Possibilities in Paoli 2025 Action Plan
This strategic plan outlines a focused roadmap to strengthen Possibilities in Paoli, a volunteer-led Main Street affiliate working to revitalize downtown Paoli, Indiana. Built around Main Street America’s Four-Point Approach - Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality - the plan provides practical strategies to increase organizational capacity, deepen community engagement, and align local revitalization efforts with broader county and regional priorities.
Paoli’s historic character, strong tourism presence, and high regional visibility create significant opportunities for economic growth. However, the organization also faces challenges, including limited organizational capacity, inconsistent volunteer engagement, and gaps between local needs and existing planning documents. Possibilities in Paoli is positioned to address these issues by serving as a bridge between residents, merchants, public agencies, and community partners.
Key recommendations in this plan include assigning clear leadership roles within the organization, developing an internship program to expand capacity, implementing more consistent communication with merchants and volunteers, enhancing outreach through multiple platforms, and formalizing partnerships with local institutions. These strategies aim to strengthen internal structure, build trust with stakeholders, and support the long-term revitalization of the downtown district
Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces
The file mma.zip needs to be uncompressed into a folder mma at the same directory level as the PDF files for the hyperlinks to work.
The PDF has passed the PDF/UA-2 + Tagged PDF validation by VeraPDF 1.28.2.
All images have alternate texts. This is a textbook for a one-semester undergraduate course in the Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces. Familiarity with Real Analysis is helpful.
This goal is to provide a complete proof of the Gauß-Bonnet theorem.
There are hyperlinks in the margin of the PDF linking to some 80 Mathematica notebooks, which are also supplied.
A version with solutions to most exercises will be provided in May
Complex Analysis
The PDF has passed the PDF/UA-2 + Tagged PDF validation by VeraPDF 1.28.2.
All images have alternate texts. This is a textbook for a one-semester graduate course in Complex Analysis. Familiarity with Real Analysis is helpful. All proofs attempt to be organic.
This goal is to provide a complete proof of the Riemann Mapping Theorem.
There are two optional chapters about elliptic functions and geometric function theory
Hyperbolic Geometry
The PDF has passed the PDF/UA-2 + Tagged PDF validation by VeraPDF 1.28.2.
All images have alternate texts. These notes serve as an elementary introduction to hyperbolic geometry suitable for an undergraduate course. Topics include circles, inversion, Möbius transformations, disk and upper half plane models of the hyperbolic plane, the hyperbolic distance, spherical geometry, reflection groups, Dyck's theorem, Ford circles
On the Outside Looking In? Faculty Perceptions of Disciplinary Culture and Their Sense of Belonging
Paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association, April 2025, Denver, COFaculty sense of belonging necessarily incorporates not only how much faculty feel they belong in their institutional community but also, even implicitly, how they feel they belong within their disciplinary community. While disciplinary differences in faculty work is studied frequently, little is known about whether and faculty perceptions of their disciplinary cultures relate to feelings of belonging. This study contributes to the literature on disciplinary cultures and sense of belonging by investigating faculty perceptions of their disciplinary cultures and faculty members’ alignment with the perceptions of their disciplinary peers. Results suggest some limited connection between perceptions of disciplinary cultures and an institutionally-focused sense of belonging
Libraries as Third Spaces for Rural Mental Health Support
Public libraries are increasingly recognized as vital community “third spaces”—trusted, neutral locations that serve beyond their traditional roles of book lending and digital access. These community hubs are being reimagined as access points for health education and services, especially in rural areas where limited infrastructure is available to support health.
This brief highlights emerging models—including “Because You Matter,” Faith Net, and Hoosier Health Check—that demonstrate how libraries can bridge rural health gaps through partnerships, telehealth, and on-site screenings. It also explores the specific interest and potential in Daviess County, Indiana, for implementing similar initiatives
LEADERSHIP ACTIONS FOR TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION INTO SCHOOLS
Thesis (Ed.D.) - Indiana University, Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies/School of Education, 2025This dissertation presents findings from a single case study in one elementary school. As technology integration in schools continues to develop, this study looks at the role of a school principal as she engages in technology leadership. The study is designed around a conceptual framework by Scott McLeod (2015) who defines leadership actions that are central to integrating technology in schools undergoing improvement as the following: setting forth a unified vision with the purpose for the initiative; eliminating the fear of change in community and staff members; releasing control to allow students more autonomy; and supporting parents, teachers, and students with professional learning and a robust infrastructure. Data collection included interviews, observations, and professional documents and artifacts. There are two key findings for school leaders working to integrate technology: principals must operationalize a vision by creating conditions for teacher learning and principals must provide access and build capacity
