Ableitung dynamisch über Visualisierungen entdecken:Ein Arbeitsblatt-basierter Lernpfad mit interaktiven GeoGebra-Applets
In diesem Beitrag wird eine Unterrichtssequenz zur Einführung des Ableitungsbegriffs vorgestellt, die als Arbeitsblatt-basierter Lernpfad konzipiert ist. Zentrale Bestandteile sind kognitiv aktivierende Aufgaben, die sich auf dynamische GeoGebra-Applets beziehen. Diese Applets können über QR-Codes oder Links auf den Arbeitsblättern aufgerufen werden. Die inhaltliche Gestaltung orientiert sich an den beiden zentralen Grundvorstellungen Lokale Änderungsrate und Tangentensteigung sowie an den drei Ebenen ratio, limit und function des Rahmenmodells zum Verständnis der Ableitung nach Zandieh (2000). Ergänzend enthält der Beitrag exemplarische Verlaufspläne zur Umsetzung der Sequenz im Unterricht.This paper presents a teaching sequence for introducing the concept of the derivative, designed as a worksheet-based learning path. Central components are cognitively activating tasks that refer to dynamic GeoGebra applets. These applets can be accessed via QR codes or links provided on the worksheets. The content is structured around the two central basic mental models local rate of change and tangent slope, as well as the three layers ratio, limit, and function from the framework for understanding the derivative proposed by Zandieh (2000). Additionally, the paper includes exemplary lesson plans for implementing the sequence in classroom practice

Das Käte Hamburger Kolleg „Einheit und Vielfalt im Recht“ untersucht Phänomene der ungelösten Gleichzeitigkeit von Einheit und Vielfalt im Recht. Rechtsvielfalt, so die These, ist nicht als Zeichen defizitären Rechts oder dysfunktionaler Rechtspraxis früherer Epochen oder gar außereuropäischer Gesellschaften zu begreifen, sondern als Strukturmerkmal des Rechts schlechthin. Dem korrespondiert die nur auf den ersten Blick paradoxe Beobachtung, dass sich in allen Kulturen und zu allen Zeiten, wenn auch je unterschiedliche Tendenzen zur Vereinheitlichung von Recht finden lassen. Das Programm des Kollegs ist es, diese spannungsreiche Dynamik von Einheit und Vielfalt im interdisziplinären Gespräch wissenschaftlich neu zu vermessen, um so ungewohnte Einsichten für das Verständnis von Recht und Gesellschaft im Allgemeinen und von (rechtlichen) Umgangsweisen mit Formen kultureller Diversität im Besonderen zu eröffnen.

Activity of tafasitamab in combination with rituximab in subtypes of aggressive lymphoma
Background: Despite recent advances in the treatment of aggressive lymphomas, a significant fraction of patients still succumbs to their disease. Thus, novel therapies are urgently needed. As the anti-CD20 antibody rituximab and the CD19-targeting antibody tafasitamab share distinct modes of actions, we investigated if dual-targeting of aggressive lymphoma B-cells by combining rituximab and tafasitamab might increase cytotoxic effects. Methods: Antibody single and combination efficacy was determined investigating different modes of action including direct 'cytotoxicity', antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP) in 'in vitro' and 'in vivo' models of aggressive B-cell lymphoma comprising diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and Burkitt lymphoma (BL). Results: Three different sensitivity profiles to antibody monotherapy or combination treatment were observed in 'in vitro' models: while 1/11 cell lines was primarily sensitive to tafasitamab and 2/11 to rituximab, the combination resulted in enhanced cell death in 8/11 cell lines in at least one mode of action. Treatment with either antibody or the combination resulted in decreased expression of the oncogenic transcription factor MYC and inhibition of AKT signaling, which mirrored the cell line-specific sensitivities to direct cytotoxicity. At last, the combination resulted in a synergistic survival benefit in a PBMC-humanized Ramos NOD/SCID mouse model. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the combination of tafasitamab and rituximab improves efficacy compared to single-agent treatments in models of aggressive B-cell lymphoma 'in vitro' and 'in vivo'
Angular stable plate fixation provides favorable biomechanical stability in simulated T-shaped acetabular fractures: a biomechanical study
Background and purpose: The treatment of acetabular fractures remains technically demanding. In the case of reduced bone quality or fracture morphology reducing the amount of bone available for fixation, locking plates should provide considerable advantages. The aim of the present study was to compare conventional and locking plate fixation. It was hypothesized that locking plate fixation provides less displacement and higher construct stiffness. Methods: A T-shaped acetabular fracture was simulated in 16 synthetic pelvic models. The fracture was addressed with a biplanar 10-hole 2-column plate buttressing the medial acetabular wall. Optical markers were attached to the fracture sites for motion tracking. Standardization of the acetabulum loading mechanism was performed using a unipolar hemiarthroplasty. The primary outcome measure was displacement at the fracture sites. The secondary outcome measure was the construct stiffness (N/mm). Results: Fracture displacement was less in the group of angular stable implants compared with the group fixed with conventional non-locking implants. Under cyclic loading displacement was less in the group of locking plate fixation. No differences in mean initial axial stiffness were detected between locking plate fixation (407 N/mm) and conventional plating (308 N/mm, ∆ 99 N/mm, 95% confidence interval –48 to 245). Conclusion: We showed that locking plate fixation buttressing the medial acetabular wall achieved less fracture displacement but showed no differences in axial stiffness compared with conventional plating
A systematic review of handover actions in human dyads
Introduction: Handover actions are joint actions in which an object is passed from one actor to another. In order to carry out a smooth handover action, precise coordination of both actors’ movements is of critical importance. This requires the synchronization of both the kinematics of the reaching movement and the grip forces of the two actors during the interaction. Psychologists, for example, may be interested in studying handover actions in order to identify the cognitive mechanisms underlying the interaction of two partners. In addition, robotic engineers may utilize insights from sensorimotor information processing in human handover as models for the design controllers in robots in hybrid (human-robot) interaction scenarios. To date, there is little knowledge transfer between researchers in different disciplines and no common framework or language for the study of handover actions. Methods: For this reason, we systematically reviewed the literature on human-human handover actions in which at least one of the two types of behavioral data, kinematics or grip force, was measured. Results: Nine relevant studies were identified. The different methodologies and results of the individual studies are here described and contextualized. Discussion: Based on these results, a common framework is suggested that, provides a distinct and straightforward language and systematics for use in future studies. We suggest to term the actors as giver and receiver, as well as to subdivide the whole action into four phases: (1) Reach and grasp, (2) object transport, (3) object transfer, and (4) end of handover to comprehensively and clearly describe the handover action. The framework aims to foster the necessary exchange between different scientific disciplines to promote research on handover actions. Overall, the results support the assumption that givers adapt their executions according to the receiver’s intentions, that the start of the release of the object is processed feedforward and that the release process is feedback-controlled in the transfer phase. Supervision and Review of Dissertations Combined or Separately
Traditionell sind Betreuung und Begutachtung von Dissertationen an deutschen Universitäten vereint. In NRW soll das künftig gesetzlich verboten bzw. nur noch als begründungspflichtige Ausnahme auf Wunsch des Doktoranden erlaubt werden. Diese führt jedoch weder zu inhaltlich besseren Promotionsgutachten noch zu einem besseren Schutz von Doktoranden, sondern es gehen wichtige Informationen sowie Anreize des Betreuers verloren. Auch die geplante Pflicht, Zweit- und weitere Gutachten ohne Kenntnis der vorherigen Gutachten zu erstellen, nimmt den Gutachtern wertvolle Informationen und verschlechtert den wissenschaftlichen Diskurs.Traditionally, the supervision and review of dissertations at German universities are intertwined.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, the state government intends to prohibit this by law in the future, or to permit it only in exceptional cases upon a justified request from doctoral candidates. However, this will neither lead to better dissertation reviews nor better protection for doctoral candidates; rather, it will result in the loss of important information and incentives for supervisors. The additionally planned requirement to prepare second and follow-up reviews without knowledge of the previous reviews also deprives the reviewers of valuable information and impairs academic discourse
Cup and cap products for cohomology and homology groups of ample groupoids
This paper explores the cup and cap products within the cohomology and homology groups of ample groupoids, focusing on their applications and fundamental properties. Ample groupoids, which are étale groupoids with a totally disconnected unit space, play a crucial role in the study of topological dynamical systems and operator algebras. We introduce the cup product, which defines a bilinear map on cohomology classes, providing a graded ring structure, and the cap product, which defines a bilinear map relating homology and cohomology. The paper aims to make these concepts accessible to a broader mathematical audience, offering clear definitions and detailed explanations. We also demonstrate an application of the cap product in the analysis of automorphisms of groupoid C*-algebras. Specifically, we show how it helps determine the asymptotic innerness of automorphisms.
Our results include the first explicit computations of cup products in the cohomology of tiling spaces, which may pave the way for new research in this area
Designing and Evaluating a Collaborative Business Model for Offshore Green Hydrogen Production Using Curtailed Wind Energy
Context: The energy transition towards renewable energy sources is in full swing. Hydrogen is expected to play an important role as an energy carrier in this transition in hard-to-abate sectors such as the chemical and maritime industries. Hydrogen is commonly produced using coal and natural gas, respectively referred to as black and grey hydrogen. In contrast, renewable green hydrogen can be generated through electrolysis, a process that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from sustainable sources. However, the business case for producing green hydrogen remains unviable and is hindered by high production costs, technological barriers, and policy uncertainty. A solution commonly suggested, but not yet implemented, is utilizing curtailed energy from offshore wind farms to produce green hydrogen. The increased congestion on the electricity grid in the Netherlands, combined with the expansion of offshore wind capacity, is leading to more frequent curtailments. However, due to the uncertainty and the complexity of aligning the interests of multiple actors, stakeholders remain hesitant to invest in offshore hydrogen production. This underscores the need for collaboration and a holistic assessment of the different costs and benefits associated, as well as a viability analysis to support informed decision-making.
Objective: Therefore, this research aims to develop a Collaborative Business Model (CBM) for offshore hydrogen production using curtailed wind energy in the Dutch North Sea and subsequently evaluate the viability of the CBM using a System Dynamics simulation model.
Research Design: This research adopts a Design Science Research methodology to create both the Collaborative Business Model and the System Dynamics model. Through a systematic literature review and a co-creation workshop with practitioners and various experts, the CBM was created using the Collaborative Business Model Matrix framework. Subsequently, the System Dynamics model was designed and validated through a focus group, which quantified costs and benefits and captured the dynamics between stakeholders, ultimately enabling scenario-based viability testing.
Results: The viability analysis revealed several key drivers of viability: a focused subsidy and attention to the industrial user, aimed at bridging the price gap between grey and green hydrogen; beneficial electricity pricing for the hydrogen producer; and enforcement of the renewable REDIII hydrogen targets. The CBM and SD models serve as reference models for future collaborations in the production of green hydrogen. Additionally, the method for evaluating the viability of the CBM was found to be useful and applicable in real-world contexts.
Conclusions: The use of curtailed offshore wind energy holds large potential to support green hydrogen production. Realizing the potential requires a structured collaboration among stakeholders and a targeted policy to incentivize producers and to generate a reliable demand. The proposed CBM and SD models can guide these future efforts, providing practical tools for designing and evaluating offshore hydrogen production initiatives
Divergent Electrophysiologic Effects of Sacubitril in Digitalis- and Pinacidil-Related Shortened Repolarization: Experimental Evidence for Harmful Effects of Digitalis Glycosides
Background: Recent studies reported an abbreviation of cardiac repolarization induced by sacubitril. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the electrophysiologic effects of sacubitril in the presence of drugs that shorten the QT interval. Methods and Results: 25 rabbit hearts were retrogradely perfused. After generating baseline data, hearts were allocated to two groups. In the first group (n = 12), the IK,ATP opener pinacidil (1 µM) significantly reduced action potential duration at 90% of repolarization (APD90), QT intervals and effective refractory periods (ERP). Additional administration of sacubitril (5 µM) slightly reduced APD90. The digitalis glycoside ouabain (0.2 µM) significantly shortened repolarization duration and refractory periods. Additional infusion of sacubitril abbreviated repolarization duration and ERP. Ventricular vulnerability was assessed by delivering premature extra stimuli and burst stimulation. Significantly more ventricular arrhythmias occurred with pinacidil (26 episodes vs. 5 episodes under baseline conditions, p < 0.05). Additional sacubitril treatment had no significant proarrhythmic effect (24 episodes). Ouabain alone did not provoke ventricular arrhythmias (6 episodes vs. 3 under baseline conditions, p = ns) whereas additional sacubitril treatment significantly increased the occurrence of VT episodes (29 episodes, p < 0.01). Conclusions: Sacubitril abbreviates cardiac repolarization in ouabain-pretreated hearts. While sacubitril had no proarrhythmic effect in the presence of pinacidil, the combination of sacubitril and ouabain amplified the arrhythmic risk. The underlying mechanism is a further abbreviation of refractory periods and cardiac repolarization that facilitate ventricular arrhythmias. These findings add further evidence to the proarrhythmic capacity of digitalis glycosides in the presence of other drugs that influence cardiac repolarization
