backs, full-backs, centre midfielders, attacking midfielders, and centre forwards) on match load across two consecutive seasons in elite soccer. Twenty-seven English Premier League outfield players were recruited. Data was monitored through an 18 Hz Global Positioning System and a 25 Hz semi-automated camera tracking system, respectively, and all variables were analysed per minute. Main effects for formation on total distance (TD) (p = 0.006; η2 = 0.010), high-speed running (HSR) (p = 0.009; η2 = 0.009), number of high metabolic load (HML) efforts (p = 0.004; η2 = 0.011) were observed. In addition, there were significant interaction effects with formation×possession on TD (p < 0.001; η2 = 0.043), HSR (p = 0.006; η2 = 0.018), sprinting (p < 0.001; η2 = 0.030), HML efforts (p < 0.001; η2 = 0.035), accelerations (p < 0.001; η2 = 0.025). From the position specific analysis, only the running performance of centre-backs was affected by formation or positional factors. These results indicate that formation and possession can have a significant impact on TD, HSR, and HML distance. Furthermore, players performed more high intensity efforts in 3-5-2 than 4-3-3 formation. These findings suggest that coaches can evaluate running performance in the context of formation and possession and tailor tactical strategies to optimise physical performance
Exclusive experience: Examining the VIP experience at UK music events
A mainstay of the modern event industry for decades, the concept of the VIP experience is ubiquitous, yet it lacks a clear conceptual and commercial definition. This research seeks to address this by exploring the experience of two event managers well versed in designing and delivering VIP experiences at music events. The exploratory nature of this research offers a literature of associated issues to bridge the current gaps in event studies scholarship regarding VIP experiences. The research also contains empirical primary qualitative data from two semi-structured interviews, which is subject to thematic analysis and then synthesised with Grebenar’s Event Experience Mapping Model (EEMM). This application of Grebenar’s model attempts to quantify the VIP experience, and the results demonstrate a number of available experiences. These are based, in line with the EEMM, on four key elements of experience, but the research also offers an original conception of the VIP guest by noting four consumer types: A-Listers, Friends and Family, Repeat Clients, and Once-in-a-Lifetimers. Experience maps are provided for these four consumer types, and these, along with the associated discussion, are intended as a means for event professionals and academics to better understand the expectations, experience, and profile of VIP guests

In our original article we evaluated diagenetic changes to rat cortical bone osteocyte lacunae over increasing post-mortem intervals. We suggested that with further, more intensive research, it may be possible to exploit these changes for the purposes of post-mortem interval estimation of skeletal remains. In their comment to our paper, Miszkiewicz et al. (in press) raise concerns about the project design and interpretation of the results. Here, we reply to their comments and offer answers to their concerns
Older People in Prison
Older people in prison make up a significant and growing minority in many prison systems around the world and these numbers are projected to increase in the future. There is a substantial body of published research literature highlighting issues in prison healthcare, environments, regimes and programmes in relation to older people, including experiential accounts. That said, there are significant gaps in the literature. One of these gaps relates to law, rules and regulations. This chapter outlines the main themes which have emerged from the research and applies Nussbaum’s capabilities approach to social justice in order to consider whether older people in prison are protected adequately by existing international human rights instruments, concluding with recommendations as to future research, policy and practice
A network analysis of early trauma and impulsive behavior in individuals with mono- and poly-dependence of alcohol and crack cocaine
Objective: To investigate the relationship between impulsivity and early trauma through a network analysis in individuals diagnosed with different substance use disorders (SUD). Methods: This cross-sectional study includes a sample of 556 men with SUD (195 with alcohol use, 157 with crack cocaine use and 214 with multiple substance use). The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire was applied to investigate early trauma and the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale to assess impulsive behavior. The connection between trauma and impulsivity was assessed using network analysis through Fused Graphical Lasso algorithm. Results: No connection was observed between impulsivity and trauma networks in individuals with alcohol use. In cocaine users, networks were linked through the motor domain and sexual abuse nodes. Inversely connections were observed between emotional neglect node and perseverance and not planning nodes. In poly-use, the connection between impulsivity and trauma networks was weak, with cognitive complexity being the node that connects to the trauma network through physical abuse. There were inversely proportional connections between motor domain and emotional neglect nodes, and cognitive instability and physical neglect. Conclusions: Our results suggest that the relationship between the type of early (childhood) trauma and the expression of impulsivity could lead to a different substance use profile
Human-in-the-Loop Telemanipulation Modes for Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems
In all future scenarios of fully autonomous ground or air vehicle networks, human intervention is expected to take place in the form of remote immediate involvement/assistance. The use of telemanipulation with various ``human-in-the-loop (HITL)'' schemes is anticipated to instil the necessary degree of trust in autonomous vehicles (AVs) while operating in a highly volatile environment with other vehicles and a multitude of obstacles. According to numerous research papers, autonomous uninhabited aerial vehicles (A-UAVs) will reach higher penetration levels in mixed air traffic in the coming years. However, there hasn't been enough research in the literature on efficient A-UAV management in real-world use cases with a lot of uncertainty. This paper attempts to bridge this gap by examining the telemanipulation schemes between two smart agents: human telemanipulators (HTMs) and A-UAVs. HITL telemanipulation described in this report can i) play a key role in enabling A-UAVs to instantly handle a multitude of uncertainties and ii) expedite the integration of A-UAVs into mixed air traffic
Investigating students’ immersion, motivation and cultural heritage learning in gamified and non-gamified virtual reality environments
This study investigated the effect of gamification on university students’ immersion, motivation, and cultural heritage learning in the context of a Virtual Reality (VR) learning
environment. An experimental research design was adopted to analyze the experience of fortysix (n=46) undergraduate students who were randomly assigned to two conditions (Gamified / Non-gamified VR environment). Data were collected using pre- and post-learning assessments, immersion and motivation questionnaires. Analyses showed that students in the gamified VR learning environment experienced higher levels of attention and flow, reported greater perceived competence, and exhibited increased learning gains, in comparison to their counterparts who used the non-gamified VR environment. Moreover, higher and more positive correlations were identified between students’ immersion, motivation and learning in the gamified condition. The findings of this study can contribute to the principled design of VR environments to optimize students’ knowledge acquisition and learning experience
