    Examining the Factors Influencing Turkish Nursing Students’ Motivation: An Explorative Qualitative Study

    Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the factors that affect the motivation of students in a Bachelor of Science nursing program. Methods: A qualitative study was carried out with 32 Bachelor of Science nursing students with different class studying in a non-profit foundation university. Data was collected through four focus groups using a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis was used to analyze data. Results: The following five themes emerged: Choosing the university, but not the future profession; lack of a feeling of belonging to university; group cohesion; student-faculty relationship; quality of education. Conclusion: In this study showed how important it is for students' motivation to study on a large campus rather than on an isolated campus

    Nüfus artışına paralel olarak ivme kazanan endüstriyel faaliyetler, küresel ölçekte çevre kirliliği yaratan odak noktalarının en önemlisidir. Güncel endüstriyel kirlenme kontrolü temiz üretim kavramını benimseyen bir yapıdadır. Temiz üretim ise proseslere, ürünlere ve hizmetlere sürekli uygulanan entegre, önleyici nitelik taşıyan bir çevre stratejisidir. Yaşam döngüsü değerlendirmesi (YDD), endüstriyel faaliyet kaynaklı istenmeyen çevresel etkilerin azaltılması, diğer bir deyişle temiz üretim yönünde doğru adımların atılması için kullanılacak objektif bir araçtır. Kimi durumda kullanılan enerji kaynağının değiştirilmesi, kimi durumda başka bir ülkede üretilerek ithal edilen girdilerin yerli yapım olanlarla değiştirilmesi ya da geri dönüştürülmüş malzeme kullanımı veya çıkan atıkların geri dönüşüme gönderilmesi çevresel etkilerin azalmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada endüstride temiz üretim seçeneklerinin saptanmasında YDD kullanımına ait örnekler sunulmaktadır. Örneklerin tümü ülkemizde yerinden toplanmış verilerle yürütülen çalışmalara aittir. YDD’de girdi olarak başka coğrafyalar için oluşturulmuş veri tabanlarının kullanımı yerine ülkemize özel verilerin oluşturulmasının önemi vurgulanmıştır

    THE ROLE OF ENVY AND GLUCKSCHMERZ IN THE APPRAISAL OF SERVICE UNFAIRNESS

    Bu çalışma hizmet ortamında karşılaşılan adaletsizliklerin müşterilerin tekrardan ziyaret etme niyetleri üzerindeki etkisini ve bu süreçte gluckschmerz (yani başkalarının yaşadığı talihli durumdan duyulan rahatsızlık) ve kıskançlık duygularının rolünü incelemektedir. Aynı zamanda sosyal kimlik teorisinden hareketle grup kimliğinin bu süreçteki düzenleyici rolü de incelenmiştir. 2 (yüksek adaletsizlik ve düşük adaletsizlik) x 2 (iç-grup ve dış-grup) denekler-arası deneysel serim kullanılan ve 331 kişinin senaryolara rassal olarak atandığı bu araştırmada, hizmet adaletsizliği ve adaletsizlikten avantaj elde eden kişilerin grup kimlikleri manipüle edilmiştir. Analiz sürecinde düzenleyicilik, aracılık ve düzenleyici aracılık analizleri ile geliştirilen hipotezler test edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre hizmet adaletsizliği ile karşılaşan tüketicilerde kıskançlık ve gluckschmerz duyguları ortaya çıkmakta ve müşterilerin hizmet ortamını tekrar ziyaret etme niyetleri zayıflamaktadır. Bununla birlikte bu etki, adaletsizlikten avantaj elde eden diğer müşterinin, asıl müşteri ile bir bağının olmadığı durumlarda (dış-grup) kıskançlık üzerinden gözlemlenirken, kişinin kendi grubundan tüketicilerin avantaj elde etmesi durumunda kıskançlık duygusu ortaya çıkmamaktadır. Beklenenin aksine, hizmet adaletsizliğinin gluckschmerz duygusu üzerindeki etkisinde ise grup kimliğinin herhangi bir düzenleyici rolünün olmadığı görülmüştür. Son olarak, bu çalışma, hizmet ortamında tanık olunan çeşitli durumlarda hizmet adaletsizliğinin hizmet işletmelerine yönelik niyetleri hangi duygular aracılığı ile ve hangi koşullar altında etkilediğini göstererek, yöneticilere alabilecekleri önlemler ve bu duygusal sürecin yönetimi ile ilgili önerilerde bulunmuştur.This study examines the mediating role of gluckschmerz (i.e., discomfort with the fortunate situation of others) and envy in the relationship between service unfairness and the revisit intentions of consumers. It also tests the moderating role of group identity in the process on the basis of social identity theory. The study has 2 (severe and mild service unfairness) x 2 (in-group and out-group) between-subject experimental designs. 331 participants were randomly assigned to the scenario-based experimental groups. In the analysis process, moderation, mediation, and mediated moderation hypotheses were tested. Findings show that consumers, who experienced service unfairness, feel envy and gluckschmerz, and hence customers’ revisit intentions decrease. This effect is observed through envy in cases where the other consumer, who takes advantage of the situation, belongs to the out-group. When the other consumer, who takes advantage of the situation, belongs to the in-group, the effect disappears. On the other hand, the moderating effect of group identity becomes non-significant in the case of gluckschmerz. This study shows how service unfairness affects consumers' emotions and revisit intentions and suggests that managers should be careful in the management of the emotional process of service recoveries

Sorumluluğun kusur esasına dayanması, gelişen ve değişen toplumların ihtiyaçlarını karşılamakta yetersiz kalmakta, adaletsiz sonuçlara yol açmaktaydı. Kusursuz sorumluluk, sanayi devriminin de etkisiyle makineleşmenin artması, teknolojik alanlarda meydana gelen ilerlemelerle birlikte büyük organizasyonların hakim olduğu sanayi toplumlarının ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak üzere doğmuş bir sorumluluk türüdür. Çalışma kapsamında kusursuz sorumluluk türlerinden biri olan olağan özen (sebep) sorumluluğu kapsamında değerlendirilen Türk Borçlar Kanunu'nun 66'ncı maddesiyle düzenlenen adam çalıştıranın sorumluluğu detaylıca incelenmiştir. Çalışma dört ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde adam çalıştıranın sorumluluğu kavramı ve niteliği ana hatlarıyla açıklanmış, sorumluluğun doğumu için varlığı zorunlu temel süjelerin tanımları yapılmaya çalışılmış ve benzer sorumluluk hallerinden farkı irdelenerek ortaya konulmuştur. İkinci bölüm, adam çalıştıranın sorumluluğu için gerekli genel ve özel şartların incelenmesinden oluşmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde, adam çalıştırana, sorumluluktan kurtulabilmesi için getirilmiş kurtuluş kanıtı imkanı değerlendirilmiştir. Dördüncü ve son bölümde ise adam çalıştıranın müteselsil sorumluluğu ve rücu hakkı incelenmiştir.Fault liability; it is a type of responsibility based on the individual's actions, which is seen in societies where mechanization is not developed, there are no advances in technologial fields and the economy is not based on industry. Basing responsibility on the principle of fault was insufficient to meet the needs of developing and changing societies, leading to unfair results. Absolute liability is a type of responsibility that was originate to meet the needs of industrial societies dominated by large organizations, along with the increase in mechanization and advances in technological fields, under the influence of the industrial revolution. In this study,the responsibilty of an employer, regulated by the 66th article of the Turkish Code of Obligations which is evaluated within the scope of ordinary care (cause) liability, which is one of the types of absolute liability, has been examined in detail.This study consists of four main parts. In the first part, the concept and the nature of the responsibility of an employer are explained in outline, the definitions of the primary subjects whose existence is necessary for the originate of the responsibility are tried to be made, and the difference from similar cases of liability has been examined and revealed.The second part consists of examining the general and special conditions necessary for the responsibility of an employer. In the third part, the possibility of proof of liberation brought to the employer to getting rid of the responsibility is evaluated. In the fourth and the last part, the employer's joint liability and right of recourse of the employer are examined

    Search for heavy resonances and quantum black holes in e?, e?, and ?? final states in proton-proton collisions at ?s = 13 TeV

    A search is reported for heavy resonances and quantum black holes decaying into e?, e?, and ?? final states in proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC during 2016–2018 at s = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb?1. The e?, e?, and ?? invariant mass spectra are reconstructed, and no evidence is found for physics beyond the standard model. Upper limits are set at 95% confidence level on the product of the cross section and branching fraction for lepton flavor violating signals. Three benchmark signals are studied: resonant ? sneutrino production in R parity violating supersymmetric models, heavy Z? gauge bosons with lepton flavor violating decays, and nonresonant quantum black hole production in models with extra spatial dimensions. Resonant ? sneutrinos are excluded for masses up to 4.2TeV in the e? channel, 3.7TeV in the e? channel, and 3.6TeV in the ?? channel. A Z? boson with lepton flavor violating couplings is excluded up to a mass of 5.0TeV in the e? channel, up to 4.3Te V in the e? channel, and up to 4.1TeV in the ?? channel. Quantum black holes in the benchmark model are excluded up to the threshold mass of 5.6TeV in the e? channel, 5.2TeV in the e? channel, and 5.0TeV in the ?? channel. In addition, model-independent limits are extracted to allow comparisons with other models for the same final states and similar event selection requirements. The results of these searches provide the most stringent limits available from collider experiments for heavy particles that undergo lepton flavor violating decays.     Assessment High-Risk Breast Cancer in Older Patients: A Comparative Analysis of PREDICT Scores and TAILORx Risk Categorization

    Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between PREDICT tool overall survival (OS) scores and high-risk patients according to TAILORx risk categorization in elderly hormone reseptor (HR) positive human epidermal growth factor negative early breast-cancer patients. Materials and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study, extracting data from medical records of 64 patients diagnosed with breast cancer. A retrospective analysis was performed on all patients who had Oncotype Dx Recurrence Scores across five medical centers between 2017 and 2022. PREDICT scores were defined as calculated 10-year OS rates via PREDICT tool. Results: The median age of the patients was 67, with a range between 65-75 years. Low-risk patients had a slightly higher two PREDICT scores compared to high-risk patients (78% vs. 73%), (81% vs. 77%), which were statistically significant. The progesterone receptor (PR) level was significantly lower in the high-risk group (3.5% vs. 80%). A unit decrease in the PREDICT scores was associated with a 11% increase in the odds of being in the high-risk group. However, these effects weren't statistically significant in the multivariate analysis. A unit decrease in the PR level was significantly associated with increased odds (by 5% in the multivariate analysis) of being in the high-risk group. Conclusion: Our study underscores the importance of using a combination of tools, including the PREDICT tool, PR levels, and TAILORx risk categorization, for a comprehensive risk assessment in these patients, especially in the older population. Accurate risk assessment is crucial for tailoring the treatment and optimizing outcomes in this vulnerable population. Future studies are warranted to further validate these findings in larger cohorts and to explore additional biomarkers and genomic signatures that may aid in the risk assessment and management of breast cancer in older patients

    Measurements of the suppression and correlations of dijets in Pb+Pb collisions at?sNN = 5.02 TeV

    Studies of the correlations of the two highest transverse momentum (leading) jets in individual Pb+Pb collision events can provide information about the mechanism of jet quenching by the hot and dense matter created in such collisions. In Pb+Pb and pp collisions at?sNN = 5.02 TeV, measurements of the leading dijet transverse momentum (pT) correlations are presented. Additionally, measurements in Pb+Pb collisions of the dijet pair nuclear modification factors projected along leading and subleading jet pT are made. The measurements are performed using the ATLAS detector at the LHC with 260 pb?1 of pp data collected in 2017 and 2.2 nb?1 of Pb+Pb data collected in 2015 and 2018. An unfolding procedure is applied to the two-dimensional leading and subleading jet pT distributions to account for experimental effects in the measurement of both jets. Results are provided for dijets with leading jet pT greater than 100 GeV. Measurements of the dijet-yield-normalized xJ distributions in Pb+Pb collisions show an increased fraction of imbalanced jets compared to pp collisions; these measurements are in agreement with previous measurements of the same quantity at 2.76 TeV in the overlapping kinematic range. Measurements of the absolutely normalized dijet rate in Pb+Pb and pp collisions are also presented, and show that balanced dijets are significantly more suppressed than imbalanced dijets in Pb+Pb collisions.     Digital leadership role in developing business strategy suitable for digital transformation

    Businesses must respond to the ecology in which they operate. Especially the rapid transformation of technology has increased the degree of dependency on the system. The main reason for this is perceived only as the technology costs brought by digital transformation. However, we understand from the bankruptcy of economically strong companies that this is not the real problem. This study looks at it from the perspective of leadership, which is an important skill for businesses. The research focuses on leadership roles needed to adapt to digital transformation. At this point, the roles of digital leadership and its contribution to businesses were investigated. At this point, we try to reveal the role of digital leadership with two different qualitative analyzes. In the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with senior managers, phenomenological and content analysis was performed using Nvivo and MAXQDA qualitative analysis programs, and relevant confidential information was revealed. As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is an important link between time management and productivity while supporting system efficiency and transformation adaptation. In other words, a positive relationship has been determined between the success of digital transformation and digital leadership roles. In digital transformation, digital leadership has a role in the positive development of the relationship between the digital transformation process and business strategies. As a result, a perspective on how digital leadership can contribute to businesses that want to develop strategies suitable for the digital transformation process is presented

    A Political Economy of Historical Change and Continuity in Turkish Foreign Policy

    This study aims to analyse historical continuity and change in Turkish foreign policy (TFP) within the framework of Critical Theory as elucidated by Robert Cox. It suggests asking how TFP has been affected by the historical changes in relations of production and world orders. Within this framework, it aims to explain the changes in TFP within the relation between the production, the world order and the form of state. It analyses TFP in three historical periods such as the Interwar Years, Cold War and post-Cold War. It exposes that Turkish state (re)formation and foreign policy making has succumbed to the global capitalist relations of production and corresponding world orders. These two have been the major framework(s) of change and continuity in Turkiye's 100 years-old foreign policy. Its main argument is that the continuity and change in TFP has shown an interplay of relations between production and world order. It concludes that TFP has been in line with the global relations of production so there has been a clear and substantial continuity; and that the arguable changes have been the repercussions of global relations of production and world orders
