Development of Finger Touch Position Detection System Methods Using Single Camera

The 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Image Processing 2014, Nishinippon Institute of Technology, Kitakyushu, Japan, September 26-29, 2014We propose a new image processing-based finger touch position detection sensing method using a reflected image reflected on the screen. Using single camera by image processing to detect touch position has several significant advantages: (1) Installation of camera becomes easily (2) This system can reduce the failure rate to realize maintenance free operation. (2) This approach enables easy attachment and low-cost touch sensing. The problem when using single camera is impossible to detect the depth of the finger from capture image. In order to solve this problem, we use the reflected image of the finger appears on the screen. Detecting the fingertip and the reflected image on the screen effectively, we enable to detect touch position only using single camera. In this paper, we provide concrete method to extract fingertip and reflected image, implementation details, results of evaluation experiment, and outline future works

Development of Learning Methods and System to Practice Problems Using Digital Materials

    Get PDF
Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems 18th Annual Conference, KES-2014 Gdynia, Poland, September 2014In recent years, digital learning materials have been incorporated into schools by the spread of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In this paper, we propose learning methods to develop the expressive power, decision making and thinking skills of students using digital materials. Additionally, we develop the following features: a method that can show the data created in ePub as the digital learning materials, a feature that can search the Internet directly by linking with an Internet browser, and a feature that saves the meta-data for the learner using e-learning to reuse the data that was developed for smartphone users

    Ultra-fast lateral SOI PiN diode

電子デバイス/半導体電力変換合同研究会, 10月30日-31日, 2014年, 産業技術総合研究所 TIAナノ連携棟, 茨城県Power semiconductors are becoming key devices for energy-saving society, therefore higher performance and productivity is required. We proposed a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) PiN diode, which realizes ultra-fast reverse recovery without waveform oscillation. This diode is expected to reduce energy loss of power devices and to improve performance of inverter circuits

Internal Degradation Monitoring of Power Devices During Power Cycling Test

    Get PDF
8th International Conference on Integrated Power Electronics Systems (CIPS 2014), February 25-27, 2014, Nuremberg, GermanyA technique to monitor internal degradation to failure of power devices in real time was proposed. Required components for this technique are (1) non-destructive inside imaging, (2) power stress control and (3) device cooling. We constructed the system with scanning acoustic tomography (SAT), DC power supply controlled by own made program and water cooling system, respectively. In the case of a TO-3P packaged MOSFET, propagation of internal degradations to failure was successfully recorded as time series data by using this system. At the present time, the system is modified for high power and large size IGBT modules

Ultra-fast Lateral 600 V Silicon PiN Diode Superior to SiC-SBD

2014 IEEE 26th International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Devices & IC's (ISPSD), Jun 15-19, 2014, Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, USAUltra-fast silicon PiN diode is proposed by lateral structure with traps using silicon on insulator (SOI) substrate as shown in Fig. 1. The proposed lateral SOI silicon PiN diode achieved ultra-fast reverse recovery without waveform oscillation successfully. The proposed lateral SOI structure with traps will contributes to performance improvement of all of bipolar power devices including IGBT

Study on Image Segmentation in CT Metal Artifacts

The 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Image Processing 2014 (ICISIP2014), September 26-29, 2014, Nishinippon Institute of Technology, Kitakyushu, JapanComputed Tomography (CT) is one of the most important means of medical diagnosis and the quality of CT image can be seriously affected by metal artifacts. How to use CT image segmentation to extract the focused region is a classical difficult problem in this research field. According to the principle of CT reconstruction, after the medical image segmentation, projection of the metal part by compensation can improve the image quality. This paper first introduces the causes of the metal artifacts as well as the principle of CT image reconstruction. Then,it mainly discusses the simple and iterative threshold segmentation to solve metal artifacts. Corresponding comparison shows that the proposed method in this study has better segmentation effect based on the experimental results. Finally, the prospect of medical image segmentation is predicted to indicate future research work

Analysis of the Demagnetization Process of Nd-Fe-B Sintered Magnets at Elevated Temperatures by Magnetic Domain Observation Using a Kerr Microscope

    Get PDF
Magnetization reversal and its propagation in sintered Nd–Fe–B magnets were clearly observed at elevated temperatures up to 150 °C using a Kerr microscope, image processing, and photo editing. Simultaneous magnetization reversal in several grains along the easy axis direction occurred at elevated temperature, and the extent of simultaneous magnetization reversal increased with temperature. This indicates that reduction in the coercivity of Nd–Fe–B sintered magnets at elevated temperatures is attributable to decrease in anisotropy and insufficient pinning of domain walls at grain boundaries
