A Quantitative Study of AI-Voice Based Assistant Users That Anthropomorphize Technology as Social Actors
The problem was that there were limited studies that acknowledged how voice-based assistant users perceive the intelligence of voice-based assistants and the different variation levels of trust towards it. The purpose of this quantitative research was to investigate how demographic variables such as generation, ethnicity, gender and education level influence perceptions of trust and perceive intelligence towards AI-voice based assistants. The rationale for this research was that voice-based assistants have garnered 46% of the human-technology interaction. It is pivotal that voice-assistant applications listen to the need of its users’ as it pertains to the user experience. Voice-based assistants users’ perception acts as a microscope that speaks volume to voice assistants’ ability and how it gets culturally utilized. Recent studies have shown that voice-based assistant user’ perception of intelligences dictates users’ attitude towards the technology; also, their perception of anthropomorphism shifts. The central research question for this study was: Do human beings trust voice-based assistants more than themselves? The quantitative design used a survey that consisted of various closed-ended questions such as the 7-point Likert scale. Amazon M-Turk was utilized to expose a simple random sampling technique, and a total of 1171 qualified participants completed the survey. Data were analyzed through a series of descriptive statistics, ANOVA, an independent t-test and linear regressions to analyze the other mentioned research questions
Learning Management Systems Special Needs Support in K-12 Schools: A Qualitative Phenomenological Study
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe the use of learning management systems to improve student learning outcomes for K-12 special education teachers at Aldridge Independent School District in the United States. This study followed Moustakas\u27s (1994) transcendental phenomenological research methodology to describe the lived experiences of special education teachers using learning management systems. Moustakas explores the techniques and principles involved in describing human experiences to uncover their underlying essence and meaning. The central research question aims to explore the lived experiences of special education teachers using learning management systems in K-12 schools within the Aldridge Independent School District in the United States. In the context of special education K-12 stakeholders using learning management systems, phenomenological research design is appropriate. Phenomenological research can inform educational practices, contribute to the design of inclusive learning environments, and drive improvements in LMS accessibility and effectiveness. The data collection methods included individual interviews, focus groups, and observations. The research found that LMS offered potential for individualized support and fostered student independence for special education, but it also presented challenges such as limitations in providing necessary accommodations like oral administration and content language supports. Furthermore, the study highlighted the critical need for teacher expertise and professional development to effectively utilize LMS in special education settings and address cognitive, behavioral, and environmental challenges faced by teachers
Building Resilience in Ministry with Effective Supports Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Phenomenological Study of Long-Tenured Pastors in the Southeastern United States
This phenomenological study, which involved long-tenured pastors in a southeastern state in the United States, explored how these pastors framed resiliency in ministry during COVID-19 and what tools or practices helped them to be resilient. The study also explored the effects of social distancing on the demands of ministry, on pastors, and their congregations, and if earlier resiliency practices continued to suffice. Pastors were often the first professionals people went to when guidance was needed in every aspect of life. Pastors aided with not only spiritual guidance, but also, they were sought after for guidance in mental health and emotional issues. Pastors were often the first ones people went to when family issues, traumatic events, and death arose. Pastors had to balance the demands of ministry, guidance for the community at large, as well as their personal lives involving family and, sometimes, other vocations. This was exemplified during the COVID-19 pandemic spanning from February 2020 to the present. Pastors had to find strategies to cope with all the demands and, in doing so, built resilience to start again the next day. This qualitative approach explored supports that helped pastors build resilience to carry on during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The anticipated findings of this study were intended to help construct a pathway for younger pastors entering the ministry, as well as equip other long-tenured pastors with effective strategies of coping and resilience..
