Fast Networking for Disaster Recovery
application/pdfContent-Centric Networking (CCN) is now a research hotspot aiming at building up a new network architecture compared with the traditional IP-based, host-centric one. In this paper, after leaning that CCN's content naming and content-based properties make it suitable for fast network organizing in disaster recovery, we propose methods on access point placement and routing to fast connect users in a middle-scale post-disaster scenario model. Our work includes the design of a placement algorithm using graphic union coverage and a CCN routing strategy based on Breadth-First Searching, both extracting the social attributes of user node distribution. We use real-world maps for simulation and carry out comparative analysis with existing Ad Hoc methods under the same experimental conditions. The simulation results show that CCN can bring more efficient routing and robust framework to fulfill the urgent demands of post-disaster recovery.journal articl
DeSVig: Decentralized Swift Vigilance Against Adversarial Attacks in Industrial Artificial Intelligence Systems
application/pdfIndividually reinforcing the robustness of a single deep learning model only gives limited security guarantees especially when facing adversarial examples. In this article, we propose DeSVig, a decentralized swift vigilance framework to identify adversarial attacks in an industrial artificial intelligence systems (IAISs), which enables IAISs to correct the mistake in a few seconds. The DeSVig is highly decentralized, which improves the effectiveness of recognizing abnormal inputs. We try to overcome the challenges on ultralow latency caused by dynamics in industries using peculiarly designated mobile edge computing and generative adversarial networks. The most important advantage of our work is that it can significantly reduce the failure risks of being deceived by adversarial examples, which is critical for safety-prioritized and delay-sensitive environments. In our experiments, adversarial examples of industrial electronic components are generated by several classical attacking models. Experimental results demonstrate that the DeSVig is more robust, efficient, and scalable than some state-of-art defenses.journal articl
Effects of Chemical Pressure on Rare-Earth Oxide GdNIn0.7Co0.3O3 with Nonmagnetic Element Substitution
application/pdfWe studied the effects of chemical pressure on Gd1-yRyMn0.7Co0.3O3 (R = nonmagnetic rare-earth element) with y = 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5. The substitution of Gd with La, Y, or Lu in orthorhombic Gd1-yRyMn1-xCoxO3 induced a systematic change in the unit-cell volume. Our results reveal that increasing or decreasing the average ionic radius of the rare-earth element in the compound affects the magnetic ordering temperature T-C. The reduction in the proportion of Gd owing to substitution by nonmagnetic elements weakens the spin reversal effect.journal articl
Sensitivity-Based Structural Optimal Design With Bi-Directional Beam Propagation Method for Photonic Devices in High-Index-Contrast Waveguides
application/pdfThis paper presents structural optimization based on sensitivity analysis exploiting a bi-directional beam propagation method (Bi-BPM) to design efficiently passive components in high-index-contrast optical waveguides. In this study, the Bi-BPM based on scaled-version Denman-Beavers iteration (S-DBI) with branch-cut technique, and scattering operator formulation (SO-Bi-BPM) is employed to execute stable, accurate wave-propagation analysis. Comparing three computation approaches of sensitivity with respect to design variables, efficient way of sensitivity analysis is revealed when the SO-Bi-BPM is used. The application range of the presented design approach is studied by designing a wavelength filter with waveguide grating, and a polarizer based on 1D photonic crystal (1D-PhC).journal articl
The List of Accent in Idiomatic Osaka Dialect
journal articl
The high increasing application of copper due to its advantages attract the author to do research on copper. In addition, research about dual fuel mode in a diesel engine also discussed as follows:1. Ant nest corrosion (ANC) had been found and observed on the copper tube in the air conditioner. However, the mechanism of ANC is still unclear explained. In order to understand the mechanism and behavior of the ANC, a research investigation of ANC on the copper tube was conducted in terms of the variables of the corrosion potential and pH value in 103 ppm copper formate solution over 20 days. The surface observation, cross-sectional observation, daily pH measurement, and electrochemical measurements were conducted in this research. By using all these results, the author explains the mechanisms of the ANC. It was found that Cannizzaro and Comproportionation reaction critically influenced the ANC mechanism. 2. The copper electrode is still a promising electrode in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The Tafel extrapolation method (TEM) is commonly used for the estimation of the exchange current density (i0) on the HER. However, TEM is still hindered because of some issues, such as the improper reading of Tafel slope and the influence of physical resistant. The differential polarization method (DPM) was introduced in this dissertation as a reliable method to estimate the value of the i0. The research was conducted a measurement of HER on copper electrode in 0.5 mol dm-3 H2SO4 solution. The value of i0 is calculated using both methods; the TEM and the DPM. It found that the DPM is a promising method in the calculation of i0. 3. Biodiesel fuel and biogas fuel as promising alternative energy sources for dual‐fuel mode(DFM) diesel engine attract more researchers. Therefore, The DFM operation of diesel engine using biodiesel fuel from used cooking oil and simulated biogas fuel with different methane contents were conducted and focused on the combustion, rate of heat release, combustion stability, and performance. The observation of diesel engine was conducted by varying the torques and engine speeds. The relation of the results of biodiesel replacement, biogas energy ratio, and brake thermal efficiency with methane content ratio in DFM show that the methane content ratio has the maximum effect in DFM. In addition, the carbon dioxide content in the biogas can enrich the brake thermal efficiency. The combustion stability of all conditions is from 1.7% to 4.89%, which is still acceptable.doctoral thesi
application/pdfIn order to establish a numerical analysis method for appropriately evaluating the impact behavior of the RC beams strengthened in flexure with FRP sheet under impact loading, 3D elasto-plastic impact response analyses of the RC beam were conducted by varying three different constitutive models for concrete: KCC; CSCM; and proposed model. The applicability of each constitutive model was investigated to compare with the experimental results. Results obtained from this study were as follows: 1) in the case of the unstrengthened RC beams, the dynamic impact behavior of the beam can be properly predicted irrespective of the models; and 2) in the case of the strengthened RC beams, the dynamic response behavior can be appropriately simulated by applying the proposed model.journal articl
The possibility of development of 'businesses-utilizing urban parks' from the viewpoint of local governments
application/pdfThe purpose of this research is to consider the possibility of 'businesses-utilizing urban parks' and the difference between local governments in metropolitan areas and local governments in regional areas, paying attention to the viewpoint of local governments nationwide. The survey method of this research is based on a questionnaire survey distributed and collected by mail and targeting a total of 815 organizations in 20 government-designated cities, 772 cities, and 23 special wards nationwide at the time of the survey (August 1, 2019). Results of the survey show that, in order to disseminate 'businesses-utilizing urban parks' in the future, it is highly likely that it will be effective to publicize specific introduction cases rather than abstract information such a philosophy and concepts. Furthermore, it is inferred that formulating a master plan for the park management is effective in facilitating consensus building between local government organizations, and it is important to provide a place of learning for administrative staff and private businesses. In addition, in metropolitan areas, there are many local governments that are keenly aware of 'businesses-utilizing urban parks', while in regional areas, it is presumed that there are still few local governments that are conscious of 'businesses-utilizing urban parks'.journal articl
Pore Filling Effect of Forced Carbonation Reactions Using Carbon Dioxide Nanobubbles
application/pdfVarious methods for repairing and modifying concrete surfaces have been proposed and applied to improve the durability of existing concrete structures. Surface modification through forced carbonation is a method of densification that forms calcium carbonate in the pores on the surface of concrete to improve its durability. In this study, to evaluate the applicability of this surface modification method to existing buildings, a series of experiments was conducted in which mortar specimens were repeatedly immersed in a carbon dioxide nanobubble aqueous solution. By evaluating the weight change and absorption rate, it was determined that the higher the water/cement ratio of the mortar specimen, the higher the pore filling effect owing to immersion in the carbon dioxide nanobubble aqueous solution. In addition, the effect of clogged pores generated by the precipitation of calcium carbonate was confirmed, and it was found that the higher the water/cement ratio of the mortar specimen, the higher the pore filling effect due to clogging. We believe that our findings contribute to the development of research and construction practices associated with concrete repair and restoration.journal articl
