Networked social movements and radicalisation: yellow vests' cross-ideological horizon for underrepresented groups
This paper questions the opportunities that Yellow Vests as a Networked Social Movement (NETSM) created for politically underrepresented groups. Without a clear authority structure and a formal organisation, NETSMs challenge traditional leadership understandings. Nonetheless, their ability to determine precision in setting goals, demands, and strategies is disputed in the NETSM literature. Considering both aspects, the paper evaluates Yellow Vests' success in bridging two underrepresented groups inclined to radicalisation. The study rests on 77 interviews with young-adult French citizens who support Radical Right movements (n=40) or self-identify as Muslim in the public sphere of Paris and Lyon (n=37). I argue that Yellow Vests' baseline arguments (e.g., against the pension reform and tax hikes) were precise enough to be shared by our interlocutors. Meanwhile, our interlocutors left the group boundaries sufficiently imprecise so that the movement could reach beyond their parochial identities. Bringing the two features together, the movement opened up new (e.g., class-based) radicalisation possibilities other than those relying on the Islamist and nativist vocabularies. After analysing this combination of precision and imprecision in the context of several unresolved problems, I conclude that the movement's vulnerability emanates from its failure to refine the combination that initially symbolised a shared future imagination
Measurement of the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair production in association with a photon with the ATLAS experiment
A measurement of the charge asymmetry in top-quark pair (tt¯) production in association with a photon is presented. The measurement is performed in the single-lepton tt¯ decay channel using proton–proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN at a centre-of-mass-energy of 13 TeV during the years 2015–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb?1. The charge asymmetry is obtained from the distribution of the difference of the absolute rapidities of the top quark and antiquark using a profile likelihood unfolding approach. It is measured to be AC=?0.003±0.029 in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. © 2023 The Author(s
Workplace ostracism and subjective well-being: A reflection on understanding the experiences of syrian asylum seekers in turkey
There is growing recognition that better adaptation and settlement is achieved amongst refugees when they obtain meaningful and humane employment in the host country. However, asylum seekers face significant barriers to not only finding work, but also experience difficulties integrating into the workplace and face discrimination at work. Such discrimination may take the form of ostracism and is likely to lead to decreased identification with the employing organization along with colleagues and supervisors. The current chapter is thus a non-systematic review of the literature on workplace ostracism and calls for immediate discussion on refugee and asylum seekers' work experiences, and how neglect and discriminatory practices may lead to undesirable work outcomes and socio-cultural integration problems. An Integrated Interval-Valued Picture Fuzzy CRITIC & TOPSIS Methodology: An Application to Disaster Debris Management
Picture fuzzy (PF) sets show the expert's opinion about an element's membership or non-membership in the set, as well as the expert's indecision about the element's membership in the set. Interval-valued PF sets (IVPFSs) offer more flexibility than single-valued PF sets in assigning the mentioned degrees. Picture fuzzy multi-criteria decision making methods or methodologies are superior to other methods or methodologies since they can take these opinions of the experts into account in the decision mechanism. CRITIC method is a criteria weighting method based on statistical terms such as correlation coefficients and standard deviations, which has become popular recently. In this paper, the PFCRITIC method will be used to calculate the weights of the criteria and the PF-TOPSIS method is used to rank the alternatives. The proposed multi-experts IVPF CRITIC&TOPSIS methodology is applied to the post-disaster location selection of debris waste sites in Istanbul. In the comparison analysis, the integrated methodology is compared with crisp TOPSIS method based on the same data. The results show that the integrated methodology gives a consistent ranking with slight differences in closeness coefficients

Measurements of the suppression and correlations of dijets in Pb+Pb collisions at?sNN = 5.02 TeV
Studies of the correlations of the two highest transverse momentum (leading) jets in individual Pb+Pb collision events can provide information about the mechanism of jet quenching by the hot and dense matter created in such collisions. In Pb+Pb and pp collisions at√sNN = 5.02 TeV, measurements of the leading dijet transverse momentum (pT) correlations are presented. Additionally, measurements in Pb+Pb collisions of the dijet pair nuclear modification factors projected along leading and subleading jet pT are made. The measurements are performed using the ATLAS detector at the LHC with 260 pb−1 of pp data collected in 2017 and 2.2 nb−1 of Pb+Pb data collected in 2015 and 2018. An unfolding procedure is applied to the two-dimensional leading and subleading jet pT distributions to account for experimental effects in the measurement of both jets. Results are provided for dijets with leading jet pT greater than 100 GeV. Measurements of the dijet-yield-normalized xJ distributions in Pb+Pb collisions show an increased fraction of imbalanced jets compared to pp collisions; these measurements are in agreement with previous measurements of the same quantity at 2.76 TeV in the overlapping kinematic range. Measurements of the absolutely normalized dijet rate in Pb+Pb and pp collisions are also presented, and show that balanced dijets are significantly more suppressed than imbalanced dijets in Pb+Pb collisions. It is observed in the measurements of the pair nuclear modification factors that the subleading jets are significantly suppressed relative to leading jets with pT between 100 and 316 GeV for all centralities in Pb+Pb collisions. ©2023 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration
UYGURCA SÖZLÜKLER
The dictionary is the linguistic wealth of a nation and it develops, changes and enriches over time. Dictionary studies are of great importance in researching issues such as a nation's linguistic existence, history and culture. In today's world, dictionary studies are also informative in revealing the relationship of a language with different languages and in determining the extent of communication of that language with other languages. With the development of digital tools that come into play in different fields, computer technology and artificial intelligence applications facilitate the transfer and use of dictionaries to the digital field. In this context, dictionary usage has become more functional thanks to automatic translation processes and text analysis in different languages. When doing dictionary studies on a language, it is a necessity to have the studies on that language neatly at hand. Many articles on Uyghur dictionary studies have been published so far and these have made significant contributions to the literature. This article aims to complement previous studies. This article aims to complement previous studies. For this reason, the relevant literature was reviewed and many dictionaries that were not included in previous studies were identified. As a result of the study, all words identified so far have been analyzed according to categories.Sözlük bir milletin dil zenginliğidir; zamanla gelişir, değişir ve zenginleşir. SİNEMA- GÖRSEL TASARIM İLİŞKİSİ EKSENİNDE SANAL GERÇEKLİK VE HİKAYE ANLATIMI: “GLOOMY EYES” ANALİZİ
Since the beginnings of humanity, visual storytelling has evolved from ancient cave wall paintings to today’s virtual worlds. As the mediums used for storytelling in visual arts have undergone technological advancements, visual storytelling formats have also needed to adapt to these changes. In this context, virtual reality (VR) as one of the extended reality (XR) technologies, has become a fundamental element in creating artistic and designed experiences by combining various fields such as cinema, digital gaming, and performance art. Visual narrative experiences created with virtual reality technology provide users with a realistic sense of presence by immersing them in the story directly. Based on this observation, this study examines the visual narrative construction of the award-winning VR animation film “Gloomy Eyes,” produced in 2019, through Gillian Rose’s compositional interpretation technique. Throughout the analysis, the question of how the narrative, which surrounds the user with a simulated world, combines artistic and design elements with cinematic elements, is explored. The study reveals that “Gloomy Eyes”, which tells the story of a zombie boy and a human girl falling in love in a world where zombies and humans are at war, offers the user the opportunity to follow the story with free head movements and enriches the experience with three-dimensional environments and character modeling guided by lighting techniques, creating a diorama effect. Furthermore, the study identifies that the experience keeps the user in an observer position instead of defining the user as an active first-person character who directly intervenes in the narrative. Although the full potential of interaction as the most important element of virtual reality is not utilized, the strong dramatic structure of the story combined with effective visual designs showcases that “Gloomy Eyes” is one of the successful representatives of the new generation of visual storytelling in virtual reality.İnsanlık var olduğundan bugüne, önce mağara duvarlarına çizerek bugün ise sanal olarak ürettikleri dünyalarda çoklu duyulara hitap ederek görsel hikaye anlatımına devam etmektedir.
This thesis explores the relationship between memory, space, and cinema through a personal and artistic journey. The author reflects on their own experiences of fragmented memories and the discovery that remembering places can evoke vivid recollections. Drawing inspiration from Frances A. Yates' concept of "the art of memory," the thesis investigates how the art of memory has been revitalized in the author and the broader zeitgeist. The introduction delves into the author's early experiences with photography and filmmaking, highlighting the significance of spaces as vessels for memory. The thesis further examines the author's films and the narrative construction, emphasizing the importance of spaces in conveying meaning. The author reflects on the role of death, forgetting, and the recording of images as a means to resist loss and preserve memories. The exploration of the five films, The 8th of June (2013), A Topography of Memory (2015) The Pillar of Salt (2018), Belonging (2019) and Forms of Forgetting (2023) reveals the author's focus on capturing the memory of places rather than the events, emphasizing the importance of spaces in their filmography. The influence of philosopher Henri Bergson on the filmography of the author is highlighted, underscoring the concept of duration and the relationship between cinema, memory, and space. The thesis argues that spaces possess their own memory, and through cinema, they can offer audiences a unique experience that encompasses the past, present, and future. By examining the unique qualities of cinema, such as the separation of the visual image and the sound, the thesis asserts that spaces in films have the potential to become memories themselves, bridging temporal dimensions and engaging audiences in a transformative experience
