p-adic Estimates of the Number of Permutation Representations
application/pdfLet p be a prime, and let G be a finite abelian p-group of type λ=(λ1,λ2,…) with λ1≥λ2≥⋯ and ∑λi=s. Set u=max{λ1,[(s+1)/2]} and v=s−u. For each nonnegative integern, let hn(G) be the number of homomorphisms from G to the symmetric group Sn on n letters. Except for the case where p=2and u+δv0≤v+1, δ the Kronecker delta, or p=3 and u=v≥1, there exist p-adic analytic functions fr(X) for r=0,1,…,pu+1−1and a polynomial η(X) with integer coefficients such that for any nonnegative integer y, hpu+1y+r(G)=p{∑j=1upj−(u−v)}yfr(y)∏j=1yη(j)and ordp(hpu+1y+r(G))={∑j=1upj−(u−v)}y+ordp(fr(y)). If p=2, λ3=0, and u=v≥1 or if p=3 and u=v≥1, then hn(G) has analogous properties. Under the assumption that λ3=0, some results for the number of permutation representations of G in the wreath product of a cyclic group of order p with Sn are also presented.journal articl
Fluorescence enhancement induced by quadratic electric-field effects on dynamics of singlet exciton in poly(3-hexylthiophene) dispersed in poly(methyl methacrylate)
application/pdfThe dynamics of the exciton generated by photoexcitation of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) polymer dispersed into a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix has been examined by using electro-photoluminescence (E-PL) spectroscopy, where electric field effects on photoluminescence (PL) spectra have been measured. The quadratic electric-field effect have been investigated by using the modulation technique, with which the field-induced change in PL intensity synchronized at the second harmonic of a modulation frequency of the applied electric fields was monitored. Absorption and PL spectra are indicative of the formation both of the ordered crystalline aggregates and of the amorphous regions of P3HT polymer chains. Although previous studies of the electric field effects on π-conjugated polymers showed, in general, that the PL intensity was decreased by electric fields, we report that the PL intensity of P3HT increases and the PL lifetime becomes longer, as the quadratic electric-field effect. The magnitude of the change in PL intensity was quantitatively explained in terms of the field-induced decrease in the nonradiative decay rate constants of exciton. We conjecture that a delayed PL which originates from the recombination of the charge carriers is enhanced in the presence of electric fields. It is also implied that the rate constant of the downhill relaxation process of the exciton, which originates from the relaxation in distributed energy levels due to inherent energetic disorder in P3HT aggregates, becomes smaller in the presence of electric fields. The radiative decay rate constant and PL quantum yield of P3HT dissolved in solution, which are evaluated from the molar extinction coefficient and the PL lifetime, are compared with the ones of P3HT dispersed in a PMMA matrix.journal articl
Polarization Converter Based on Square Lattice Photonic Crystal Fiber with Double-Hole Units
application/pdfIn this study, a novel polarization converter (PC) based on square lattice photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed and analyzed. For each square unit in the cladding, two identical circular air holes are arranged symmetrically along the y = x axis. With the simple configuration structure, numerical simulations using the FDTD analysis demonstrate that the PC has a strong polarization conversion efficiency (PCE) of 99.4% with a device length of 53 μ m, and the extinction ratio is −21.8 dB. Considering the current PCF fabrication technology, the structural tolerances of circular hole size and hole position have been discussed in detail. Moreover, it is expected that over the 1.2∼1.7 μ m wavelength range, the PCE can be designed to be better than 99% and the corresponding extinction ratio is better than - 20 dB .journal articl
Vapochromic Emission Observed for Amorphous Molecular Materials: Emitting Properties of N,N-Bis(9,9-dimethylfluoren-2-y1)-4-nitroaniline
application/pdfThe title compound, NO2-F2PA, exhibited solvatochromic emission, that is, the emission spectra of hexane and toluene were different from each other and the emission was quenched in THF, acetone, ethanol, and acetonitrile. In addition, the amorphous film of NO2-F2PA exhibited vapochromic emission. Reddish orange emission of the film at ambient atmosphere changed to yellowish green one upon exposure to hexane vapor and recovered to the original after drying. On the other hand, the emission of the film was quenched upon exposure to THF and ethanol vapors.journal articl

A Field Study of the Present Condition of Imabari City's 'Mujin' Group
application/pdfThe mutual loan association, the financial means for many ordinary people, was thought to have perished due to the development of the modern financial industry. In some regions, however, it still actually exists. In Imabari city in Ehime prefecture, mutual loan associations are still active and this has been confirmed by a survey. This was the first research-based survey of mutual loan associations to be carried out. Further, though many believe it is an inefficient financial means when compared to the modern financial system, from an analysis of the survey results reasons for these mutual loan associations’ continuance are outlined.学術論文departmental bulletin pape
