Facilities for child care and child rearing through cooperative efforts of many people

    No full text
P(論文)In modern society it is regarded as a self-evident view that child rearing is done as a personal pursuit. In this paper, some of the problems associated with nursing a child in a day care center based on this selfevident view are discussed. One of the problems is that the facilities for child care become the means for the parents to reduce the burden of child rearing. It is here argued that the facilities for child care should be regarded as the means for child rearing utilising the cooperative efforts of many people so that the parents are proactively involved in child nursing.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)When oligosaccharides are built by coupling of sugars, stereoselectivity of glycosidic bonds is important for the effective synthesis of the target compound. Stereoselectivity of glycosylation depend on neighbouring group, solvents, and temperature. We tried to synthesize a glycosphingolipid from Neurospora crassa.departmental bulletin pape

    No full text
P(論文)Recently, although there are many anti-HIV agents which annual sales are over 200 million dollars in the world, it has been revealed that the supply includes various kinds of problems and the situation that the anti-HIV agents is not used enough continues in the developing countries. For a reason, in order to discover the anti-HIV agents with high effectiveness and a few side effects, those chemical structures are extremely complicated and the manufacturing costs rise necessarily. This is because it is connected to the heavy price of the therapeutic drug. In this study, the innovative synthetic method that can largely reduce the manufacturing cost is introduced.departmental bulletin pape

The case study of the lifestyle in the elderly housing

    No full text
P(論文)Through an assessment of case studies, we identified needs and preferences of lifestyle of the elderly who are living in elderly housing. We conducted interviews with 16 people living in four elderly housing units located in Kyushu region. As a result, unlike the nursing home situation, people living in elderly housing have a variety of physical and mental conditions that effect their freedom and mobility to a greater or lesser extent. The living space of most elderly housing units in Japan is generally about 18 square meters. In such a narrow room, itʼ s only possible to put a bed. Such restricted space is impractical for wheel chair users and less mobile residents. Even for residents with more mobility, the space is overly constrictive. A more effective design would be an elderly living in room of 25 square meters or more. A larger space is better for spending a long time at places other than on the bed, or on the floor as some Japanese prefer. Therefore, itʼ s necessary that the living space used during the day, in addition to the bed space, is sufficiently large enough to support to an active life.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)This study aims to examine the significance of the reception and consumption of Japanese entertainment by the general public in China-especially the Chinese youth. The first section analyzes the intentions of the Japanese government and companies that send Japanese entertainment troupes abroad, whereas the second considers the intentions of the Chinese government and Chinese corporations in their reception of Japanese popular culture. The third section describes, as an example, the management, administration, and activities of a sister group for Japanese "idols" that was launched in Shanghai. It attempts an elementary examination of the way in which youth construct their identity through activities in this group, focusing on statements that specific members have made since joining. The results elucidated the potential of limitless and, open-minded growth and development of self for individuals that have little to do with national borders, ideologies sand the economic strategies of corporations, as well as the universality of socio-educational effects that are created by interactions within youth groups.departmental bulletin pape

Effect of the Intervention Aimed at Improving Lifestyle Habits of University Students in the Recreational Activity Class

    No full text
P(論文)This study examined effects of intervention aimed towards improving lifestyle habits of university students in the 90-minute recreational activity class. This study was conducted over a period of three years 2009-2011. The intervention using behavioral change techniques was conducted during the short period at the beginning of the class in 2009. Intervention was conducted using the same method that added cognitive intervention in behavioral change techniques in 2010 and 2011. No significant change in lifestyle habits occurred using the behavioral change techniques in 2009. The intervention that combined cognitive intervention with behavioral change techniques of 2011 indicated a significant change, but there ware no significant changes in 2010 that used similar intervention. However, the number of students who improved their lifestyles was approximately double the students whose lifestyles worsened in 2010. These results suggest that the intervention that combined behavioral change techniques with cognitive intervention seems more effective in a class with many students, probably because the five stages of behavioral change are blended simultaneously.departmental bulletin pape

A study of anti-β-glucan antibody in human serum

    No full text
P(論文)In this study, we found that anti-β-glucan IgG antibodies were present in sera from the peripheral blood (PB) of normal adult donors and the umbilical cord blood (UCB) of neonates using a novel enzyme-linked immunoassay (EIA) developed in our laboratories. The titers of anti-β-glucan IgG antibodies from the PB of normal adult donors were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those from the UCB of neonates. These findings suggest that anti-β-glucan IgG antibodies in sera from the UCB of neonates may be transferred from the mothers to the neonates via the placenta. The reactivity of serially diluted purified IgG antibody prepared from the serum of a normal adult donor (human purified IgG antibody) was also positive against β-glucan in a dose-dependent manner. On the other hand, a standard rabbit anti-β-glucan IgG antibody completely blocked the reactivity of human purified IgG antibody to β-glucan in a dose-dependent manner. Taken together, these findings show that human sera contain specific anti-β-glucan IgG antibodies and suggest that these anti-β-glucan IgG antibodies may have unique actions in various immunological responses.departmental bulletin pape

The efforts of facilities, including long-term care insurance facilities, for the abolishment of physical restraint, and its outlook. : Based on surveys of staff members at long-term care insurance facilities

    No full text
九州保健福祉大学博士(社会福祉学)平成27年度We put together a list and conducted surveys in order to clarify the current situation and issues regarding physical restraint. We conducted the surveys with facility staff members on not only the long-term care insurance facility's internal regulations on restraint, but also on other items that they might regard as physical restraint and think need reviewing. In addition, we have investigated the recognition of verbal suppression (speech lock), which is considered a form of physical restraint. Based on these results, we will discuss how to perform care while respecting the resident's personality. The research consisted of the following two methods: one was literature research, including the background of the abolition of physical restraint and the situation after its abolishment. The other was a questionnaire survey targeting staff members who were taking care of the elderly in long-term care insurance facilities. The mail-in questionnaire survey was sent to 800 facilities all over Japan, and it regarded the situation of physical restraint and its recognition in 5 long-term care insurance facilities. We performed a chi-square test and residual analysis, and text mining. In addition, we conducted a mail-in questionnaire survey regarding staff members' recognition of verbal suppression (speech lock) in 2500 nursing care homes all over Japan. For the analysis, we performed simple aggregation using status recognition data, gave an initial code in the free description contents, categorized them based on the similarities of the contents, and examined any associations. The results showed the following points: 1) The following correlations were found in actions that are considered to be restraint: the rate and necessity of the implementation of restraint, the rate and recognition of restraint, the recognition and the necessity of restraint. Since service is different in each facility, the implementation of physical restraint varies depending on the procedures of each facility. 2) As "the current status of physical restraint and their initiatives", the following seven items were derived: emotional reaction and a proactive approach; the restriction of movement and countermeasures; risks on the bed and countermeasures; staff members' dilemmas and countermeasures; explanation, consent and cooperation; situations where abolishment is unsuccessful and individual attitude towards abolishment; and facility's philosophy and their creative efforts. Diverse efforts against restraint were shown. 3) Regarding the recognition of nursing care home staff members of verbal suppression (speech lock), it was suggested that not only physical restraint, but also the compensation packages of the caregivers, abuse from caregivers, and staff member attitudes were also recognized as elements which were related to the wide range of the problems. In addition, we clarified the situations and the psychological states of staff members when "speech lock" was induced. In the future, it will be required to examine efforts for the abolishment of physical restraint, both in the facility and outside the facilities, depending on the situation of the facility and the residents. In order to provide better service, each facility will be required to show creative efforts and measures, including overcoming the lack of staff members, and encouraging cooperation among the staff, family members and the residents. Abolishment of physical restraint must be overcome in order to realize a better way of care, and it will be a step towards improving the quality of care.doctoral thesi
