"Poor indoor air quality can have adverse health effects on humans, especially in susceptible populations; however, few studies have measured multiple indoor air pollutants simultaneously. This study evaluated the concentrations of major indoor air pollutants such as formaldehyde (HCHO), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), air quality index (AQI), and temperature and humidity in the nine different rooms at Naypyitaw State Academy campus. Using a portable air quality detector (Bosean Electronic Co. Ltd., Zhengzhou City, PRC), the major indoor air pollutants in these sites were measured from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (8 hours duration) for one week 20th to 26th, in December, 2022, May and July 2023. As a result, high concentrations of HCHO, TVOCs, CO2, CO, and PM2.5 were observed in the Engineer & Store Room, which polluted a little over the good condition of the WHO guideline value due to the polluted resources; the office supplies, furniture, copy machines, and human activity. In classroom, laboratory, library, academic, engineer & store, and finance & administration room, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was found to be over 50, indicating poor air qualities in the December but there is no very serious risk to human health. In May and July, it was observed that theAQI value of all the areas no exceed the standard WHO guideline value.

"The main goal of this research is to construct a car parking sensor that detects the motion of a car by using an Arduino Uno microcontroller with an ultrasonic sensor HC- SR04 and to determine the accuracy of HC-SR04. In this sensor, echo technique is used to measure the distances between the car and sensor. The output results are shown on the LCD display in cm scale. The changing distances of the car can be seen in different colors of LED and sound alarm can be heard from the buzzer. The specified color of LED output would display in each 10 cm range respectively. The buzzer made the sound when the object was very near (5 cm) to the sensor. The accuracy of this car parking sensor was determined by comparing software reading and manual reading. The observed error percent was in the range of 0 to 18%. The ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 can be assumed to have high accuracy.

Occupational Safety and Health Practices in Garment Factories in Yangon (Htoon Lwin Oo, 2025)

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a critical element of sustainable industrial development, especially in emerging economies like Myanmar. This study explores OSH practices in Yangon’s garment factories, a key sector employing a large, mostly female workforce from rural and low-income backgrounds. Despite its economic significance, the industry faces major OSH challenges, including inadequate safety standards, weak enforcement of labor laws, insufficient training, and limited access to protective equipment. Using a descriptive case study approach, the research relies on secondary data sources such as government inspection reports, national legislation, and international assessments. Findings highlight common workplace hazards—fire risks, lack of PPE, and weak emergency preparedness—particularly in locally owned factories with limited oversight. An analysis of three garment factories in Hlaingtharyar reveals disparities in OSH compliance, with foreign-owned factories demonstrating better safety practices due to external accountability. The study finds out OSH shortcomings are rooted in institutional, economic, and cultural factors rather than purely technical gaps. Suggestions include stronger regulatory enforcement, enhanced training programs, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to create safer workplaces and support sustainable growth in Myanmar’s garment industry
