This study came to investigate the reality of saving archive in Algeria under modern technological developments, and learn the key techniques applied in archive handling and preservation. Also, to see how respectful is the case study (The Archive Centre of the Wilaya of Sétif to the global conservation standards). This study has been relying on the descriptive analytical method for the analysis of the phenomenon, where it concluded, in its last set of the results, that the Archive Center of the Wilaya of Sétif is already applying the appropriate scientific processing techniques for the archives, as well as the appropriate conservation conditions of various vessels. In addition to that, the building of the Centre is already matching the applicable national and international criteria and conditions. The key recommendation of the study is that it should be a preparation of a good regulatory and legislative environment, and appropriate working conditions, before the acquisition of the means and the modern equipment or the application of any new system. Then we can aspire to spread the use of modern technological means and techniques of saving archives inside the Algerian archive centers and institutions.48114319
A hybrid quantum inspired harmony search algorithm for 0–1 optimization problems
This paper presents a new hybrid natural algorithm based on Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA) and Quantum Computing (QC). The main features of the proposed algorithm called Quantum Inspired Harmony Search Algorithm (QIHSA) is the integration of quantum representation scheme in the basic harmony search algorithm that allows applying successfully some quantum inspired operators like measurement and interference. This hybridization between quantum inspired computing and harmony search algorithm has led to an efficient hybrid framework which achieves better balance between the exploration of HS algorithm and the exploitation capabilities of the quantum inspired computing. Experiments on knapsack problems show the effectiveness of the proposed framework and its ability to achieve good quality solutio253142
A Parallel Distributed System for Gene Expression Profiling Based on Clustering Ensemble and Distributed Optimization
With the development of microarray technology, it is possible now to study and measure the expression profiles of thousands of genes simultaneously which can lead to identify subgroup of specific disease or extract hidden relationships between genes. One computational method often used to this end is clustering. In this paper, we propose a parallel distributed system for gene expression profiling (PDS-GEF) which provides a useful basis for individualized treatment of a certain disease such as Cancer. The proposed approach is based on two major techniques: the GIM (Generalized Island Model) and clustering ensemble. GIMs are used to generate good quality clusterings which are refined by a consensus function to get a high quality clustering. PDS-GEF system is implemented using Matlab®’s PCT (Parallel Computing ToolboxTM) which runs on a desktop computer, and tested on 34 different publicly available gene expression data sets. The obtained results compete with and even outperform existing methods828
An Agent-Based Approach For Hybrid Multi-Cloud Applications
Cloud service offerings provide a competitive advantages to enterprises through flexible and scalable access to computing resources. With the recent advances in Cloud computing, the need is emerging for interoperability between Cloud services so that a complex and developed business applications on Clouds are interoperable. In fact, combining different independent Cloud services necessitates a uniform description format that facilitates the design, customization, and composition. In this context, Agent Interaction Protocols (IP) are a useful way for structuring communicative interaction among business partners, by organizing messages into relevant contexts and providing a common guide to the all parts. The challenge here is twofold. First, we must propose a formal model that is rich enough to capture interactions characteristics. Second, we must allow designers to combine existing protocols to achieve a new specific need.
The work presented in this paper is considered as a first step toward Agent Interaction Protocols as a Service. In fact, we propose a basis for a theoretical approach for aggregating protocols to create a new desired business application. The proposed
approach provides the underpinnings of aggregation abstractions for protocols. Also, it proposes a set of operators that allows the creation of new value-added protocols using existing ones as building blocks.14
An ontology-based approach for semantics ranking of the web search engines results
6 pages, 5 figures, appears in: (ICMCS), 2012 International
Conference on Multimedia Computing and Systems, Print ISBN: 978-1-4673-1518-0This work falls in the areas of information retrieval and semantic web, and
aims to improve the evaluation of web search tools. Indeed, the huge number of
information on the web as well as the growth of new inexperienced users creates
new challenges for information retrieval; certainly the current search engines
(such as Google, Bing and Yahoo) offer an efficient way to browse the web
content. However, this type of tool does not take into account the semantic
driven by the query terms and document words. This paper proposes a new
semantic based approach for the evaluation of information retrieval systems;
the goal is to increase the selectivity of search tools and to improve how
these tools are evaluated. The test of the proposed approach for the evaluation
of search engines has proved its applicability to real search tools. The
results showed that semantic evaluation is a promising way to improve the
performance and behavior of search engines as well as the relevance of the
results that they return.79780
WS-mcv: An Efficient Model Driven Methodology for Web Services Composition
Web services are available applications on the Web which can be invoked by users to accomplish a potentially business task. However, to meet user’s requirements, it becomes necessary to dynamically organize existent services and combine them, responding thus to a new purpose. In this paper, we propose a methodology called WS-mcv (Web Service Modeling, Composing and Verifying) that addresses the main problems arising in Web service composition area. WS-mcv represents an efficient and modular multistep approach achieved by breaking service composition into three processes: service modeling, automatic composition and formal verification. The proposed methodology makes use of the G-Net framework to allow an easiest modeling of basic and existent services. We propose a collection of expressive G-Net based operators that successfully solves complex Web service composition. WS-mcv also defines means to ensure composition correctness. All the processes of WS-mcv have been successfully automated in a model transformation based visual environment.071
Model checking and code generation for UML diagrams using graph transformation
UML is considered as the standard for object-oriented modelling language adopted by the Object Management Group. However, UML has been criticized due to the lack of formal semantics and the ambiguity of its models. In other hands, UML models can be mathematically verified and checked by using its equivalent formal representation. So, in this paper, we propose an approach and a tool based on graph transformation to perform an automatic mapping for verification purposes. This transformation aims to bridge the gap between informal and formal notations and allows a formal verification of concurrent UML models using Maude language. We consider both static (Class Diagram) and dynamic (StateChart and Communication Diagrams) features of concurrent object-oriented system. Then, we use Maude LTL Model Checker to verify the formal model obtained (Automatic Code Generation Maude). The meta-modelling AToM3 tool is used. A case study is presented to illustrate our approach.030
A high-level Petri net based approach for modeling and composition of web services
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.Web services are modular, self-describing, self-contained and loosely coupled applications, which intercommuni-cate via messages exchanging. The evolution of the internet and the emergence of new technologies like e-business have influenced the use of these last ones, which have become popular. The composition of web services is a topic that attracts the interest of researchers. It offers complex problems process ability even with simple existing web services while cooperating with each other. However, modeling tools and formal techniques for the completion of this task are required. In this paper, we show how simple existing web services can be composed, in order to create a composite service, which offers new features. In this context, we propose an expressive object-oriented Petri net based algebra that succeeds in the complex composition of Web services.0946947
PRESY: A Context Based Query Reformulation Tool for Information Retrieval on the Web
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.Problem Statement: The huge number of information on the web as well as the
growth of new inexperienced users creates new challenges for information
retrieval. It has become increasingly difficult for these users to find
relevant documents that satisfy their individual needs. Certainly the current
search engines (such as Google, Bing and Yahoo) offer an efficient way to
browse the web content. However, the result quality is highly based on uses
queries which need to be more precise to find relevant documents. This task
still complicated for the majority of inept users who cannot express their
needs with significant words in the query. For that reason, we believe that a
reformulation of the initial user's query can be a good alternative to improve
the information selectivity. This study proposes a novel approach and presents
a prototype system called PRESY (Profile-based REformulation SYstem) for
information retrieval on the web. Approach: It uses an incremental approach to
categorize users by constructing a contextual base. The latter is composed of
two types of context (static and dynamic) obtained using the users' profiles.
The architecture proposed was implemented using .Net environment to perform
queries reformulating tests. Results: The experiments gives at the end of this
article show that the precision of the returned content is effectively
improved. The tests were performed with the most popular searching engine (i.e.
Google, Bind and Yahoo) selected in particular for their high selectivity.
Among the given results, we found that query reformulation improve the first
three results by 10.7% and 11.7% of the next seven returned elements. So as we
can see the reformulation of users' initial queries improves the pertinence of
returned content.Vol.6No.447047
Using Context to Improve the Evaluation of Information Retrieval Systems
18 pagesThe crucial role of the evaluation in the development of the information
retrieval tools is useful evidence to improve the performance of these tools
and the quality of results that they return. However, the classic evaluation
approaches have limitations and shortcomings especially regarding to the user
consideration, the measure of the adequacy between the query and the returned
documents and the consideration of characteristics, specifications and
behaviors of the search tool. Therefore, we believe that the exploitation of
contextual elements could be a very good way to evaluate the search tools. So,
this paper presents a new approach that takes into account the context during
the evaluation process at three complementary levels. The experiments gives at
the end of this article has shown the applicability of the proposed approach to
real research tools. The tests were performed with the most popular searching
engine (i.e. Google, Bing and Yahoo) selected in particular for their high
selectivity. The obtained results revealed that the ability of these engines to
rejecting dead links, redundant results and parasites pages depends strongly to
how queries are formulated, and to the political of sites offering this
information to present their content. The relevance evaluation of results
provided by these engines, using the user's judgments, then using an automatic
manner to take into account the query context has also shown a general decline
in the perceived relevance according to the number of the considered results.Vol.3,No.
