    Die vorliegende Studie entfaltet eine sowohl diskursanalytisch wie systematisch fundierte Auseinandersetzung mit dem Offenen Theismus als paradigmatischer Ausdruck einer relational-freiheitstheologischen Denkbewegung. Ausgehend von der These, dass Gottes Sein wesentlich durch Beziehung, Freiheit und Zeitlichkeit bestimmt ist, wird die Genese des Offenen Theismus im Kontext des nordamerikanischen Evangelikalismus rekonstruiert und in ihren religionsphilosophischen Implikationen ausgeleuchtet. In kritischer Abgrenzung zum klassischen Theismus und in produktiver Nähe zur Prozesstheologie entwirft die Arbeit ein Gottesbild, das sich der Dynamik trinitarischer Liebe verpflichtet weiß. Indem der Kontext deutschsprachiger Theologie einbezogen wird, lassen sich zentrale relational-freiheitstheoretische Motive vertiefen und weiterführen. Gottes Geschichte mit der Welt wird als offener Prozess wechselseitiger Freiheit lesbar – als dramatisches Kooperationsgeschehen, das sich im Bewährungsraum von Liebe, Risiko und Hoffnung auf seine eschatologische Zielperspektive zubewegt.This study offers both a discourse-analytical and systematic engagement with Open Theism as a paradigmatic expression of a relational-theological movement. Proceeding from the thesis that God's being is fundamentally constituted by relationship, freedom, and temporality, the work reconstructs the genesis of Open Theism within the context of North American Evangelicalism and elucidates its implications for the philosophy of religion. In critical distinction from classical theism and in constructive proximity to process theology, it develops a vision of God shaped by the dynamic of trinitarian love. By engaging the context of German-speaking theology, key relational and freedom-theoretical motifs are further refined and extended. God's history with the world emerges as an open process of reciprocal freedom—a dramatic cooperative event unfolding within the testing ground of love, risk, and hope toward its eschatological horizon

    The present study reports on the mol­ecular structures and syntheses of 1,1′,1′′-[(2-bromo­eth­oxy)methane­tri­yl]tri­benzene, C_21H_19BrO, and 1,1′,1′′-[(2-iodo­eth­oxy)methane­tri­yl]tri­benzene, C_21H_19IO. Both compounds crystallized from a saturated solution in THF by slow vapour diffusion of n-hexane in the monoclinic space group P2_1/c. While the two independent mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit of 1,1′,1′′-[(2-iodo­eth­oxy)methane­tri­yl]tri­benzene show no close contacts to other mol­ecules, in the structure of 1,1′,1′′-[(2-bromo­eth­oxy)methane­tri­yl]tri­benzene the mol­ecules inter­act with each other via C—H⋯Pi contacts

    The mitochondrial protein Sod2 is important for the migration, maintenance, and fitness of germ cells

    To maintain a range of cellular functions and to ensure cell survival, cells must control their levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The main source of these molecules is the mitochondrial respiration machinery, and the first line of defense against these toxic substances is the mitochondrial enzyme superoxide dismutase 2 (Sod2). Thus, investigating early expression patterns and functions of this protein is critical for understanding how an organism develops ways to protect itself against ROS and enhance tissue fitness. Here, we report on expression pattern and function of zebrafish Sod2, focusing on the role of the protein in migration and maintenance of primordial germ cells during early embryonic development. We provide evidence that Sod2 is involved in purifying selection of vertebrate germ cells, which can contribute to the fitness of the organism in the following generations

    Tool mastering today – an interdisciplinary perspective

    Tools have coined human life, living conditions, and culture. Recognizing the cognitive architecture underlying tool use would allow us to comprehend its evolution, development, and physiological basis. However, the cognitive underpinnings of tool mastering remain little understood in spite of long-time research in neuroscientific, psychological, behavioral and technological fields. Moreover, the recent transition of tool use to the digital domain poses new challenges for explaining the underlying processes. In this interdisciplinary review, we propose three building blocks of tool mastering: (A) perceptual and motor abilities integrate to tool manipulation knowledge, (B) perceptual and cognitive abilities to functional tool knowledge, and (C) motor and cognitive abilities to means-end knowledge about tool use. This framework allows for integrating and structuring research findings and theoretical assumptions regarding the functional architecture of tool mastering via behavior in humans and non-human primates, brain networks, as well as computational and robotic models. An interdisciplinary perspective also helps to identify open questions and to inspire innovative research approaches. The framework can be applied to studies on the transition from classical to modern, non-mechanical tools and from analogue to digital user-tool interactions in virtual reality, which come with increased functional opacity and sensorimotor decoupling between tool user, tool, and target. By working towards an integrative theory on the cognitive architecture of the use of tools and technological assistants, this review aims at stimulating future interdisciplinary research avenues

    Treatment of Proximal Humeral Fractures in Older Patients During COVID-19 Pandemic in Germany

    Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic had a severe influence on the entire health sector. Until today, the effect of a SARS-CoV-2 infection on older patients with a proximal humeral fracture (PHF) is unknown. This study examined the following questions: Did the incidence of PHF of older people in Germany vary during the pandemic? Did the treatment change between the lockdown and non-lockdown periods? Was a SARS-CoV-2 infection associated with a worse outcome? Methods: Retrospective claims data of the BARMER health insurance were analysed. All in- and outpatient cases of insurance holders ≥ 65 years from 01/2010 to 09/2022, with coded diagnosis of PHF were analysed. Primary endpoints were the 1-month incidence of PHF per 100,000 insurance holders, number of operative therapies, in-hospital death and in-hospital major adverse events (MAEs). Results: 174,898 inpatient PHF cases were included. During the lockdown periods, the total incidence fell, while the outpatient incidence partially increased during the pandemic-period. Regarding the therapy allocation, there were no relevant persisting changes. In a detailed analysis of 23,979 PHF cases from 01/2020 to 09/2022, 4.1% patients suffered from a SARS-CoV-2 infection and showed a notably higher in-hospital mortality (8.1% vs 2.5%; risk adjusted OR 2.79, 95% CI 2.11– 3.70, p < 0.001) and more MAEs (17.0% vs 7.8%; risk adjusted OR 1.43, 95% CI 1.15– 1.77, p < 0.001). Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the overall incidence of PHF in older patients was reduced. The treatment allocation did not change between the pre- and intra-pandemic period. An infection with SARS-CoV-2 was associated with higher mortality and more MAEs
