    The Effect of Using Critical Reading in 5th Grade Science on Students’ Academic Achievement, Science Performance and Creativity

    This study examined the effect of using critical reading in scientific texts on students’ academic achievement, science performance level and creativity. The study was conducted with 5th grade students in Ereğli, Zonguldak during the 2017-2018 academic year.  The study group consisted of a total of 34 students, 17 in the experimental group and 17 in the control group. Activities based on critical reading were carried out with the experimental group, whereas traditional activities from the 5th grade science curriculum were employed with the control group. The “Multiple Choice Academic Achievement Test”, the “Science Performance Level Test” and the “Torrance Test of Creative Thinking” were administered to both groups as a pre-test prior to the study and as a post-test once the study was completed. The data were analyzed with the dependent and independent samples t-Test using the SPSS package program. The study results revealed a significant difference in science performance level and creativity between the experimental and control groups favoring the experimental group. However, there was no significant difference in academic achievement between the experimental and control groups. Critical reading practices can be used in science lessons to improve students’ high-level skills, and critical reading activities can be developed alongside scientific texts for multiple grade levels

This study aims to integrate school, third-party enterprises, and other resources to explore the joint building of specific application scenarios for “5G+education” in schools. The 5G VR/AR smart cloud space is a smart education experience scene that combines relevant teaching resources with teaching scenes through cloud rendering using virtual reality technology (VR) and augmented reality technology (AR). The high-speed and low-delay features of the 5G network and the support of cloud rendering technology enable students to experience virtual reality scenes through VR head-mounted displays while in the classroom, enhancing learning engagement. This study explores the application of 5G technology in primary school financial literacy education, studying its impact on environmental construction, resource application, curriculum development, and learning modes.     Transforming growth factor-β (transforming growth factor-β, TGF-β) is a cytokine with multifunctional biological activities. It is highly expressed in a variety of tumors and is closely related to the occurrence, development, and prognosis of tumors. In most cells, TGF-β1 can conduct signal transduction through the classical pathway (depending on Smad) and the non-canonical pathway (independent of Smad), exerting its biological effects. Studies have shown that TGF-β1 mainly affects the development of tumors through epithelial-mesenchymal transition, immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, and carcinoembryonic antigen receptors. Elucidating the molecular mechanism of TGF-β1 carcinogenesis will provide new therapeutic methods to prevent tumor recurrence and delay its metastasis

    How does Job Crafting Impact on Career Commitment of Rural Teachers?

    The purpose of this study is to examine the current state of job crafting and career commitment of rural primary teachers and to analyze the relationship between the two variables as well as the influencing mechanisms through a questionnaire survey of 2,217 primary school teachers in Liaoning, Yunnan, Chongqing, Guangxi, and Guizhou. The research findings showed that rural primary teachers exhibited a moderate level of capacity for job crafting and career commitment; that job crafting positively predicted career commitment among rural primary teachers; and that teachers’ self-efficacy and organizational support played mediating and moderating roles respectively in the relationship between the two variables
