Pairing learners in pair work activity
Although pair work is advocated by major theories of second language (L2) learning and research findings suggest that pair work facilitates L2 learning, what is unclear is how to best pair students in L2 classes of mixed L2 proficiency. This study investigated the nature of pair work in an EFL class in a college in Saudi Arabia. The L2 proficiency of the learners in such classes is often quite heterogeneous. Thirty learners allocated into similar (high – high and low-low) and mixed L2 proficiency (high-low) pairs (five pairs in each proficiency pairing) completed a short composition. The audio recorded and transcribed pair talk were analysed for the learners’ overt focus on language use and amount of L2 used. In our analysis we took into consideration the effect of proficiency pairing as well as the dyadic relationship the learners formed. Our findings suggest that decisions regarding how to best pair students in heterogenous classes depend on the aim of the activity, and that the dyadic relationship may be of greater significance than proficiency pairing

يتناول هذا البحث بالدراسة مسألة المطابقة العكسية في اسم العدد الأصلي في العربية ويعرض فيه صاحباه رؤية منهجية جديدة لتعليم هذه المسألة لمتكلّمي اللغة العربية الناطقين بها أو بغيرها . وقد توصّل الباحثان إلى إثارة عدد من القضايا في هذا الباب أهمّها مسألة العلاقة بين النحو باعتباره منوالا نظريا وطريقة نقله إلى المتعلم بواسطة رؤية منهجية / إجرائية مناسبة ومسألة العلاقة بين المطابقة المباشرة والمطابقة العكسية في اسم العدد الأصلي في العربية.
وقد كانت الفرضية المعتمدة في البحث ، أي الانطلاق من بنية اسم العدد العميقة لتعليم المطابقة العكسية ، وسيلة لإثارة مثل تلك القضايا وأداة مناسبة لتحقيق الغرض المنشود من المقال وهو اقتراح رؤية منهجية جديدة تسمح بتقريب المطابقة العكسية من متعلّمي العربية حتى يتمكّنوا من تعيين كمّ الأشياء أوّلا والتعبير عن حاجاتهم باستعمال اللغة استعمالا مرنًا مهما اختلفت المقامات وتعدّدت ثاني
Secure Instant Messaging Protocol for Centralized Communication Group
Nowadays, instant messaging (IM) represents the most used messaging service for both home and corporate users. IM is used in many different application fields. Thus, it is an effective and easy means of network-based communication. Unfortunately, this technology does not provide built-in support for security features. This paper proposes a new and secure instant messaging protocol for a centralized communication group. This protocol utilizes the ElGamal cryptosystem, RSA algorithm, and Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT.) CRT takes the responsibility of renewing the users' private keys. The intractability of the new algorithm depends on the integer factorization problem (IFP) and the discrete logarithm problem (DLP.) Evaluating the Effectiveness of VSM Model and Segmentation in Retrieving Arabic Documents
Information retrieval needs to match relevant texts with a given query. Selecting appropriate parts is useful when documents are long, and only portions are interesting to the user. In this paper, a set of IR experiments was carried out to study the impact of topic segmentation and its effect on Arabic information retrieval (IR).The system evaluation was conducted in two cases based on precision/recall criteria. Evaluate the system without using Arabic text segmentation and evaluate the system with Arabic text segmentation. Some famous information retrieval models, i.e., Vector Space Model, Relevance feedback Model were also adopted in our study for ranking relevant documents. Traditional data recall, precision and F1 measures were used to gauge IR effectiveness. A number of queries were selected and subjected to further detailed analysis to further explore the influence of topic segmentation on IR. An Intelligent National Electronic Health Record System
An intelligent EHR is a current and active research area that belongs to Health Informatics. The idea is to build an intelligent system (could be based on data mining) that helps medical and healthcare professionals to choose the right treatment and medications based on the patient medical history and the current situation.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a system where patient medical information is stored in one system that can be accessed through the Internet. In this project we designed a web based system to combine all the required information in one place where patients, doctors and other healthcare professionals can have different level of access to patients and clinical data. Patients are the main actors in the system. Every patient has his/her own profile where all his/her medical history, medical information, outpatient visits, inpatient visits & emergency situations are recorded in this profile. So whenever a doctor or a patient wishes to have a look at a patient’s record then he/she will just login to the patient’s account through Internet. Patients are free to visit any medical organizations/hospitals, and all these organizations share one file of that patient. With this significant centralization, all the doctors are out of pressure when making such a decision because of the help of centralization of the patients’ information, according to the medical history of the patient. It does not stop here, but this system includes the outpatients and inpatients to take care of. Outpatients have the abilities to book a visit to a particular doctor in a specific hospital/medical organization through the web. Inpatients are, also, involved in this system. They are able to be tracked for accuracy (e.g. to record every action has taken by a doctor or a nurse). All the visits and emergency situations can be converted into an inpatient situation where the doctors and nurses will be tracked, also, for forming a medical history that will benefit all the doctors who will treat that specific patient in the future.
The system keeps all events data in a database which will help researchers to conduct research studies based on patients data.
The intelligent aspects of the system will manifest in assisting doctors to choose the most optimal treatments and the suitable medications
Comparing Genetic Algorithms and Simulated Annealing for Solving the Pickup and Delivery Problem with Time Windows
Solving the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) and its related variants is significant for optimizing logistic planning. One important variant of the VRP is the Pickup and Delivery Problem with Time Windows (PDPTW), where it is assumed that a client may request one of two service types, a pickup or a delivery. It is required to find a set of minimum cost routes for a fleet of vehicles, while observing a number of predefined constraints. In this research, we try to handle the difficult constraints using a new solution representation and simple neighborhood moves that will maintain the feasibility of solutions throughout the search. Our solution method is tried within two meta-heuristic approaches, a Genetic Algorithm and a Simulated Annealing. Based on the performance of the two algorithms on a number of benchmark problems, we draw conclusions about which among the two algorithms seems more appropriate for solving the problem
استخدام مجموعة المصنفات لمصادقة التوقيع الديناميكي
. مع التطور والتقدم السريع في التكنولوجيا أصبحت تقريباً كل التعاملات رقمية، كما أصبحت الحاجة لأمن المعلومات ملحّة جداً. وعلاوة على ذلك فإن الأجهزة المتطورة التي تقوم بالتقاط التوقيع الديناميكي للشخص متاحة حالياً. ولذلك فإن الإعتماد على التوقيع الديناميكي لتحديد الهوية في الأنظمة الآمنة أصبح مسألة حاسمة. نهدف في هذة الورقة إلى بحث موضوع تحديد هوية الشخص سواءً بواسطة التحقق من توقيعه الديناميكي أوالتعرف على هذا التوقيع وذلك باستخدام مجموعة المصنّفات، حيث قمنا باستخدام مجموعة مصنفات والمكونة من شبكات عصبية احتمالية معتمدة على تحليل فيشر Fisher. وفي هذا البحث نقوم بدراسة مسألتين هامتين، الأولى هي كيف يتم بناء مجموعة المصنفات، وتتمحور الثانية حول كيفية اتخاذ القرار وذلك استناداً للتوقعات التي يتم الحصول عليها من كل من هذه المصنّفات. تم اختبار مجموعة المصنّفات باستخدام مجموعة البيانات أسفيسي(SVC) الخاصة بالتوقيعات الديناميكية وتم الحصول على نتائج جيدة جداً ومشجعة تعكس قدرة مجموعة المصنفات على حل المشكلة المتعلقة بمصادقة التوقيع الديناميكي
Intrusion Detection Using PCA Based Modular Neural Network
Most of current intrusion detection systems are based on machine learning methods but very few till now use clustering algorithms as a preprocessing layer to reduce the high dimensionality of data, which is difficult to analyze. In this paper we introduce Modular Neural Network for intrusion detection, which apply Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as preprocessing layer for reducing huge information quantity presented in knowledge discovery and data mining (KDD99) data set. PCA significantly reduce the high dimensionality of data set without loss of information. Then this preprocess data in the form of principal component is presented to Batch Backpropagation Neural Network for efficient intrusion detection. We rely on some experiments to calculate Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) using Modular Neural Network on KDD 99 data set. Our experimental results show improvement in the learning time due to the reduction of high dimensions of data. Also we have obtained low RMSE during training, which is below the acceptance range of 0.1. فضائل التمر في السنة النبوية
يهدف البحث إلى جمع الأحاديث الواردة في فضائل التمر، وبيان ما اشتملت عليه تلك الأحاديث من الفوائد.
وقد سلكت في جمع مادته المنهج الاستقرائي.
وقد اشتمل البحثُ على اثني عشر مبحثاً، تضمنت فضل النخلة وبركتها، وقد أشرتُ إلى الدراسات العلمية التجريبية المعاصرة.
ومن فضائل التمر: أنه لا يجوع أهله، وذكرت في هذا المبحث إلى أهم العناصر الغذائية التي يحتويها التمر. وأنه وقاية من السحر والسم، وحصول الاستشفاء به. وقد بينت معنى الوقاية بالتمر من السحر والسم، ورددت على بعض المنكرين لهذه الفضيلة.
واشتمل البحث كذلك على: بيان فضل التمر وأنه خير السحور وأنفعه، وخير ما أفطر عليه الصائم، وخير ما حُنك به الصبي بالتمر.
