Exploration of the principles of "good lesson" in mathematics classrooms: Through narrative transformation of long term internship students
No full text数学科の授業においては、「わかる」「わからない」、「できる」「できない」が教室の中で、子どもたちのリアリティとしてたち現われ、子どもたちの学ぶ意欲を支配している。そのため、教師は「わかる」＝「よい授業」を強く意識して子どもたちに向き合うことになる。長期インターンシップ学生の「ナラティブ」には、熟練教師と時間・空間を共にする中で「ゆらぎ」が生成してくることが読み取れる。「ゆらぎ」の中で、学生自身の体験された「数学観」や「授業観」に新たな問いを内省的に深めていく。このゆらぐ学生の心的態度を「数学教師の二重性」と呼ぶことにする。この二重性の自覚と内省の契機にベテラン教師からの直接的な指導からだけでなく、教師と共に「ある」ことによる気づきから可能性としての「よい授業」の意味が感受され学生に影響を与えることを読み取り、そのナラティブが変容していくプロセスの解明を試みる。departmental bulletin pape

The Identity Perception among Young Japanese Brazilians Living in Japan : A Case Study about Learners of Portuguese as Heritage Language
No full textThe study analyzes the profile of four young Japanese Brazilian students enrolled in a volunteer initiative for teaching Portuguese as heritage language in Sakai, Osaka prefecture. The children of Brazilian dekasegi, who came to Japan during the 1990s to work in the industrial sector, were born and raised in Japan and live in an area with low concentration of Brazilian citizens. By presenting and interpreting their identity narratives, the investigation aims to understand how identification process and perception take place within these individuals, whose usage rate and proficiency in Portuguese language are variable. The results suggest that factors such as parents' level of acculturation and the relationship with siblings and other family members have an important impact on children's sense of belonging. Research findings also indicate that this second generation of immigrants places a higher value on schooling and education, frequently included in their plans for the future, and reveals an internationalist inclination characteristic of a culturally hybrid profile.日本在住日系ブラジル人青年のアイデンティティ認識 : 継承語としてのポルトガル語学習者のケース・スタディ 【日本語要旨】本研究は，大阪府堺市においてボランティアで行われている継承語としてのポルトガル語教室に通っている，4人の日系ブラジル人青年を対象としたケース・スタディである。対象者達は，1990年代に製造業で働くために来日した日系ブラジル人の「デカセギ」労働者の子どもである。彼らは，日本で生まれ育ち，日系ブラジル人の非集住地域に住んでいる。本研究は，彼らのアイデンティティについての語りを提示し，解釈することを通して，ポルトガル語の接触度や流暢さがさまざまな彼らが，どのようにアイデンティティを形成し，認識していくのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。本研究からは，きょうだいなどの家族との関係に加え，両親の日本社会での文化変容のレベルが，子どもの所属意識に強い影響を与えていることが明らかになった。また，対象とした移民第二世代は，学校や教育を重要視し，しばしば将来計画に含めていることや，文化的にブラジル的なものと日本的なものを混淆させた側面をもち，外国語学習や海外移住を志向するなど国際的な傾向があることが明らかになった。departmental bulletin pape
The vitalization in city center and the regulation of large-scale retail stores in the City of Nara
No full textThis paper aims to explain the changes of distribution of large-scale retail stores and small retail establishments by zone, and assess the vitalization in city center and the reg-ulation of city planning in the City of Nara. Large-retail stores have increased in the residential districts, and decreased commercial districts and the city center. In commercial districts and the city center, the number of small retail outlets have less decreased than that in the overall City of Nara. The city planning of the City of Nara has not prevented large-retail stores located in suburban residential areas. In contrast, retail stores have relatively more concentrated in the city center and other existing shopping streets. The assessment report by the City of Nara said the vitalization of Nara city center has not succeeded because retail turnover of the city center has decreased. But the city center of City of Nara has not relatively declined in terms of the number of retail outlets. It needs to select more appropriate indices than retail turnover for evaluating revitalization of the city center. Students' understanding of Spatial Geometry : Case of 2D representations of Cubes
No full textIt is important for students to have sound understanding about 2D representations of 3D shapes because they are a means of representing various 3D solids as well as being useful in various everyday situations. However, it is reported that many students have difficulties in working with such representations. In order to gain insights to tackle students' difficulties, we conducted a survey among 1357 students in Grades 4-9, focusing on their understanding of 2D representations of cubes. We examined their answers and reasoning both quantitatively and qualitatively, in particular focusing on how they visualize shapes in the given diagrams and make use of‘ diagonals' and their relationships with angles and lengths to solve problems. We concluded that students' difficulties might come from their understanding of ‘diagonals' and suggest that students should be given more opportunities to consolidate their understanding of diagonals, manipulate and reason 3D shapes.departmental bulletin pape
