High Quality Rolled-Up Microstructures Enabled by Silicon Dry Release Technologies
Micro-technology relies on a highly parallel fabrication of 2D electronic and/or microelectromechanical devices, where in most cases silicon wafers are used as substrates. In contrast 3D fabrication shows unique advantages, such as footprint reduction or the possibility to obtain additional functionalities. For example, in the case of a sensor, knowledge of the acceleration in all possible directions, the surrounding electric or magnetic field among other quantities can help to determine the exact position of an object in 3D space. To do that it is crucial to retrieve all components of a vector field, which requires at least one out of plane component. In other fields like integrated optics three dimensional structures can enhance the coupling efficiency with free space interactions. As such 3D micro-structures will be crucial for upcoming products and devices. A highly parallel fabrication is required to enable mass-adaption, self-assembly is an emerging technology that could deliver this purpose. Examples of 3D structures created by self-assembly include polyhedrons like cubes, pyramids or micro tubular structures such as tubes or
spirals. Following a self assembly scheme, 3D devices would be created through the fabrication of standard 2D structures that are reshaped through a self-assembly step into a 3D object.
In this thesis a novel dry release protocol was developed to roll-up strained nanomembranes from a silicon sacrificial layer employing dry fluorine chemistry. This way a wet release is totally circumvented thus preventing damage of the created structures due to turbulent flow or capillary forces. Additionally the developed process enabled the use of standard CMOS deposition and processing tools, leading to a high increase in yield and quality, with yields exceeding 99% for microtubes. Building on the developed technology various devices where fabricated, for example rolled-up micro capacitors at a wafer scale with an increased yield and a low spread of electrical characteristics. For the E12 industrial standard more than 90% of devices behaved within the required performance characteristics. Furthermore the yield and Q-factor of roll-up whispering gallery mode resonators was strongly improved, making it possible to self assemble 3D coupled photonic molecules, which showed a mode splitting exceeding the FSR, as well as hybrid
supermodes at points of energy degeneracy.:Contents

Reinforcement learning estimates muscle activations
A digital twin of the human neuromuscular system can substantially improve the prediction of injury risks and the evaluation of the readiness to return to sport. Reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms already learn physical quantities unmeasurable in biomechanics, and hence can contribute to the development of the digital twin. Our preliminary results confirm the potential of RL algorithms to estimate the muscle activations of an athlete’s moves.
To improve the mechanical comfort during load carriage, a trekking backpack was modified and examined by means of pressure distribution measurement. The modifications resulted in decreased pressure loads in the sacroiliac joint area. The load transfer to the pelvic belt was improved. The modified backpack could prevent the development of lumbo-sacral complaints on trekking tours in the long term
From Wednesday, 21 April 2021, to Friday, 23 April 2021, the Archive for German Polar Research (AdP) of the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, and the Association of German Archivists (VdA) hosted the spring meeting of Division 8 of the VdA. This meeting was already planned for spring 2020 and then had to be cancelled. In 2021, the conference was planned from the outset as a digital conference. In addition to the conference programme, a digital break room was set up under Wonder.me, where conference participants could meet informally for collegial discussions. The conference was dedicated to the topic of 'digitisation' in all its breadth - naturally with reference to the archives in our section.
Under this premise, we dealt with various aspects of the topic in lectures, workshops, discussions and guided tours.
These include: collection, processing, storage and preservation of research data, records management in the context of document management systems, the establishment of digital archives, use of archives in the context of portals, legal aspects of the digitisation process in the archive and future possibilities of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital workflows of an archive

Lithium-Ion Battery State of Charge Modelling based on Neural Networks
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries have become a crucial factor in the recent electro-mobility trend. People's increased interest in electric vehicles (EVs) has motivated several automotive
manufacturers and research organizations to develop suitable drivetrain designs involving batteries. Especially the development of the 48V Li-ion battery has been of
great importance to reduce CO2 emissions and meet emission standards. However, accurately modeling Li-ion batteries is a difficult task since multiple factors have to be
considered. Conservative Methods are using pyhsico-chemical models or electrical circuits in order to mimic the battery behavior. This thesis deals with developing a Li-ion
battery model using artificial neural network (ANN) algorithms to predict the state of charge (SOC) as one of the key battery management system states. Due to the rising
power of GPUs and the amount of available data, ANNs became popular in recent years. ANNs are also applicable to different areas of battery technology. Using battery data
like the battery voltage, temperature, and current as input features, a neural network is trained that predicts battery SOC. A novel approach based on ANNs and one of the
most commonly used SOC estimation methods are presented in this thesis to model the battery behavior. Furthermore, an approach for dealing with the highly unbalanced data
by creating multidimensional bins and compare different neural network architectures for time series forecasting is introduced. By creating the model, our main priority is to reduce
the model's errors in extreme operating areas of the battery. According to our results, long short-term memory (LSTM) architectures appear to be the best fit for this task.
Finally, the developed ANN model can successfully learn battery behavior, however the model's accuracy under harsh operating circumstances is highly dependent on the data

LiteraturverzeichnisThe presented thesis has been developed during a three year graduation at the Volkswagen AG. It was split in two parts. The first part was passed in the technical development acoustics (EGNE) in Wolfsburg and the second one in the quality assurance acoustics (COK-Q3/3) in Kassel. It deals with the determination of vehicle related limit values for accelerations of gear boxes regarding the acoustic comfort in the car. Disturbing noise is primary seen as so called orders of the gear wheels. By developing a ground truth doing several measurements in vehicles and by programming a framework in python those limit values are derived. Furthermore this thesis describes the classification of gear boxes regarding the acoustic characteristics in particular at so called End-Of-Line test benches. These test benches are used for functional check and in case of gear boxes as well as for the acoustic rating. Several measurements have been done at different test benches in order to increase the correlation between the test bench results and the subjective acoustic comfort of vehicles. Therefor several features are extracted from the acceleration measurements and used for a classification by hint of a machine learning approach. It becomes apparent that the use of a support vector machine is able to partly improve the status quo end of line testing regarding the named correlation.:Erklärung des Autors
