Search for new phenomena in final states with photons, jets and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at ?s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for new phenomena has been performed in final states with at least one isolated high-momentum photon, jets and missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13TeV. The data, collected by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1). The experimental results are interpreted in a supersymmetric model in which pair-produced gluinos decay into neutralinos, which in turn decay into a gravitino, at least one photon, and jets. No significant deviations from the predictions of the Standard Model are observed. Upper limits are set on the visible cross section due to physics beyond the Standard Model, and lower limits are set on the masses of the gluinos and neutralinos, all at 95% confidence level. Visible cross sections greater than 0.022 fb are excluded and pair-produced gluinos with masses up to 2200 GeV are excluded for most of the NLSP masses investigated

Understanding the role of self-esteem and fear of negative evaluation in impulsive and compulsive buying

    No full text
Impulsive and compulsive buying behaviors have been seen at different rates in different societies and can cause psychological, economic, and sociological problems both individually and socially in the short and long term. Mainly thanks to developing mobile technologies, the internet, and improved economic and financial conditions, consumers can purchase more easily than ever. In such an environment, examining impulsive and compulsive buying behaviors and increasing our knowledge about the factors underlying these behaviors is crucial. In this context, the present study explores the direct and indirect relationships between self-esteem (SE), fear of negative evaluation (FNE), impulsive buying tendency (IBT), and compulsive buying tendency (CBT). With this purpose, data were collected from 356 participants by online survey method with snowball sampling. The data were evaluated via structural equation modeling. Results have shown that consumers' SE decreases FNE and CBT, FNE increases IBT, IBT increases CBT, and SE reduces IBT through FNE

The reproduction of fear in populist discourse: an analysis of campaign speeches by the Justice and Development Party elites

    No full text
This paper scrutinizes the reproduction of fear in the populist discourse of the Justice and Development Party and provides a content analysis of campaign speeches between 2015 and 2018. We posit that the linkage between populism and fear derives from two frames, victimization and blaming, appealing to perceived threat and insecurity that deepens the construction of 'us-vs-them' group differentiation. We argue that the AKP's campaign in the 2015 elections frames security, value, and competing narratives by emphasizing terrorism, clashes with the 'others', and the opposition's lack of capacity to rule. Their campaign in the 2017 referendum articulates a crisis and issue-based narrative over the coup attempt and constitutional amendments, and the 2018 campaign featured an issue, value, and security-based narrative. The findings show various continuities and changes in the AKP narratives based on exploiting citizens' threat perceptions, with broad fear-based narratives remaining constant while the specifics of the threat adapt to the political atmosphere of the time

Efficient techniques for numerical solutions of Fisher's equation using B-spline finite element methods

    No full text
This study presents a numerical solution of Fisher's equation. For time integration, Crank- Nicolson and fourth-order one-step implicit schemes are used and for space discretization, quintic B-spline Collocation and quintic B-spline Galerkin methods are employed. The truncation error is analyzed and the stability of the suggested methods is discussed matrix stability analysis. Three examples are studied to compare the present results with existing numerical results by computing error norm L(8 )and the order of convergence. The obtained results show that the proposed methods are satisfactorily efficient in terms of accuracy

Limitation of the General Assembly's Authority to Dismiss the Members of the Board of Directors

    No full text
Provisions that restrict the dismissal of board members can serve to protect the interests of a company's legal personality, minority shareholders, and board members in various contexts. It also enables control to be shared between majority and minority shareholders in legal systems where the block shareholding structure is the prevailing model, such as in Turkiye. However, these types of provisions limit the absolute and inalienable power of the general assembly to dismiss members from the board of directors. Thus, in cases where the trust has been broken between a board member and the company, these provisions limit the ability to dismiss the relevant member from duty. Nevertheless, an uncertainty exists within Turkish Law regarding whether the arrangements limiting the dismissal of board members are valid within the corporate structure. This study seeks answers to the following two questions about the possibility of limiting the general assembly's authority to dismiss board members through a regulation in the articles of association: Can such a decision be tied to a certain period or to the presence of justified reasons or of certain conditions, and can special quorums be called for in a general assembly meeting regarding such a decision. While the answer to the first question in the existing doctrine is generally negative, the answer to the second question is positive. In accordance with the opinion adopted in this study, limiting the dismissal of members of the board of directors should not be possible through regulations such as just cause, conditions, time, or sanctions. Similarly, increasing the meeting and/or decision quorums should also not be possible regarding the dismissal of members from a board of directors

There are many factors that people care about and pay attention to when shopping. Conspicuous consumption is among these factors. Especially in recent years, with the increase in conspicuous consumption, this issue has gained more and more importance in marketing strategies. In this context, Influencer marketing is a marketing technique in which brands use people who have a high following and match the target audience of the brands in order to increase the sales of their products and services. In this study, the effect of population marketing on conspicuous consumption was investigated. In our study, a research will be conducted on the conspicuous consumption of influence marketing, which appears as "Influencer" in Social Media channels. For this purpose, the study was applied to 415 social media users in the form of an online questionnaire. The data obtained in the study was used for conspicuous consumption, the CCO scale. While analyzing, IBM SPSS 26.0 package program was used. As a result of the study, it was found that population marketing has a significant effect on conspicuous consumption. The possible relationship of this effect with other variables has revealed various results. It shows that the effect of population marketing on conspicuous consumption is independent of other variables. These findings will help to better understand the impact of Population marketing on consumers. In conclusion, influence marketing is an effective marketing technique on conspicuous consumption. This technique can change people’s consumption habits and tend to spend more money

Model-independent search for the presence of new physics in events including H ? ?? with ?s=13 TeV pp data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC

    Get PDF
A model-independent search for new physics leading to final states containing a Higgs boson, with a mass of 125.09 GeV, decaying to a pair of photons is performed with 139 fb(-1) of p root s = 13TeV pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. This search examines 22 final states categorized by the objects that are produced in association with the Higgs boson. These objects include isolated electrons or muons, hadronically decaying iota -leptons, additional photons, missing transverse momentum, and hadronic jets, as well as jets that are tagged as containing a b-hadron. No significant excesses above Standard Model expectations are observed and limits on the production cross section at 95% confidence level are set. Detector efficiencies are reported for all 22 signal regions, which can be used to convert detector-level cross-section limits reported in this paper to particle-level cross-section constraints
