　19世紀終わりから始まった中国人の日本留学は、中国に日本経由で西洋
起源の近代文明をもたらした。社会主義とマルクス主義も、初期は主に日本
から伝播した。その伝播は、学術研究と翻訳を通じた知的影響が主であり、
まさに留学生がその担い手となった。やがて日本は中国人留学生の政治運動
の舞台ともなった。本報告でぱ中国革命に寄与した二人の中国人留学生を紹
介する。
　一人目は江隆基（1905～1966年）である。江隆基は陳西省出身で、1925
年に北京大学に入学し、李大釧や胡適に影響を受けた。李大釧の影響の下、
1927年に中国共産党に入党した。1927年8月日本に渡り、翌春明治大学政
治経済学部に入学した。日本では、河上肇の著作などによりマルクス主義を
学び、党員として「中共東京特別支部」でも活動した。1929年9月、日本
の中国侵略に抗議する「銀座デモ」に参加したために警視庁に逮捕され、国
外追放となった。帰国後はさらにドイツに渡り、ベルリン大学で学び、
1936年再帰国し延安大学副校長等を務めた。人民共和国成立後は、北京大
学副校長を務めるが1957年の反右派闘争で更迭され、文化大革命の迫害に
より死去した。
　もう一人は任白k（1906～1986年）である。任白kは四川省出身で、
1926年に中国共産党に入党した。1928年には上海で革命文化運動に参画し、
1930年には『イリイチの弁証法』を日本語から中国語に翻訳した。1933年
には上海で中国左翼作家連盟（左聯）に参加した。1935年に日本へ渡り、

東京で左聯書記や上海留日救国会学生救国会常務委員を務めた。1937年の
帰国後は、延安で抗日軍政大学総校教員となった。人民共和国成立後は、重
慶市人民政府委員、四川省副省長などを歴任した。
　二人の経歴に共通しているのは、日本留学前に中国共産党に加入し、中国
人留学生を組織して政治運動に取り組んだことである。当時の日本の警察資
料には、明治大学をはじめ日本の大学に中国共産党の組織が存在していたこ
とが記録されている。1920年代後半以降は、近代化のための知識を日本で
学ぶだけでなく、特に左翼の中国人留学生にとって、日本と日本の大学が政
治運動、革命運動の足がかりとなっていたことが指摘できよう。
※任白kの経歴は「任白k」『中国留学生大辞典』（南京大学出版社、1999年）
に，江隆基の経歴は苗高生等著『江隆基伝』（蘭州大学出版社、2015年）に
依拠した。
※本シンポジウム当日の報告では、上記『中国留学生大辞典』に依拠して、
任白2は明治大学留学生であったと述べた。しかしその後、任白kの回顧録
「我在左聯東京分盟工作的時候」『中共東京支部1935－1938』（広州出版社、
2013年）に、任白kは日本のどの学校にも在籍していなかったとの記述を
見出したため、報告要旨を『大学史紀要』に収録するに当たり、関連部分を
修正した。

　　　　Chinese　students　began　to　study　in　Japan　at七he　end　of　the　19th
century，　they　brought　modern　Western　civilisation　to　China七hrough
Japan．　Socialism　and　Marxism　also　spread　mainly　from　Japan　in　the
beginning．　They　were　spread　through　human　relations　and　translations．
Chinese　intellectuals　who　studied　in　Japan　had　important　roles　for　this．
Eventually，　Japan　and　Japanese　universities　also　became　the　stage　fbr
political　movements　by　Chinese　students．　In　this　presentation，　two
Chinese　studen七s　who　went　to　Japan　would　be　introduced．
　　　The　first　is　Jiang　Longji（1905－1966）．Jiang　Longji　was　born　in
Shanxi　Province　and　entered　Peking　University　in　1925，　where　he　was
influenced　by　Li　Dazhao　and且u　Shi．　He　joined　the　Chinese　Communist
Party　in　1927　under　the　in且uence　of　Li　Dazhao．　He　travelled　to　Japan　in
August　1927　and　entered　the　Faculty　of　Political　Science　and　Economics
at　Me巧i　University　in　the　fbllowing　spring．　In　Japan，　he　studied　Marxism
through　the　works　of　Kawakami　Hajime　and　became　an　active　in　the
Chinese　Communist　Party　Tokyo　Special　Branch．　In　September　1929，　he
was　arrested　by　the　Metropolitan　Police　Department　for　participating　in
the　Ginza　Demonstration　to　protest　Japan’s　invasion　of　China，　and　was
deported　from　Japan．　After　returning　to　China，　he　went　to　Germany　to
study　at　the　University　of　Berlin．　He　returned　to　China　in　1936　to　serve

as　vice・principal　of　Yan’an　University．　After七he　establishment　of　the
People’s　Republic　of　China，　he　served　as　vice　president　of　Peking
University，　but　was　disgraced　during　the　Anti・Rightist　Struggle　in　1957，
and　died　as　a　result　of　persecution　during　the　Cultural　Revolution　in
1966．
　　　Another　is　Ren　Baige（1906－1986）．　He　was　born　in　Sichuan
Provillce　and　joined　Chinese　Communist　Party　in　1926．　In　1928，　he
participated　in　the　revolutionary　cultural　movement　in　Shanghai．且e
translated　Leπ‘π否Diαlectic　from　Japanese　to　Chinese　in　1930．　He　also
joined　Chinese　League　of　Leftist　Writers．　He　went　to　Tokyo　in　1935　and
served　as　the　secretary　of　Chinese　League　of　Leftist　Writers　in　Tokyo　and
the　standing　committee　member　of　Saviour’s　Association　of　Chinese
Students　in　Japan．　In　1937，　he　returned　to　China　and　assumed　a　teacher
of　Chinese　People’s　Anti－Japanese　Military　and　Political　College　in
Yan’an．　After　the　founding　of　People’s　Republic　of　China，　he　served　as　a
commi七tee　member　of　Chongqing　City　Government，　vice　Governor　of
Sichuan　Province　and　so　on．
　　　What　the　two　men　have　in　common　is　that　they　joined　the　Chinese
Communist　Party　befbre　traveling　to　Japan，　and　while　in　Tokyo，　they
organized　Chinese　students　and　engaged　in　political　movements．
Japanese　police　documents　at　that　time　recorded　the　presence　of　Chinese
Communist　Party’s　organisations　at　Japanese　universities，　including
Meiji　University．　It　could　be　pointed　out　that　after　the　1920s，　Japan　and
Japanese　universities　not　only　were　the　places　to　study　kllowledge　fbr
modernisation，　but　also　served　as　a　springboard　for　political　and
revolutionary　movements　especially　for　left－wing　Chinese　students．
※At　this　symposium，　I　had　introduced　Ren　Baige　as　a　Chinese　student

of　Meiji　University．　After　this　symposium，　Hbund　his　reminiscence　in
which　he　described　he　had　no　school　registers　in　Japan．　Therefbre，　I　have
made　some　modi丘cations　to　related　sentences　in　my　report　on　that　day．
