A kólika műszeres monitorozásának működési elve egyes ellési mozgásdetektorokéra vezethető vissza, azonban ezek a jelzőrendszerek számos szempont miatt nem alkalmasak kólikás megbetegedések észlelésére. 15 klinikailag egészséges lovon (3-20 éves) a fentebb leírt mozgásformákat kiváltottam, miközben a vizsgálandó állat fején lévő kötőfékre tarkónál rögzített műszer mérése közben valós idejű szimultán videót készítettem az adott lóról. Ezután a műszer mérési adatainak számítógépes konvertálása következett, melynek eredményeiből származó görbék szubjektív és számszerű statisztikai elemzését végeztem a hozzátartozó szimultán videókkal.
A citrusfélék gomba elleni védelmének élelmiszer-egészségügyi vonatkozásai
Fungicidek eltávolíthatósága gyümölcsök héjáról.
Napjainkban a növekvő számú népesség a korábbinál sokkal nagyobb mennyiségű élelmiszert
déligyümölcsök, citrusfélék szállíthatóságát és tárolhatóságát gombaölő szerekkel javítják,
amelyek gátolják a szállítás során a penészesedést. Nem csak fogyasztói elvárás a szép, hosszan
eltartható gyümölcs, de a penészgombák termelte mikotoxinok komoly humánegészségügyi
kockázatot is jelentenek.
forgalomban levő termékekben a maximálisan megengedhető növényvédőszer-maradék
is függhet.
népszerű tisztítási módok mennyire hatékonyak a valóságban. A fogyasztók tájékozottságát
elektronikus kérdőív segítségével vizsgáltam
An investigation on how purified aqueous chlorine dioxide interacts with porcine jejunal cells in vitro
As antimicrobial resistance rises, greater efforts are being made into finding alternative active agents such as antiseptics. Chlorine dioxide is an inorganic, potent biocide which due to toxic impurities was in the past not safe to be ingested. However, recently the production of highly purified aqueous solutions of chlorine dioxide has been made possible and relatively easy. This has raised the question of whether it could be an ideal biocidal additive to the diet of food producing animals. Microbial resistance to chlorine dioxide is unlikely due to the fact that it acts on the thiol group which is fundamental in all living organisms. Chlorine dioxide has been found to be highly biocidal in low concentrations on intestinal biota while simultaneously at this same concentration having no negative effect to daily weight gain. However, the extensive knowledge of its interaction with the intestinal epithelium is yet to be elucidated.
The aim of this research is to gain a greater understanding of its interaction with the gut epithelium with special focus the cells involved in the inflammatory process
Farm quarantine procedures for sheep in the United Kingdom
The goal of this survey was to gain an insight into the quarantine practices employed by sheep farmers for newly purchased sheep and compare their responses to what is considered to be best practice according to current recommendations.
Utilisation of an online survey on the quarantine procedures and current health issues experienced on sheep farms as the method of data collection, allowed for a broader audience to be questioned than would have been achieved by a face-to-face interview, but also imposed limitations on the possible responses by farmers to the questions
The effect of cooling on Campylobacter spp. in chicken meat
Campylobacteriosis is the most common zoonosis in many countries. It is usually
transmitted to humans through food. The main source is raw poultry, but meat from other
animals, raw milk and drinking water can also harbour infective levels of Campylobacter.
The increasing rate of antimicrobial resistance of Campylobacter spp. is of great concern.
The high prevalence of campylobacteriosis in humans has initiated a lot of studies, many of
them focusing on the survival of Campylobacter at refrigeration and freezing temperatures.
In this study we examined the effect of cooling on Campylobacter spp. in chicken meat over
the course of 2 weeks. Chicken meat injected with Campylobacter spp. isolated from chicken
was used as samples. The amount of surviving bacteria after storage at 10, 4, and 2 °C was
determined by measuring the redox potential using a MicroTester on day 0, 7 and 14
Insects as food and feed: A literature review
This literature review tackled the broad, primitive subject that is insects as food and feed.
First, a detailed comparison was made between insects and conventional protein sources,
studying the environmental opportunities of the mass production of insects. Feed
conversion ratios, edibility, water use, land use, energy use and amount of greenhouse gas
and ammonia emissions produced for each conventional protein source (beef, pork,
chicken and soybean) and for insects were discussed. Insects were seen to be the superior
protein source when it comes to sustainability. An extra environmental benefit for the mass
production of insects was also pointed out; that insects are able to aid in the waste
management and recycling, a global problem of outmost importance. Complementing the
benefits, the environmental hurdles for insects as food and feed were also discussed. The
only two drawbacks are biosecurity and the fact that some insects harbour antimicrobial
resistance genes. It is safe to say that when it comes to insects, the environmental benefits
outweigh the downfalls.
This study then continues to describe the technologies of insect farming and processing,
with special regards to the EU legislation, animal welfare and farming insects at home. The
mass production lifecycles of the Yellow Mealworm, the House Cricket and the Black
Soldier Fly were compared
Feline Injection-Site Sarcoma – A Literature Review
Feline injection-site sarcoma (FISS) is a highly aggressive and malignant tumour of mesenchymal origin that develops in 1 in 10,000 injected cats. The majority of FISS are fibrosarcomas. To date the pathogenesis of this disease is still unknown. However, the most likely hypothesis is tied in with local inflammatory response occurring at the injection site causing a neoplastic transformation to sarcomas. Initially FISS was linked to feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and rabies vaccination. However other injectables such as antibiotics, corticosteroids and NSAIDs, and also suture materials and microchips have been associated with this condition. Selection of treatment for FISS is based on the clinical staging of the disease, and thus advanced imaging with the use of CT or MRI are recommended as additional diagnostic tools in the phase of treatment planning in order to correctly evaluate the actual size of the tumour, and to check for presence of metastasis
Equine Infectious Anemia Virus: A review
Equine infectious anemia is a persistent disease in horses and other equids, and can eventually be fatal. The aetiological agent of EIA is equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) and it belongs to the family Retroviridae, to the Lentivirus genus. It is a positive single stranded RNA virus that uses a reverse transcriptase, encoded in the viral genome, to produce DNA that is incorporated into the genetic makeup of infected cells. The disease is present in three forms, acute, chronic and inapparent
