Development of ozone effecting system without using harmful chemicals

    No full text
Recently, new bleaching methods are developed and presented as an eco-friendly alternative for the traditional bleaching processes. Traditional bleaching chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite, potassium persulfate, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, sodium perborate, sodium percarbonate, and benzoyl peroxide is harmful to human health and the environment. In this study, new eco-friendly and sustainable denim bleaching processes are developed. Textile washing and giving effect process is provided by using only ozone with different techniques without using any harmful chemicals. In terms of both technical and visual aspects, successful results have been obtained in comparison with the traditional method in ozone technology. With this new method, the processing time has been shortened and the water consumption has been reduced by about 53%

Knowledge-based personalized pattern design of legging for mass customization using support vector machine modelling

    No full text
In this study, we proposed a knowledge-based intelligent approach for pattern design of personalized garment toward mass customization using support vector machine modelling. This approach has been described and validated in the scenario of personalized legging design. The proposed models have been set up by learning from quantitative relationships between garment structure lines and controlling points, and then simulated for pattern parameters prediction. Finally, the performance of the presented approach was compared with the traditional grading method. From the experimental results, the design effect of the proposed approach is equivalent to the existing grading method. It indicates that our approach provides a feasible and valuable solution for promoting the personalized garment pattern design and facilitating the process of garment mass customization

The Possible Usage of Bayesian Networks for Predicting Toxicity of Chemical Compounds

    No full text
Bayesian Belief Networks (BBN) are a graph structure for representing the relationships between descriptors and a target variable in a given data set. This study investigated the use of this algorithm in modeling the Quantitative Structure- Activity Relationship (QSAR) of chemical compounds using toxicity assessment as an example. Selected tests from a database containing toxicity information of 12,000 compounds for 12 different toxicity tests were used. The influence of parameters describing the representation of the compound was checked. In addition, toxicity prediction models were created for selected tests and a model predicting the outcome of several tests simultaneously (multi-target). The results indicate that the obtained models have relatively good accuracy and precision. Using multi-target models based on the BBN algorithm can lead to better predictions than models for predicting a single target variable

Development of test method for the characterization of electrically conductive yarns for integration in smart textiles

    No full text
The Cluster of Excellence “CENTRE FOR TACTILE INTERNET WITH HUMAN-IN-THE-LOOP (CeTI)” [1] deals with developments and inventions concerning smart devices used in many fields, e.g. medicine and skill learning. For the integration or electrical interconnection of smart components, electrically conductive materials are often integrated into the clothing. To maintain the flexible, textile character of such smart textiles, polymer-based yarns with a metallized coating are mostly used for this purpose. In order to be able to use these yarns both in everyday life situations and in personal protective equipment with high safety requirements, it is necessary to specifically characterize and evaluate the long-term stability of the materials used. Knowledge of the electrical properties under the influence of temperature and moisture is particularly important for clothing worn close to the body, since the stress on the materials due to body and skin temperatures and user perspiration is particularly high here. At present, it is only partly possible to characterize the electrical stability of textile conductors under different application-related climatic conditions using standardized test methods. For this reason, this paper presents a newly developed measurement and test method that makes it possible to evaluate the electrical properties of yarns under defined temperature and humidity influences over a specified period of time. On the basis of different tests, the results of which are also discussed here, the measurement accuracy and repeatability of the method can be proven

Financing Professional Sports in Poland by Local Governments

    No full text
Professional sports (especially team sports, such as football, volleyball, handball, basketball, speedway and ice hockey) in Poland are financed with public funds. In particular, these funds are provided through communes, districts, Marshal Offices, and companies of the State Treasury. Providing financial support is done through granting subsidies (e.g. promoting the city through sport), purchasing shares or being the owner of a sports joint-stock company. This paper presents the legal basis for which municipal governments support professional sports. By using the case study method based on the example of sports clubs from various disciplines, the forms, methods and volume of public involvement in professional sports in our country have been shown. As a result of the conducted research, the model for financing professional sports in Poland, which differs from those existing in Western and Northern European countries, was emphasized because, in Poland, the pillars are public funds (from municipal governments). Moreover, the expansion and construction of sports infrastructure are carried out mainly with the participation of public funds (central and local). The further development of domestic sport and its professionalization will require greater market orientation of individual clubs

    The cationization of cotton/polyester blend

    No full text
Cotton cellulose can be cationized with amines and quaternary ammonium compounds in alkaline medium to change fiber surface charge. Such modified cotton adsorbs anionic dyes and auxiliaries due to attractive forces between fiber and compound. Due to crystallinity of polyester fiber, its adsorption is low. Polyester is usually modified by alkaline hydrolysis with cationic compounds as accelerators. For all these reasons, in this paper, the cationization of cotton/polyester blended fabrics was performed. The change of fabric was studied through interface phenomena – zeta potential, moisture management and adsorption of anionic optical brightener. Zeta potential confirmed that the surface charge has been changed. Cationization led to better adsorption of optical brightener and higher capillarity of fabrics
