The Recomposition Concept Map is classified as a concept mapping method that incorporates the condition of restricting the list of nodes and links. Concept mapping methods under the condition of restricting the list of nodes are widely accepted as effective in promoting meaningful learning and higher-order thinking. This paper argues that the activity of selecting linking phrases during the construction of propositions, which invokes higher-order thinking skills, remains valuable even when the list of links is provided as part of the condition. The paper also presents several findings from prior studies on the recomposition concept map that support this viewpoint.教育システム情報学会(JSiSE)2023年度 第6回研究会, 2024年3月10日(日), 山口大

This article is one of series of the Study of Legal Term Usage in Japanese Law. I have read repeatedly through the Code of Law in order to pick up the legal terms, that I should cite in my lecture. While reading the articles of Code, I have always marked the legal terms in various ways to distinguish them from each other. In this 10th and final Study, I present my original way of marking legal terms, including the technical aspects of it. In addition to the above, I add two brief essays on "The Proclamation Sentence (Kofubun) and the Imperial Edict (Joyu) in the Official Gazette (Kanpou) " and "The Amendment of Law"

The purpose of this study is threefold. First, to develop and implement an elementary school social studies political science class that aims to cultivate digital citizenship. The second is to verify the effectiveness of the developed lessons based on the children's behavior. The third is to reconstruct the framework of the class structure based on the children's behavior. To achieve these objectives, we developed a sixth-grade elementary school unit entitled "What We Can See from the Sluggish Voter Turnout of Young People" and implemented it in a class

International Faculty Members’ Intention to Leave South Korea: Do acculturation and cultural advantage matter?

    No full text
The percentage of international faculty members at Korean universities peaked in 2013 and has been decreasing since, suggesting that Korean universities have a problem with international faculty member retention. This study investigates whether international faculty members’ intention to leave is associated with their degree of acculturation. Results are based on analyses of data from 325 international faculty members with doctorates working at Korean universities nationwide. Regression analyses reveal that acculturation, work-related conditions (salary, workload, workplace climate) and mobility-related motivational factors (job market in home country, interest in Korea) explain international faculty members’ intention to leave. A ‘cultural advantage’ (ethnically Korean or living with a Korean spouse) is not a significant predictor of intention to leave. Suggestions to support international faculty members, and to help bring about synergistic organizational change are ventured in the hopes of bolstering retention at Korean universities going forward. This work was supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF-2018S1A5A2A03029277)

This study examines the problematic nature of the “sanctity of life” and “human rights” to construct ethics to critique of eugenics in the modern era. In recent years, eugenic thought has spread in Japanese society. Two main ideological bases on which criticism of the status quo is built are modern “human rights,” such as the “right to life,” and the “sanctity of life” rooted in the Christian tradition. However, the “sanctity of life” based on the Christian tradition has lost its reality and appeal in the post-God's death era, and more so in Japan, which does not have a Christian (or, more broadly, monotheistic) cultural background. Nevertheless, “human rights” is a modern Western concept, and an aspect in which the modern Western idea of human rights, as represented by the “right to self-determination,” has itself made the “new eugenics” possible. This study focuses on three concepts: the dignity of life, human rights, and the right to self-determination, emphasizing continuity and commonality. They presuppose a metaphysical principle as the global substratum in common. In these ideas, true life is overlooked, and it seems that true “affirmation of life” cannot be derived by relying on these ideas
