Miracles
This research is on miracles. My claim is that there are levels of miracles, and some impact the laws of nature more than others. The reason for this is that some miracles affect individuals, while others impact groups of people. Let\u27s look at biblical cases: when Jesus fed over 5,000 with two fish and five loaves of bread, it had a significant impact, just like when Jesus turned water into wine. On a smaller scale in the Bible, we have the example of Jesus curing the blind, specifically the man in John 9. Now, in non-religious terms, let\u27s think about the resurrection of Jesus, which is central to many different religions, and many of these religions are still practiced today, meaning it continues to impact many people. On a smaller scale, there is the case of Luke Burgie, who was suffering from a stomach virus that doctors could not diagnose. Once they were able to diagnose Luke, his symptoms miraculously stopped. This comes together to show that levels of significance can alter the laws of nature

Token Turing Machines are Efficient Vision Models
We propose Vision Token Turing Machines (ViTTM), an efficient, low-latency, memory-augmented Vision Transformer (ViT). Our approach builds on Neural Turing Machines (NTM) and Token Turing Machines (TTM), which were applied to NLP and sequential visual understanding tasks. ViTTMs are designed for non-sequential computer vision tasks such as image classification and segmentation. Our model creates two sets of tokens: process tokens and memory tokens; process tokens pass through encoder blocks and read-write from memory tokens at each encoder block in the network, allowing them to store and retrieve information from memory. By ensuring that there are fewer process tokens, we are able to reduce the inference time of the network while maintaining its accuracy. On ImageNet-1K, the state-of-the-art ViT-B has median latency of 529.5 ms and 81.0% accuracy, while our ViTTM-B is 56% faster (234.1 ms), with 2.4× fewer FLOPs, with an accuracy of 82.9%. On ADE20K semantic segmentation, ViT-B achieves 45.65 mIoU at 13.8 frames per second (FPS) whereas our ViTTM-B model achieves 45.17 mIoU with 26.8 FPS (+94%)
Amphibian density in the Inkaterra Reserve in Madre de Díos, Peru A measurement of species density within the Inkaterra Reserve
Research on the species richness in the Amazon has been sought after for conservation work and the international trade business. Frogs, salamanders, and toads are especially rich in this wet and warm environment. This study will focus on measuring the density of these species using visual monitoring to create a list of species density and diversity. This has the goal of being able to assist in future citizen science projects in the Madre de Díos region of Peru
GirlForward Mentor Internship Experience
GirlForward is a community of support dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls who have been displaced by conflict and persecution. Girls ages 14 to 21 who identify as immigrants, refugees, or asylum seekers are served by GirlForward. Amélie Malone worked as a GirlForward Mentor Intern for the academic year 2024-2025. The Mentoring Program engages girls in 4W activities (Wellness, Wisdom, Wallet, and World) by matching them with female community mentors. As a mentor intern, I tutor girls, organize safe space events, go on home visits to meet their families, and manage volunteers. GirlForward hours for girls to hang out or receive tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school
Characterization of Peripheral Nerve Demyelination Model
Demyelination disorders impair nerve signal conduction by reducing myelin, particularly at the nodes of Ranvier, leading to motor deficits. To model peripheral nerve demyelination, we performed partial ligation of the sciatic nerve in C57BL/6J mice, monitoring them via immunohistochemistry, TEM imaging, and behavioral tests over 14 days. We observed decreased myelin basic protein, reduced neurofilament levels, and thinner myelin layers. Behavioral deficits emerged as early as day 3. These findings establish a reproducible model correlating molecular, structural, and functional deficits, paving the way for targeted therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring nerve conduction in demyelinating disorders
How Do You Study: Measuring Effects of Background Stimuli on Reading Comprehension
This study examined how auditory and visual stimuli affect reading comprehension. Participants, randomly assigned to auditory, visual, or control conditions, completed two reading comprehension tests. The auditory condition featured instrumental music, while the visual condition used a Minecraft parkour video, mimicking “sludge” content—a social media trend featuring primary and secondary visual stimuli. Results showed no significant difference between auditory and control conditions, although the control group significantly outperformed the visual condition. Future research could investigate more diverse or larger sample groups. This study contributes to findings on sensory stimuli in academic tasks and highlights directions for future exploration

Much has been discovered about the nature of proteins, but scientists around the world are still trying to understand the relationship between protein structure and function. Steps to answer these questions have been pursued in the efforts of improving predictive modeling software like Foldit with supplemented data sets. We make our own efforts to aid researchers in gaining more data, by mutating and analyzing the thermostability and catalytic activity of mutant -glucosidase (BglB) proteins
Elucidating the Function of an Evolutionarily Conserved Embryonic Splice Variant of Type II Collagen During Vertebrate Development
Our lab is focused on the highly conserved second exon of Col2a1a utilized during embryogenesis. Within this second exon is the von Willebrand Factor Type C (VWF-C) domain, which regulates the production of Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs). BMPs are essential growth factors that signal the development of cartilage, heart, bone, and neural tissue formation. Using CRISPR-Cas9 we will splice out exon 2 (subsequently knocking out the VWF-C domain) to observe the change in BMP production and its effect on the growth and development of zebrafish embryos. Given the role the VWF-C domain plays in BMP production, we expect that the removal of exon 2 of Col2a1a will severely impact the zebrafish embryonic development, characterized by developmental delays, abnormal morphology, and possible embryonic lethality
