Non-minimal ln(R) F-2 couplings of electromagnetic fields to gravity: static, spherically symmetric solutions
We investigate the non-minimal couplings between the electromagnetic fields and gravity through the natural logarithm of the curvature scalar. After we give the Lagrangian formulation of the non-minimally coupled theory, we derive field equations by a first order variational principle using the method of Lagrange multipliers. We look at static, spherically symmetric solutions that are asymptotically flat. We discuss the nature of horizons for some candidate black hole solutions according to various values of the parameters R-0 and a(1)
Simple largely tunable optical microcavity
The authors demonstrate more than 9 nm tunability of the whispering gallery modes (WGMs) of rhodamine B doped water microdroplets resting on a superhydrophobic surface. Tunability was achieved by controlling the size of the microdroplets in a current controlled mini humidity chamber. WGMs were observed with quality factors of more than 8000 when kept stable. The sensitivity of the resonances to the size and shape of the microdroplet reveals opportunities for the use of this technique as a probe to characterize superhydrophobic surfaces and investigate liquid-solid surfaces
Al-doped MgB2 materials studied using electron paramagnetic resonance and Raman spectroscopy
Undoped and aluminum (Al) doped magnesium diboride (MgB2) samples were synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state synthesis method. The microscopic defect structures of Al-doped MgB2 samples were systematically investigated using X-ray powder diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance. It was found that Mg-vacancies are responsible for defect-induced peculiarities in MgB2. Above a certain level of Al doping, enhanced conductive properties of MgB2 disappear due to filling of vacancies or trapping of Al in Mg-related vacancy sites. Published by AIP Publishing
Factors affecting dropout in the smoking cessation outpatient clinic
The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of discontinuation in the smoking cessation outpatient clinic (SCC) and to examine the features of noncompliance. We retrospectively included 1324 smokers into the study. Patients were divided into two groups, as those who discontinued (dropped out) follow-up (group 1) and those who stayed in follow-up (group 2). Of the total 1324 smokers, 540 (40.8%) patients were in group 1. The mean age, smoking pack-years, and Fagerstrom scores of group 1 were lower than group 2 (p = 0.001, p = 0.008, and p = 0.007, respectively). In addition, the choice of treatment was also different between groups (p < 0.001). Motivational/behavioral therapy and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) were more common in group 1 compared with group 2. There was no difference among groups in gender, having household smokers, history of antidepressant treatment, previous quit attempts, and educational status (p > 0.05). Almost 40% of our patients did not come to their follow-up SCC visit. Younger age, lower Fagerstrom score, low amount of daily cigarette consumption, and being treated only with behavioral therapy or NRT were detected as the characteristics of the dropout group. Awareness of the characteristics of smokers who drop out of SCC programs may provide for the implementation of personalized treatment at the first appointment

Teorilerin Psikiyatri Hemşireliğinde kullanımı-II
The use of theory in the mental health field can be traced back before the 19th century. Later, with the detection of biological causes for the formation of mental health problems, psychosocial theories and biological approaches began to be used together. Accordingly, some authors tried to define the theoretical framework of psychiatric nursing, and it has been said that the biological and psychosocial theories used in the mental health field can also be used in the field of psychiatric nursing. This article discusses how psychiatric nurses can use the theories that constitute the framework of psychiatric nursing, and it explores this concept through the perspectives of the theories’ authors.
