ISUF vs. HERSUS Glossary: Correlating Urban Morphology to Heritage Awareness and Sustainability of Built Environment
This paper builds on the intellectual outputs of the project titled Enhancing of Heritage Awareness and Sustainability of Built Environment in Architectural and Urban Design Higher Education (HERSUS), coordinated by the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Architecture as a leading higher education institution, with partner institutions from Venice, Cyprus, Thessaloniki and Seville. The focus of the paper is in mapping the index of concepts between ISUF Glossary and the glossary produced within HERSUS project, that will enable the comparison of the discourse in Heritage and Sustainability with the discourse of Morphological Research. The purpose of this paper is to see through the comparison of the terms from both glossaries and hence contribute to the discussion of terminology, specifically regarding RE-terms (reuse, resilience, reconstruction), that were initially set as guiding tracks of the HERSUS project. The conclusions related to the interlink between ISUF and HERSUS glossaries will be perceived as important input for tag matrix upgrade, future use of HERSUS Sharing platform (open repository of ideas), that could strengthen the role of morphological approaches in research and in architectural and urban design projects related to heritage awareness and sustainability of built environment
Impacts of daily supply on the layout of small commercial outlets in old communities: A Case Study of Shapingba street, Chongqing, China
It is of great significance to study the spatial layout of small businesses for improving the basic security of residents' lives. As the main supplier of daily necessities for residents in old communities lacking large-scale commercial construction conditions, small businesses play an important role. Based on the data collected by questionnaires and interviews, the small business layout network based on the supply-demand relationship is obtained. The structural characteristics are analysed and the small business communities are divided. According to the small business service radius, the small business community in theory is divided and the planning optimization suggestions are put forward in combination with the actual situation. The data analysis shows that the layout of small businesses is closely related to the layout of residential areas but not closely related to the layout of purchase points, which is caused by the purchase mode of small businesses. Through the analysis of coupling characteristics, the study considers that small businesses provide a large number of daily necessities in the community. It is suggested that the layout of small businesses should be considered in the planning of public facilities and targeted space optimization strategies should be taken in different communities

NeRF-based RGB-D Images Generation in Robotics – Experimental Study
Multiple learning-based algorithms in robotics require collecting
RGB-D images of the scene from various viewpoints. These procedures are
time-consuming, so many methods are trained using synthetic images. Recently,
a Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) model of the scene was proposed.
Moreover, recent methods show that this model can be trained in minutes.
This opens the possible applications in robotics for training the systems to
reconstruct scenes, grasp objects or estimate their 3D poses using RGB-D
images generated from a small number of input images. In this paper, we verify
the quality of RGB-D images generated by the Instant Neural Graphics
Primitives implementation of NeRF. We compare the obtained results from
the Instant NeRF with the ground-truth RGB-D images obtained from the
Kinect Azure and images generated from the point cloud model of the scene.
The results show that the difference between generated RGB-D images and
ground truth images is small, especially near the object
Application of Pawlak’s Conflict Model to Generate Coalitions of Local Tables with Similar Values on Conditional Attributes
Generating a model or pattern based on dispersed data available
in many different tables is difficult because there can be numerous inconsistencies
in the data. One way to deal with such a problem is to analyze
conflicts and generate coalitions of consistent local tables. This paper proposes
a model in which coalitions of tables with consistent data are created
using Pawlak’s conflict analysis approach. A model, decision tree, is created
based on the aggregated data within the coalition. This way, we get rules
that better describe the concepts found in consistent local tables
Carbon Footprint Reduction of a Petrochemical Process Supported by ML and Digital Twin modelling
This article aims to present a concept of an Artificial Intelligence
application in the form of pre-trained Machine Learning modules to reduce
the carbon footprint of a chemical recycling process.
Chemical recycling of plastic is energy-consuming as it requires relatively
high temperatures and calibration cycles based on a constantly changing
structure of raw materials. Due to that fact, complex process parameters
must be tuned to allow the production of the required fraction of gasoline. In
general, the designed IoT system enables a massive collection of technology
and environmental data and the processing of parameters to feed the Digital
Twin of a petrochemical plant.
The scientific part of the project consists of Digital Twin modelling, experiments,
simulations, and training of machine learning modules to predict
the optimal set of production line parameters based on the specific structure
of raw materials to reduce the number of calibrations and lower energy consumption
indirectly which will lead to carbon footprint reduction. There is
an here is an estimate that that deployed solution will allow reduction of energy
consumption on a monthly level of 10-15% which could generate direct
savings on a cost of energy but also savings in a field of carbon emission and
related credits. The project also includes the evaluation of predictions supported
by machine learning modules, training techniques and comparison to
expert settings to assess the quality of the application
Bon Pastor (Barcelona) A neighbourhood with a future? What future?
Bon Pastor is a neighbourhood located north of Barcelona that since the beginning 2000s, has undergone an important process of urban and social transformation. They wedged the neighbourhood between several industrial estates, with large plots awaiting transformation processes. One of them was La Maquinista which transformed the industrial site into a shopping centre and a residential complex with nearly 2,000 inhabitants, now to be expanded with the construction of 500 more homes. Right now, the turn has come for the Mercedes-Benz site, where it is intended to build 1,450 homes and introduce industrial 4.0 activities. Both operations mean an increase of up to 5,000 people, breaking the population balance between the ‘old Bon Pastor’ (a neighbourhood with origins in the 1920s) and the ‘New Bon Pastor’ labelled as ‘A new district of Barcelona’ by the press. In parallel, the 'old Bon Pastor' suffered a residential transformation promoted by the neighbours with a substitution of a group of social houses built in 1929 for new sustainable housing. New residents suppose a rupture in the economic and social structure of the neighbourhood given the difference in income already existing today, which places the old neighbourhood in a zone of vulnerability
