Effects of Glycosides on the Antioxidant Activity of Apigenin

    No full text
P(論文)The antioxidant effects of apigenin without glycoside (APG), apigenin 7-glucoside (APG-Glu) and apigenin 7-gentiobioside (APG-Glu-Glu) on phosphatidylcholine peroxidation were investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the effects of glycosides on the antioxidant activities of APG were discussed. The Langmuir-Blodgett film of 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-3-phosphatidylcholine (PLPC) was used as a model biological membrane for AFM. The AFM images clearly indicated that APG glycosides inhibited PLPC peroxidation and that the APG glycoside had a more potent antioxidant effect than APG without glycoside. It is suggested that the antioxidant effect on lipid peroxidation depends on the distribution and orientation of the antioxidant in the lipid membrane.departmental bulletin pape

Preliminary study prior to trial production of a learning aid for use in stereoptic vision training

P(論文)The characteristics of the visual function of students with poor static stereopsis need to be clarified prior to manufacturing an experimental learning aid for teaching stereopsis. Therefore, we evaluated individual quantitative visual functions, including parvocellular, magnocellular, ventral and dorsal pathway functions. Our subjects were 118 students who had received training to become orthoptists. Based on a survey of their static stereopsis, these subjects were categorized into four groups: good stereopsis, unstable stereopsis, poor stereopsis and no stereopsis. We evaluated the parvocellular, magnocellular, ventral and dorsal pathway functions in the latter three groups. To evaluate the parvocellular and ventral pathways, static stereopsis was examined using the Titmus stereo test. To evaluate the magnocellular and dorsal pathways, contrast sensitivity was examined using frequency-doubling technology, and motion stereopsis was examined using the MV-200. Three of 118 (2.5%) students were in the unstable stereopsis group, three (2.5%) were in the poor stereopsis group and two (1.7%) were in the no stereopsis group. Thus, we concluded that trial production of a learning aid for stereopsis training using a dynamic approach would be useful for students with abnormal magnocellular and dorsal function.departmental bulletin pape

Preliminary considerations of long-term transition of 'community cats' activity : Content analysis of volunteers' annual reports in Isogo, Yokohama-city

    No full text
P(論文)This study investigated the long-term transition of community conflict caused by cat breeding, especially the case of `community cats' activity in Isogo, Yokohama-city. In this practice, residents treated `cat problem' as `residents-relation problem' thoroughly to manage community conflict, and established "guideline" including two divided claims (like/dislike cats). To examine the features of the long-term practice, content analysis on volunteers' annual reports from 2001 to 2011 was performed. The results suggested that volunteers faced many difficulties during the `community cats' activity and that appropriate communication in a community is vital in conducting the `community cats' activity.departmental bulletin pape
