Functional properties of nonwovens as an insulating layer for protective gloves

    No full text
The basic aim of research presented here is to analyse the influence of the incorporated microporous membrane and the technology of needling process on the functional properties of nonwovens developed as an insulating layer for protective gloves. The studied nonwovens are produced with carded web formation and mechanically bonded with needle bonding. The nonwovens studied contain a microporous membrane of PES with a thickness of 20 μm (samples ST and STL). The experimental part of the present work deals with the mechanical properties: Breaking stress and elongation as well as elastic recovery after cyclic loading. The permeability properties (air permeability) and thermal conduction are also analysed in the experimental part. Research results show that the samples ST and STL, which contain a microporous PES membrane, have a higher breaking stress than the samples T and TL without the microporous PES membrane. Samples ST and STL also show higher values of breaking elongation than samples T and TL. Samples ST and STL are mechanically bonded to the lamella plate using forked needles and therefore have a structured (ribbed) shape that affects the improved mechanical properties. The TL and STL samples, which contain a microporous PES membrane, have higher elastic recovery and lower air permeability than the T and TL samples

Solvent-based recycling of polypropylene from waste carpets: an investigation on the leaching behaviour of carpet components

    No full text
Polyolefins, mainly polyethylenes (HDPE or LDPE) and polypropylene (PP) are major types of thermoplastics used in a wide variety of applications throughout the world. Polypropylene is used in a wide variety of products, ranging from packaging materials to textile products like carpets, and one of the major contributors to environmental pollution, which calls for the development of effective and efficient recycling methods. The aim of this study was to investigate the leaching behavior of waste carpets’ components in the proprietary solvent designed for selective dissolution of PP in order to determine the pre-processes required to obtain PP-rich feedstock material and high purity recycled PP polymer

Telemedicine as a Breakthrough for the Healthcare System

    No full text
Telemedicine is one of the answers to the growing need for the different kinds of medical services which one can see in society nowadays. The technological progress observed recently is a precursor of the development of telemedicine. The possibilities offered by telemedicine are advantageous for both the patient and the healthcare provider, and one of the main benefits is access to distance healthcare. This means medical care without the need for an in-clinic appointment or for patients or medical professionals to travel to the place of treatment. Recently, when we struggled with a pandemic and limited the amount of interpersonal contact. Therefore, the solutions brought by telemedicine appear to provide an effective and safe alternative to a significant part of in-clinic appointments. In Poland, however, there are still some barriers to disseminating these solutions, including limited technical possibilities, insufficiently defined effectiveness and financial efficiency and limited acceptance by the payer. This article presents the services and possibilities offered by telemedicine, its advantages and disadvantages from the doctors’ perspective and analyses its legal aspect

Development of the alps observing network

Przedstawiamy rozwój, działanie i cele projektu ALPS. We present the development, operation and goals of the ALPS project. The project focuses on monitoring the level of light pollution in Poland, in particular in astronomical observatories. For this purpose, numerical data are collected in the form of the surface brightness of the sky, measured near the zenith, and images of the entire sky are also made. Thanks to such measurements, it is possible to quantify the degree of degradation of the night sky by anthropogenic light. This light causes an increase in the brightness of the sky, and thus a decrease in the quality of observations, i.e. scientific research in the field of astronomy. Controlling and reducing light pollution is therefore a must from an astronomy point of view. The ALPS network of observation stations is an element that can support these efforts

From Red to Turquoise – Reflections on Organizational Culture and Young Generations

    No full text
Organisational culture issues evolve along with the transformation of the labor market. It is also important to popularise the idea of turquoise organizations, which is of interest to an increasing number of management theorists and practitioners. An important issue for organizational culture is the professional functioning of the new generations – the „Zˮ generation, which is already present on the labor market, and the „Alphaˮ generation, which will enter adulthood in a few years. This article attempts to characterise synthetically various types of organizations. Based on the analysis of existing data, a list of expectations and challenges for young employees and employers is provided
