A closeup shot of the rock inscriptions which received semitic influences discovered in the archaeological site of Yumrutepe 1, Layer B. Yumrutepe located near Beyköy, İhsaniye in the province of Afyonkarahisar is a tumulus from the Phrygian period made up of four layers from A to D. Yumrutepe 1, A was found at the top of the other three layers underneath in this tumulus. Cupules carved on the surface of rocks in the terrace A with groove or without grooves look like bowl-shaped hollow that has been probably pecked, pounded or ground into the rock surface. The exact function of cupules is unclear, yet it has been supposed that cupules could have symbolic or ceremonial functions. While the surface of rock has been over eroded by the effects of weather over the time, its structure displays some signs of percussion, such as crushed particles, and surface bruising. Similar to Sarıalan in Beyköy, this might be related to water cult. This area is also related to the Cybele cult.16x24 cm, black and white photograph
