critical thinking to family health. Through data collection and analysis, nurses identify
problems, formulate nursing diagnoses and define objectives, enabling the collaborative
planning of interventions throughout the family life cycle.
Adolescence is characterized by the search for identity, increase in independency, and the
reorganization of family relationships, representing moments of vulnerability, but also an
opportunity for nursing interventions that can facilitate this transition, promoting a healthy
adaptation, particularly in the area of sexuality.
A quantitative study was therefore conducted with the aim of identifying the relationship
between the level of knowledge about sexuality and the communication in family-based
sexual education among adolescents aged 12 to 15 years.
The results of this evidence-based study indicate that the key areas in which the Family Nurse
should intervene within families include: knowledge in regards to “sexually transmitted
infections, HIV/AIDS” and “first sexual intercourse and sexual concerns”. Additionally, there is
a need to reinforce the knowledge in areas such as contraception and safe practices,
pregnancy prevention, sexuality, and sexual pleasure; to promote the timely use of
manipulative and assertive communication strategies; and to demystify myths and concerns
about sexuality among families, mothers and fathers. These findings underscore the need to
organize an appropriate response within the scope of Family Health Nursing care to address
the identified needs effectively.
This report supports the consolidation of the professional understanding of the Specialist
Nurse’s role in Community Health within the field of Family Health Nursing, while also
demonstrating the competencies acquired through clinical placements. Using a descriptive
and critical-reflective approach, this report presents the activities undertaken, along with the
development of competencies in both the personal and professional domains of the Specialist

Effects of a Playoff Match on Competitive Anxiety and Autonomic Regulation in Professional Esports Players
Background
A competition is considered a stressful situation since it causes physiological and emotional changes in the responses of athletes and consequently influences their performance.
Objective
The aim of our study was to investigate competitive anxiety and heart rate variability (HRV) in professional eSports athletes, comparing the responses before and after matches based on whether they won or lost. We hypothesized that victorious players would display more favorable autonomic and anxiety-related responses after the matches compared to those who were defeated.
Methods
We recruited fifty male esports players from 10 different Brazilian teams and carried out the experiment across two sessions. Initially, 24 hours before the game, players signed the informed consent form, and sample characterization, along with player familiarization with anxiety and HRV, was performed. Following this, the players recorded their anxiety levels and HRV at rest for 10 minutes, both 60 and 30 minutes prior to the game (baseline time points), as well as 10 minutes after the conclusion of the game.
Results
Regarding anxiety, our results demonstrated that the victory group (VG) exhibited significantly lower scores for both cognitive and somatic anxiety in the post-game time point, coupled with increased scores for self-confidence when compared to the baseline (BL) and pre-game time points. In opposition, the defeated group (DG) displayed significantly elevated scores for cognitive and somatic anxiety during the post-game time point, accompanied by decreased self-confidence scores compared to the baseline and pre-game time points. Regarding heart rate variability (HRV), the victory group (VG) demonstrated a significant increase in SDNN, rMSSD, and HF measures, coupled with a significant decrease in the LF/HF ratio. Conversely, the defeated group (DG) exhibited a significant decrease in SDNN and rMSSD, along with a significant increase in the LF/HF ratio.
Conclusion
In summary, the VG exhibited superior HRV responses in conjunction with lower levels of anxiety compared to the DG.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Adicionalmente, as empresas familiares
The importance of family businesses is recognized in the literature, as well as their unique
characteristics. While they have advantages such as strategic adaptability and a long-term
focus, they also face challenges, including a tendency for fewer resources and potential
family-business disputes, which may interfere with their operations and entrepreneurial
activities. These challenges may be even more evident in developing countries. This research
highlights the importance of simultaneously analyzing internal and external elements of
family businesses in developing countries, as their organizational culture can drive
entrepreneurship, and resource limitations can be minimized or overcome through networks.
Thus, this study examines the impact of internal ties—particularly organizational culture—
and external ties—external network connections—on the entrepreneurial activity of family
businesses in Ecuador. Based on data collected from Ecuadorian family businesses via
questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-PLS, the study concludes that an organization's
internal culture, shaped by family values and management practices, plays a crucial role in
these businesses' ability to be entrepreneurial. Additionally, Ecuadorian family businesses
benefit from network ties with the community but not from connections with the market or
the government. The research offers significant implications for the management of family
businesses in developing economies, emphasizing the importance of strengthening both
internal business culture and external relations to promote sustainable entrepreneurshi
Toward Integrative Biomechanical Models of Osteochondral Tissues: A Multilayered Perspective
Article number - 649This article belongs to the Section Biomechanics and Sports MedicineUnderstanding the complex mechanical behavior of osteochondral tissues in silico is essential for improving experimental models and advancing research in joint health and degeneration. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the constitutive models currently used to represent the different layers of the osteochondral region, from articular cartilage to subchondral bone, including intermediate regions such as the tidemark and the calcified cartilage layer. Each layer exhibits unique structural and mechanical properties, necessitating a layer-specific modeling approach. Through critical comparison of existing mathematical models, the viscoelastic model is suggested as a pragmatic starting point for modeling articular cartilage zones, the tidemark, and the calcified cartilage layer, as it captures essential time-dependent behaviors such as creep and stress relaxation while ensuring computational efficiency for initial coupling studies. On the other hand, a linear elastic model was identified as an optimal starting point for both the subchondral bone plate and the subchondral trabecular bone, reflecting their dense and stiff nature, and providing a coherent framework for early-stage multilayer integration. This layered modeling approach enables the development of physiologically coherent and computationally efficient representations of osteochondral region modeling. Furthermore, by establishing a layer-specific modeling approach, this review paves the way for modular in silico simulations through the coupling of computational models. Such an integrative framework supports scaffold design, in vitro experimentation, preclinical validation, and the mechanobiological exploration of osteochondral degeneration and repair. These efforts are essential for deepening our understanding of tissue responses under both physiological and pathological conditions. Ultimately, this work provides a robust theoretical foundation for future in silico and in vitro studies aimed at advancing osteochondral tissue regeneration strategies. The authors declare that financial support was received for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article. Use and Acquisition of Communicative Functions and Communicative Forms by Portuguese European Toddlers with and without Hearing Impairment
Acknowledgements
The authors are grateful to the families for providing all the support needed to carry out the study.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and compare communicative functions and forms in toddlers without (age group 8 to 18 months) and with hearing impairment (age group 13 to 18 months). Methods: Participants were 37 toddlers with normal hearing, 4 toddlers with hearing impairment. Results: The results indicate an increase in the average of the communicative functions conveyed along the increase of the age groups. There is an association between the age group and the type of communicative functions taught. Although there is no relationship between the hearing impairment condition and the average use of communicative functions, the two groups make different use of the type of communicative functions as well as the communicative forms. Conclusion: Is of paramount importance to understand the relationships between communicative forms and communicative functions in the assessment and intervention of communication skills in toddlers. In the case of toddlers with hearing impairment is fundamental to be aware that is not the frequency but the type of communication skills that they establish with their interlocutors. This work was funded by National Funds through FCTFoundation for Science and Technology under the CIEC (Research Centre on Child Studies from the University of Minho) projects with the references UIDB/00317/2020 and UIDP/00317/2020 and under the ciTechCare (Center for Innovative Care and Health Technology) projects with the references UIDB/05704/2020 and UIDP/05704/2020
