The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment and Selection: An Analysis on Its Potential Impact on Hiring Discrimination
Discrimination in recruitment and selection remains a challenge globally, besides companies increasingly emphasizing the importance of having a diverse workforce in order to stay competitive in international markets. This thesis investigates how discrimination occurs in recruitment and selection, how hiring Artificial Intelligence technologies are currently applied within these processes and to what extent the use of such systems and tools can help reduce discrimination. To address these questions, a systematic literature review was conducted. The findings show that discrimination in recruitment and selection mainly arises from human biases and stereotypes which are linked to an applicant´s personal characteristics, such as ethnicity, gender, age, disability, religion and sexual orientation. Application areas of Artificial Intelligence technologies in recruitment and selection include chatbots, résumé screening, talent matching, active sourcing, candidate assessment, job posting optimization and interview analysis. The results further indicate that Artificial Intelligence has the potential to minimize discrimination, thus ensuring more objective candidate assessments, however, only if transparent algorithmic designs, diverse training data and ongoing human monitoring are guaranteed. Otherwise, Artificial Intelligence tools may reinforce existing stereotypes and biases, thus perpetuating discrimination in recruitment and selection
Real-Time Object Recognition with Neural Networks in Public Transport – Determining the Utilization of Vehicles using Existing Camera Systems
For security reasons, many local public transport vehicles now have cameras installed in their interiors. At present, these can and may only be used in Germany to investigate criminal offenses. Real-time object recognition offers the possibility of counting passengers with existing cameras without saving images or videos. This is not only important for revenue sharing, but can also provide information about bottlenecks when boarding and alighting, or be used to display empty areas in individual carriages of a train. This paper investigates whether object recognition is suitable for determining the utilization of public transport vehicles using individual images from the interior. Test images from the security cameras of a streetcar were analyzed and evaluated with a self-trained Faster R-CNN model. Accuracies of 70% were achieved in the detection of people and free seats

Quantitative analysis of apprentices' preferred learning styles and learning methods based on the example of the Aesculap AG
• das Anwenden der Lehrstile ‚Vermittler‘, ‚Experte‘ und ‚Persönliches Modell‘.Major changes are noticeable in the world of apprenticeship. Reasons are the COVID-19 pandemic, digitalization, social change, and new technologies. One consequence of these changes is a huge diversity of apprentices in terms of learning styles and performance level, which is also apparent at Aesculap AG. Therefore, the main objectives of this thesis are (1.) to capture the diversity of the apprentices in form of preferred learning styles, (2.) to survey the preferred teaching and learning methods of the apprentices and (3.) to analyze whether the offered teaching and learning methods by the instructors are compatible with the preferred teaching and learning methods of the apprentices. In this way, the study contributes to improving the quality of apprenticeship.
To reach these objectives data is collected with an online survey of 170 apprentices and semi-structured interviews of the entire eleven instructors at Aesculap AG.
The online survey is based on the Grasha-Riechmann Student Learning Style Scales and items on teaching and learning methods are included. Descriptive statistics are used to analyze the data. Finally, the results of the online survey show that the apprentices prefer the 'participative' learning style. When it comes to teaching and learning methods they prefer 'repeated prolonged practice'.
With the help of semi-structured interviews, the offered teaching and learning methods are surveyed. The numerically collected data is also analyzed with descriptive statistics. It is found that the instructors offer the method 'individual feedback' most frequently. The recommendations that emerge for practical action are:
• increase the offer of 'repeated prolonged practice', the ‘four steps method’ and methods that allow collaboration,
• adapt digital learning and teaching methods to the learning style ‘collaborative’,
• apply the teaching styles ‘Facilitator‘, ‘Expert‘ and ‘Personal Model'

This thesis deals with the significance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the choice of employer by different generations, in particular Generation X and Generation Z. In view of demographic change and the intense competition for qualified labor, this topic is becoming increasingly important. This thesis aims to analyze the differences in the preferences of the two generations and to determine the relevance of CSR initiatives in their decision to choose an employer.
The research question is answered using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods (mixed method). The aim is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationships. The three hypotheses and the qualitative questions were answered by means of a questionnaire. The results demonstrate that Generation Z has a significantly higher sensitivity to social and ecological CSR initiatives, while Generation X favors more traditional decision criteria such as salary and job security. These differences imply significant implications for the design of employer branding strategies and the creation of CSR initiatives with the aim of increasing attractiveness as an employer.
This study provides valuable insights for companies wishing to adapt their recruitment strategies to the preferences of younger generations. It also provides a solid basis for further research in this area. Integrating CSR into the corporate culture enables companies to increase their attractiveness as an employer and at the same time make a positive contribution to society
