The Influence of Motivation on Job Performance Case Study: Managers of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Kosovo
Get PDFA motivated and qualified workforce is crucial in increasing productivity and the quality of the organisational services in order to achieve organisational objectives. A great amount of worldwide wealth is expressed in the form of human capital. Human resources play a crucial role in a process of increasing companies’ effectiveness.The theoretical framework of this study includes concepts such as motivation and job performance.Most organizations acknowledge the importance of having motivated employees in achieving business goals and objectives. Motivated employees are more productive on job performance and help organizations survive.The study investigates the influence of motivation on the job performance of managers.The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the motivation and job performance for Managers of SME.A sample was selected from the target population, via cluster sampling. A structured questionnaire was used and the data analyses were made through statistical package (software) for social sciences (SPSS).The group’s dominant locus of control was also measured through the use of an appropriate measuring instrument.As expected, the findings from the study indicate a positive correlation between managers’ motivation and their job performance
Similarities and Differences between NATO and the EU Enlargement
Get PDFAfter the end of the Cold War the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU) enlargement were two main political processes in the European continent. Both organizations since their inception, promoted the idea of integrated Europe without borders, which meant creating a Europe without divisions and bringing back all Central Eastern European (CEE) countries into the European family where they belong. However, after half a century of isolation in the totalitarian communist system the CEE countries (CEEC) had to undertake fundamental institutional, political, economic, military and other reforms in order to join NATO and the EU. In order to ease the process of accession, both organizations set certain criteria for membership for the CEECs. While NATO’s requirements for membership were more general and flexible, the EU’s requirements, on the other hand, were non-negotiable and closely enforced.Therefore, this article will explore NATO’s and the EU’s enlargement process eastwards, its similarities and differences. In addition, it will analyse the difficulties and challenges with special focus on Russia’s opposition to this process.The author will identify the similarities and differences between NATO and the EU’s enlargement and will argue that the eastern enlargement marked the final end to the Cold War antagonism and it created conducive preconditions for more secure and prosperous Europe
Parental Responsibilities to Children in the Republic of Kosovo
Get PDFFor a long time, in Albanian customary law, parental responsibilities were an exclusive competency of fathers. In positive law, especially with the reform of the legal system in the Republic of Kosovo, now both parents are fully equal in exercising parental responsibilities. Children are the future of any society, and therefore, their upraising, education and proper welfare of children is an objective and responsibility not only for the parents, but also of societal and state institutions. Although parent-child relations incorporate moral, biological and legal elements, the absolute power of parents must be shared between parents and proper social and educational policies, in the heart of which are always the best interests of the child.Kosovo has already adopted a complete legal framework, approximated to the standards of the European Union and international instruments which clearly provide on the rights of the child and responsibilities of parents and institutions in enjoying such rights. Within the range of this new legal framework, we make an effort of addressing parental responsibilities, which are exercised in terms of personality of children, and derive as a result of personal non-material relations. Our work is focused on a study of parental responsibilities in terms of giving a personal name, healthy development, education and upraising. We have also analysed several court rulings related to the rights of the child and responsibilities of parents in enjoying such rights, which we believe are to enrich and render the paper more interesting
Evaluation of Cost-Effectiveness of Cochlear Implant Use in Albania and Benefits from its Applications to Children with Profound Loss Hearing
Get PDFBackground: It is estimated that each year in Albania, about 70 children are born with profound hearing loss. If detected and diagnosed early (before age 4-5) and treated with cochlear implant, these children are likely to recover from the loss of hearing in a certain extent and to gradually develop speech, thus integrate in life and society.The purpose of this study is to compare these two alternatives by combining the costs and respective benefits or outcomes through a pharmacy economic evaluation. This assessment provides theoretical data on the problem of profound hearing loss mainly in children, long-term consequences of this condition in their life mainly in lingual development , cognitive (cognitive), emotional, and social benefits and highlights the impact of cochlear implant in the lives of these individuals.Methodology: As for those individuals, whose quality of life is compromised by their defect, we used a cost-utility analysis. The assessment is done from the perspective of the payer and the society. After assessment of costs and calculation of QALYs for each alternative we concluded.Conclusions: Cochlear implant improves hearing perception and helps the development of speech at young children with profound hearing loss under the age of 4-5.The younger the child is the greater are the benefits. Cochlear implant is more cost-effective from both perspectives considered by our study (Payer and Society) compared with no implant
Powerful figures and images: Contribution to Personification of Polis in Hellenistic Art
Get PDFAnthropomorphic symbol in the visual art was an integral part of ancient Greek culture since beginning. Personification of Hellenistic polis, understood as broad and diverse social, geographic and political phenomenon, can be approached by an analysis of archaeological and written sources. Define polis in miscellaneous Hellenistic society is a complex task, especially when socio-historical context is not directly reflected by individual archaeological finds and detailed historical data. Certain changes within political sphere appeared and status of city-states varied. An effort to restore political sovereignty did not expire entirely, therefore personification of poleis from previous period remained in some cases almost unchanged. Personification of political units in Classical art might be similar, distinct or completely different from Hellenistic depictions. Personification of polis in Classical period reflected not only patriotic stance and civil affiliation, but also the legitimacy of state independence. In this aspect, a connection with art of following period may be seen: reshaping of political propaganda was performed during Hellenistic age. Legitimity of state power and expressive means of fine arts were closely related since Archaic period, which occured later in various forms.
Some Considerations on the Evolving Concepts of Cultural Heritage
Get PDFThe history of the property as general heritage and access to the entire society is a phenomenon which took matter during the French Revolution, where the entire heritage, especially of museums, should be considered as a public possession of all, in order to disseminate knowledge to all. In the Albanian context, the history to this heritage and the awareness took place in other circumstances, given the history and various developments in Albania. Given such circumstances, our analysis will be focused on the historical development and attention to national heritage, which was propagated at the same time as raising and awareness of missing values. These values have been attempt in different ways and related and have also changed during years of totalitarian period and then with the change of the political system.The paper tries to bring an overview of holistic term of culture heritage including museum law interpretation as part of cultural heritage legislation
The Balkans and Syria’s Civil War: Realities and Challenges
Get PDFThe prime objective of this research paper is to look at the realities and challenges confronting the Balkan states and societies in light of Syria’s civil war. By examining the mobilization process of Balkan militants who are joining Syria’s rebel cause, especially the Islamic radical groups linked to al-Qaeda, this paper proposes a model that explains why and how Balkan militants are joining the fight in Syria. Drawing upon reliable media reports, personal observations, academic accounts, and other consistent sources, this paper argues that Balkan militants are joining Syria’s rebel cause because foreign Islamic radical groups (that have been operating in the Balkans since the early 1990s) have successfully indoctrinated them. This paper challenges the argument that Islam in the Balkans is a threat to the region, and the claim that Balkan Islam and Muslims in the region are becoming an increasing threat to the West. The central findings of this paper exemplify that the future of Balkan militants is bleak and that they will be confronted with a massive modern and democratic resistance that offers them nothing but reintegration into Balkan Islam, their natural “religious nest.” Notwithstanding the trends related to Syria’s civil war, Balkan Muslims belong to the West, culturally and mentally.
Mediation as a Way of Alternative Resolution of Disputes in Kosovo

Extrajudicial Protection of Property Rights in the Aftermath of Kosovo Armed Conflict
Get PDFThe aim and purpose of this paperwork is to review how the property rights in Kosovo are protected in the aftermath of the armed conflict of 1999. Paperwork moreover explains the quasi-judicial mechanisms created to protect property rights, their fundamental principles, legal framework, jurisdiction and their endorsed legal remedies.This paperwork is prepared based in triangulation methodology, i.e. empirical method, including legislative application and statistical method.The protection of property rights in Kosovo is considered a serious problem and the legal system here in particular the work of judicial institutions/regular courts has shown inefficiencies due to political interference in the judicial system and the large number of backlog cases in the courts, in the other hand insufficient number of judges to cope and handle that amount of backlogs.Housing and Property Directorate and its successor Kosovo Property Agency were established as apolitical and independent institutions led and supervised internationally as an ideal solution for resolution of property disputes efficiently and un-biased.Both institutions are faced with challenges and obstacles during the processing, adjudication and implementation of property claims. However, the results obtained in this paperwork show that Housing and Property Directorate has accomplished its mission efficiently, un-biased and in accordance with its legal framework, while Kosovo Property Agency has been performing its mandate in effective manner
Change Management and its Influence in the Business Environment

The environment in which the organizations operate is in constant change and becomes more and more unpredictable. Managing these changes is a challenge that all enterprises face. The rapid changes that are happening in business are increasing the need to manage these changes. Enterprises have to develop and use different kinds of management models so that they can grow their performance in order to ensure a competitive position in the market. The changes in enterprises sometimes are not accepted by the organization employees, and seem to have negative effects towards them (exemption from work, reduction of working hours, reduction of income). Changes have negative and positive effects. Successful and rational managers can achieve having successful changes and minimizing the negative effects that come due to changes. Changes are vital for organizations so that they can replace the old plans and models with new and successful ones. In this paper we talk about the role and importance of managing the changes, the types of changes, models of changes, the resistance against changes and also the obtained results of the paper are introduced. Literature was used to support the research in the study field, and based on that to explain the role of changes in the business environment.
