Stakeholder management and value co-creation in museums : cases from Poland
This book presents an innovative approach to the strategic management perspective in the museum context. Due to the dynamic political, social, and economic challenges, museums increasingly have to apply a business-oriented perspective, yet this issue is analysed in a fragmented way. Thus, drawing from extensive literature reviews and previous studies, this multiple-case study delves into the dynamic of relationship management and value co-creation processes within a multi-stakeholder approach. While there is a growing interest in museum management, many current studies are static and fragmented, focusing mainly on visitors’ perspectives. In contrast, the presented research employs a dynamic approach to stakeholder management and value co-creation. As value creation and delivery intersect throughout the value co-creation process, the research perspective should go beyond the final recipients and the final value delivery. This was one of the concluding points. This study also considers changes in the strength of relations, the interdependence of museums’ main activity areas, and the dynamic of stakeholder salience. The presented exploration results can be interesting and relevant to museum practitioners and other people working in the culture sector, as well as to scientists and academics in the management field

What do Jesuits have in common with spiders, flies, chameleons, owls, hawks, or Sirens? Rediscover provocative arguments, tropes, and figures that formed anti-Jesuit literature in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1576-1632). This monograph examines the structure and functions of these discursive elements, often reinforced by vivid metaphor, elaborated allegory, or malicious irony, through the lens of rhetorical strategies suitable for controversy, polemic, dispute, or parody. Due to this dual focus, both structural and functional, it enables the identification of pivotal images, stereotypes, clichés, and legends associated with the Society. Many of them fuelled and continue to fuel anti-Jesuit sentiment worldwide

Chronic liver disease detection using deep convolutional neural networks with MRI data : a deep learning approach
Purpose: Chronic liver disease (CLD) is a significant health issue, and detection is crucial for effective treatment. This study aimed to develop a deep learning based convolutional neural network (DeepCNN) to differentiate CLD from non-CLD patients using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images without segmentation, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and supporting timely intervention. Material and methods: A retrospective study was conducted using MRI data from 184 patients collected between 2018 and 2024, totaling 1112 images (460 normal, 652 CLD). Various MRI sequences, including axial T1, T2, and coronal, were used. The images were preprocessed with resizing, augmentation, and normalization techniques. The DeepCNN model was trained and compared against traditional machine learning (ML) algorithms, including logistic regression, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machines, and random forest. Model performance was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrices. Results: The DeepCNN model achieved a 93% accuracy and an F1-score of 0.939. Precision and recall for CLD classification were 97% and 98%, respectively. In comparison, traditional ML algorithms performed with accuracies ranging from 72.31% to 83.16%, with random forest achieving the highest. The DeepCNN model significantly outperformed these methods, demonstrating its strength in medical image classification. Using axial-only images reduced accuracy to 86%, showing that coronal views contribute valuable information. Limitation of data constrained learning. Conclusions: The DeepCNN model provides superior accuracy in diagnosing CLD compared to traditional ML methods, using MRI images without segmentation. This approach offers a practical solution for improving CLD detection and paves the way for future enhancements using attention mechanisms and advanced deep learning architectures

Antiviral effect of poly(styrene 4-sulfonate) (PSSNa) on feline calicivirus oral infections in cats—field study
Feline calicivirus (FCV) infection causes nasal discharge, oral mucosa inflammation, ulcerations, gingivitis, and conjunctivitis, often progressing to chronic gingivostomatitis, severe pneumonia, and fatal systemic infections. With no antivirals currently available, poly(sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSSNa) was identified in 2019 as a safe inhibitor in vitro. In this preliminary single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled field study, we further characterized the PSSNa’s safety profile and tested its efficacy in cats after topical oral application. Twenty-eight cats were enrolled in the study, and they were initially treated with standard dental therapy, followed by adjuvant local oral application of PSSNa or placebo. After 4 weeks, PSSNa demonstrated a favorable safety profile with no adverse effects. The treatment group showed a significant decrease in viral load (p = 0.001) compared to placebo (p = 0.012). Disease symptoms improved significantly, though the oral health index remained unchanged. Additionally, PSSNa showed activity against multiple genetically diverse isolates, indicating a potential, exploratory link between genetic background and treatment outcome. Summarizing, this study presents initial data on the efficacy and tolerability of PSSNa treatment for FCV infections in cats. Nevertheless, several significant limitations should be acknowledged, including inconsistent drug administration by owners, non-sterile housing, sample size, variable oral disease severity, and concurrent treatments
